The Week In Pictures: Trick or Treat Edition

Lots going on this Halloween week, but hands down the number one story in the world of memes is the trick that Zohran Mamdani is about to play on New York City. Suffice it to say that memesters are not happy about it. Nor are they happy about the continuing Schumer Shutdown, while at the same time they seem to have mixed feelings about the impending loss of food stamps by 8% of the American population. And President Trump’s renovation of the East Wing is still prompting some meme amusement. So here goes: The Week In Pictures, Trick or Treat Edition.

On the food stamps by ethnicity meme: How come only four ethnicities - Afghan, Somali, Iraqi, Hatian (whatever that is) - are getting 146.1 percent of food stamps issued? You see that this means NO people for any other ethnicities, including native-born Blacks, are getting ANY food stamps? Is that the joke?

#5, it's the percentages of those ethnic groups who are receiving food stamps.

#6, That's what the chart's heading says (actually says "Food Stamps by Ethnicity), but with the percentages given, that is not possible. Reportedly, 41,700,000 people in America get food stamps monthly. The percentage of Afghans on that chart is 42%. 42% of 41,7000,000 equals 17,514,000. Do you really think there are 17,514,000 Afghans in the US? What that 42% on the chart actually represents is the percentage of Afghans immigrants receiving food stamps. 2023 figures say 200,000 Afghan immigrants, so let's be generous and say 300,000 for 2025. 42% of 300,000 would be 126,000 Afghan immigrants receiving food stamps. That chart is seriously flawed (and they can't spell, either.)

I'll try again with smaller words. Forty-two percent of Afghanis in the US get food stamps. It's not saying 42 percent of all recipients are Afghani.

Canada’s conservative outlet Juno News depicts Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney as an incompetent, narcissistic leader who has done nothing to improve our country’s image on the world stage or to legislate for solvency and freedom of expression in the domestic realm. He is now at the helm of a faltering country that has little hope of struggling back on its feet. Indeed, it is hard not to suspect that Carney and his Liberals, like the sinister Democrats in the U.S., are driven by a double agenda against the welfare of their own citizens: to deprive them of their political rights and freedoms via legislative and policy initiatives

In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, everyone should be praying for rapid relief to many who suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones (at least 49 died), homes, businesses, and other property, likely to surpass $8 billion. At the same time, we can be thankful that losses were far lower than they might have been, since its path didn’t include areas with far more people and property. Having wrought havoc in Jamaica as a Category 5 hurricane, followed by Haiti, eastern Cuba, and parts of the Bahamas (all Cat-3), Melissa was on its way northeast into the open Atlantic, with Bermuda likely to suffer from it as well,

Back in February, when it was learned that conservative icon and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk would appear on the inaugural episode of Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom's podcast, there was a lot of debate and pushback from liberals and conservatives. Leftists were upset that Newsom was platforming someone who, in their view, was the very definition of an evil conservative. And there was disagreement on the right on Kirk choosing to break bread with Newsom. Some said Kirk shouldn't give Newsom the time of day because the governor was clearly trying to give off the appearance that he was more of a middle-of-the-road guy ahead of a possible 2028

A release Wednesday from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Omaha revealed the Oct. 4 shooting in Omaha happened just months after former President Joe Biden gave the man, 31-year-old Khyre Holbert, clemency. Pretty much every calculation you have ever seen relating to “green” energy–cost estimates, productivity claims, and so on–has been wrong. “Green” energy really is a scam, as President Trump says. It is consistently sold on the basis of fake science. The latest case in point comes from Great Britain, via the Telegraph: “Miliband admits wind power less reliable than expected.” The Government has slashed forecasts for the amount of electricity it expects wind farms to generate in a blow to Ed Miliband’s net zero plans. In documents published before an auction of green energy subsidies this week, officials said they were revising down the predicted efficiency of wind turbines by more than

Describing it as "worse than Watergate," Sen. All of this was done under the guise of going after President Donald Trump over the 2020 election, and eight GOP senators also had their phone records subpoenaed, among other intrusions. That's where things get even crazier. According to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), infamous left-wing Judge James Boasberg was near the heart of this scandal,

The potential suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits could significantly impact retailers nationwide, particularly those heavily reliant on lower-income shoppers. The looming halt in benefits, set to begin November 1 if the government shutdown continues, would cut off food aid for roughly 42 million Americans.
