Poll: Americans Favor Less Legal Migration,
Plurality Demand Cuts or Halt

With something like 30% of the people in the country foreign born, it's time to STOP ALL immigration, legal or illegal for about 50 years or so.

Our legal immigration limit per year used to be an amazingly low number, something in the tens of thousands annually, AND it was restricted to exclusively favor Western European immigrants, but in 1965 the “Hart-Celler Act” became law and by it allowed limitless migration from limitless counties AND created the “visa system” for “family reunification” and to fill “critical skills,” all in the name of “kumbaya politics.” This has been an unmitigated disaster, mostly because of Democrat Party attempts to increase their voter base through immigration AND the social welfare system. In fact, it’s curious timing that the President Lyndon Johnson, “Great Society,” which greatly expanded the anemic social welfare system of the 1930’s “New Deal,” was carried out between 1964 and 1968, with the result of creating a permanent “underclass” in the country and a powerful voter block of welfare addiction to completely control every major city in America. Imagine that, unlimited immigration from “world class hellholes” combined with “free money” government handouts. What could possibly go wrong? Well, America, we’re seeing the results, and it’s NOT good.

Not -all- migration should be reduced. The truly smart and useful people from other countries such as truly top notch scientists and engineers, doctors and other valuable real experts should be welcome. The rest, forget it. Go screw up Europe.

Stop all Muslims from any country from entering.

With the current trend of abortion and narcissism this country could run out of people by the end of this century. We need a good immigration policy that can identify good people and good families. I think we could easily accommodate an influx of a million immigrants a year.

This is not the early 1900s. We are a different country in a different time. Throw in the fact that we are broke. Tighten the borders and let in those who truly respect our country.

Strict rules like bring your talents and employment papers with you. No welfare of any kind and no politics. If you want to be a jihadi or a loud mouthed, entitled parasite, go elsewhere.

'Legal' immigration that permits family re-unification in its current form is an abomination. And Legal immigration itself is taking the blame for it. We should immediately go over to merit based immigration. Following is a recommendation. Legal migration should be allowed on a following weighting (given on a scale of 1 to 10): - Education - Work experience - Family ties - only family capable of supporting to be considered - Assimilability Maximum score 50. You must score at least 25 to get on a waiting list. Lists strictly by country of birth. Quota to be set by Congress every two years - new Congress , new quota.

Why do we allow anyone from Communist China to immigrate to this country; study in our universities, etc? You don't leave China without the government's permission?

No one asked me, but I would vote for stopping immigration all together. Why do we need more immigrants at this point in time?

Poster #2 has it right. Today many of the serious violent crimes perpetrated across the USA have been committed by foreign origin people who are in the USA either illegally or as legal immigrants. Look at the foreign origin ”nut job” who perpetrated the murders and wounding of US citizens at Brown University and the murder of a Professor in Massachusetts as examples. The reason for the out of control immigration systems in force today, along with mass uncontrolled illegal immigration continuing on is that the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats have been using immigration as a future “New American” Democrat voter maker by allowing tens of millions of mostly Third World origin aliens, both illegally and legally into the USA who are poor, uneducated, and generally unskilled people who the Democrats recognize will readily support the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrat political agenda in return for taxpayer provided “free stuff”. The Democrats do not want any illegal aliens to be arrested and deported as is provided for in the Immigration Laws passed by Congress and signed into Federal Law by US Presidents. Instead the Democrats want all illegal aliens to be granted amnesty, and be counted in the US Census, especially in the Democrat controlled “sanctuary cities” and other Democrat controlled areas, to cause large scale redistricting of congressional districts and seats from Republican areas into the “sanctuary cities” and other Democrat controlled areas, based upon the increased illegal alien population numbers in those cities and areas, where leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrat political candidates are bound to win the resulting congressional elections in those new districts, thus giving the Democrats a majority of seats and permanent control of the Congressional House of Representatives. In the longer term the Democrat plan is to use uncontrolled illegal immigration and Third World origin immigration in particular to permanently change the national population demographics of the USA, in accordance with Democrat identity politics, to that of a minority-majority country supporting the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrat political agenda looking to transform the USA into some sort of future socialist utopia.
