This AI-generated video foresees the future of New York under Zohran Mamdani. It is very good: Is it an accurate vision of the future, not just for New York City, but for America? It could be. A time in which candidates can run as socialists–and win!–is dystopian. I think it is an open question whether the American people, collectively, are intelligent enough to sustain a democracy. I blame our horrifically bad education system, both K-12 and post-secondary, and our grim, lowbrow culture.
But who knows, maybe New Yorkers, and the rest of us, will turn back from the brink.

A federal judge on Friday denied Letitia James’ request to force federal prosecutors to turn over all of their communications with the media after it was reported that Lindsey Halligan was exchanging text messages with a Lawfare reporter.
A couple of weeks ago, US Attorney Lindsey Halligan exchanged Signal messages with Lawfare reporter Anna Bower.
It is not unusual for a prosecutor to communicate with the press.
Lindsey Halligan pushed back on Anna Bower’s reporting in her exchange.

Former President Barack Obama has privately endorsed the mayoral campaign of Zohran Mamdani, a communist, in New York City.
According to The New York Times, Obama called Mamdani for around half an hour, during which time he praised his campaign and offered him political support.
Their report states:
Former President Barack Obama called New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Saturday, praising his campaign and offering to be a “sounding board” into the future.
The private, roughly 30-minute phone call, which has not previously been reported, was described by two people who participated or were briefed immediately on what had been said.

Michelle Obama really wants you to know she's a victim. That's been the theme for her over the last several years, whether it be during interviews or on her incredibly grating podcast. Most recently, speaking to ABC News "journalist" Gayle King, who is always chosen for these softball sessions for a reason, the former First Lady decried her time in the White House, claiming she and her family were given a "lack of grace" that other presidential families received. [Tweet, video]
KING: "We were all too aware that as the first black couple, we couldn't afford any mistakes."

When Joe Scarborough, who is not a fan of Donald Trump, must step in—you know it isn’t good. The Democratic Party is so obsessed with the Jeffrey Epstein files because they’re hoping to weaponize anything to damage the president. It won’t work. First, all the victims who have come forward said Trump wasn’t involved in any of the alleged illicit sexual activity that’s associated with the dead, depraved New York financier. Second, if this is all you have, your party, your brand, and your messaging sucks.
Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) accused Trump of engaging in illegal sexual activity with minors on MSNBC.

Judge James Boasberg's chickens may finally be coming home to roost.
The Obama-nominated chief judge of the United States District Court for D.C. now faces impeachment articles that Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Tex.) filed, thanks to explosive revelations surrounding Operation Arctic Frost—a coordinated effort that saw 197 subpoenas unleashed against Republicans in Congress and citizens during the Biden administration.
The specifics make your blood boil. Then-Special Counsel Jack Smith sought Sen. Ted Cruz's communications from AT&T, and Boasberg rubber-stamped the request. But here's where it gets really ugly: Boasberg issued an order explicitly prohibiting AT&T from notifying Cruz that his records were being seized.

John Fetterman is done playing nice. The Pennsylvania senator has decided to light his own colleagues on fire over the ongoing government shutdown—and frankly, it's about time someone did. While Senate Democrats have spent the past month pretending the crisis is all the GOP’s fault, Fetterman has blown up that narrative by calling it what it is: self-inflicted chaos.
In a stunning interview with CNN’s Manu Raju, Fetterman didn’t just criticize the Democratic Party line—he bulldozed it. “Americans are not leverage,” he said, as food assistance programs teetered on collapse with SNAP benefits hours away from drying up. “This is not some sh—y gameshow about who’s winning or whatever.”

The crises at the heart of the government shutdown fight in Washington were coming to a head Saturday as the federal food assistance program faced delays and millions of Americans were set to see a dramatic rise in their health insurance bills.
The impacts on basic needs — food and medical care — underscored how the impasse is hitting homes across the United States. Plans by the Trump administration to freeze payments to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program on Saturday were halted by federal judges, but the delay in payouts will still likely leave millions of people short on their grocery bills.

National Review is turning 70. The legacy of that publication is hard to sum up, but suffice it to say, its impact on American politics has been enormous, and it’s one I certainly feel personally. Americans across the country usually have little reason to pay close attention to the politics of New York City — despite its size and status as the world’s financial capital — because it rarely affects them. However, as New Yorkers head to the ballot box next week to vote in the most significant mayoral race in decades, the eyes of the nation are fixated on the rise of a Marxist-Islamist as their likely choice in a city the nation rallied around in the wake of the attacks of 9/11.Zohran Mamdani, a self-proclaimed socialist, pro-Islamist, and naturalized U.S. citizen from Uganda, is poised to win the race.

Over 50 years since America’s withdrawal from the Vietnam War, history has legitimized and vindicated its sacrifice in the Vietnam War.While few Americans have noticed, Vietnam’s new General Secretary of the Communist Party, To Lam, has replaced Marxist-Leninism as the Party’s governing ideology with something more authentically Vietnamese: Truong Ton Dan Toc, or “Vietnamese nationalism.” That is a bombshell. Hanoi has just abandoned its Communist ideology, which governed it since 1954 and sustained it in its wars against the United States and its ally South Vietnam, and with its Communist neighbors, Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

As Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits dry up during Democrats’ government shutdown, the left-wing media along with millions of Americans reliant on SNAP are complaining about the lapse in coverage. But mixed into these complaints is a viral article highlighting that roughly 90,000 noncitizens will also lose SNAP access — not because of the shutdown, but because of the One Big Beautiful Bill. Advocates for noncitizens using taxpayer-funded welfare are using the moment of outrage about SNAP benefits pausing to pile on their grievances.

British voters across the political spectrum are much more likely to hold strong views on immigration and even ethnic homogeneity than Americans, with 70 per cent of right-wing voters saying it’s bad for society “if white people decline as a share of the population”.
Britons have long been considered to be comfortably to the left of their American cousins on practically all political matters. While this remains largely true, new research shows that Britons from both the left and right are considerably more forthright than their American counterparts on immigration policy questions.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier today announced that he has filed a bill of complaint with the United States Supreme Court against the State of California, challenging its corporate taxation rules. Florida argues that a specific California tax regulation unconstitutionally targets and over-taxes multi-state businesses, particularly those operating across state lines, which Florida claims is directly harming its economy and discouraging companies from relocating or expanding to freer states. “California has created a tax system that punishes economic freedom,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. The government claims to fight “child poverty” by providing benefits to low-income families so their children don’t starve. These programs also cover the citizen children of illegal aliens. Eligibility is based on the parents’ income. However, illegal aliens working off the books do not have Social Security numbers, do not file income tax declarations, and are not even supposed to be employed. Because their income cannot be verified, the government simply accepts whatever number they write down. And if it is below threshold, the government gives them benefits. Lots going on this Halloween week, but hands down the number one story in the world of memes is the trick that Zohran Mamdani is about to play on New York City. Suffice it to say that memesters are not happy about it. Nor are they happy about the continuing Schumer Shutdown, while at the same time they seem to have mixed feelings about the impending loss of food stamps by 8% of the American population. And President Trump’s renovation of the East Wing is still prompting some meme amusement.
