Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado — who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize Friday — said she is counting on President Trump now “more than ever” as her movement is on the “threshold of victory.”
“This immense recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is an impetus to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom,” she told The Post in a statement from her South American hideout after the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced her win.
“We are on the threshold of victory and today more than ever we count on President Trump, the people of the United States,

Donald Trump began his promised mass purge of federal workers Friday, as more than 4,100 people were laid off as the government shutdown rolls on. The president previewed the pink slips in a press conference in the Oval Office earlier Friday, blaming them and the shutdown on the Democrats. 'It'll be a lot and it'll be Democrat-oriented because we figure they started this thing. It'll be a lot of people, all because of the Democrats,' Trump said.
It's the biggest set of firings in government since Elon Musk's DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) purge early in Trump's second term. The White House budget office said Friday that mass firings

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Friday that “there seems to be no reason” to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping as part of an upcoming trip to South Korea after China restricted exports of rare earths needed for American industry.
The Republican president suggested that he was looking at a “massive increase” of import taxes on Chinese products in response to Xi’s moves.
“One of the Policies that we are calculating at this moment is a massive increase of Tariffs on Chinese products coming into the United States of America,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “There are many other countermeasures that are, likewise, under serious consideration.”

Sex offender Richard Kenneth Cox claimed to be transgender in order to access women’s bathrooms and locker rooms in Virginia where he exposed himself to women and young girls. When he reached out to a local school board member using an alias to complain about a pool’s locker-room policy and the alleged transphobic treatment he faced, he received a sympathetic reply.
Arlington School Board member Kathleen Clark told Cox that she hoped he “did not experience transphobic statements from the staff. You should be able to use the showers

The Washington Post, even after owner Jeff Bezos's shakeups, is anything but a publication friendly to Republicans or the Trump administration. But even members of the legacy media sometimes have to admit the obvious.
One of those is Washington Post Marc A. Thiessen, who on Thursday penned a piece making the case for President Trump being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This isn't a new notion; the idea's been kicked around before. But the calls seem to be getting louder.
Not only does Donald Trump deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, but there has arguably never been an American president who deserved it more.

MELBOURNE, Florida — The Florida man accused of sparking the flames that burned swaths of Los Angeles to the ground in the Palisades Fire posted on social media about how global warming causes wildfires.
Jonathan Rinderknecht, 29, regularly took to Facebook to share posts about eco-apocalypses, mocking President Trump and his supporters, and pushing people to become vegans.
One article he shared – “Climate Change Will Force a New American Migration,” from ProPublica – even included a thumbnail showing wildfires raging across a California hillside neighborhood. That 2020 story opened by discussing blazing West Coast temperatures.
It’s eerily – and ironically – similar to the situation Rinderknecht is accused

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth made a shocking announcement about enlistment after ridding the U.S. military of its woke invasion, and he credited President Donald Trump's leadership as the main reason.
During Trump's cabinet meeting at the White House on Thursday, Hegseth revealed that recruitment and reenlistment were at record levels, exceeding goals they had set for the year. "We saw record recruitment in 2025, Mr. President," Hegseth said in front of the press. "The first two weeks of [Fiscal Year] 2026 [which starts in October] already blows that out …[FY 2026] already blows it out the water."
"In fact, reenlistment has already reached

Dominion Voting systems has been acquired by founder and chairman of Liberty Vote Scott Leiendecker, in a deal which included dropping lawsuits against conservatives.
Leiendecker, former GOP election reform advocate, has officially become the sole owner of Dominion after making the deal contingent on dropping several remaining lawsuits against prominent conservatives and One America News Network (OANN).
Leiendecker further disclosed to the Caller that remaining litigation with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Trump campaign attorney Sidney Powell will be dropped by Dominion Voting Systems as part of the acquisition agreement.

Democratic Virginia gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger refused, several times in a row, to withdraw her endorsement of Democratic candidate for state attorney general Jay Jones during the gubernatorial debate Thursday, saying the decision is “up to the voters.”
Her opponent, Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, used her allotted time for the first question — on the Virginia car tax — to ask Spanberger if she would not only denounce the texts, but also withdraw her endorsement of Jones.
Spanberger did not speak on the subject until the second question, when she was explicitly asked if she would not only withdraw her endorsement but also

Hamas has agreed to a peace deal pushed by President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and return the hostages, two years after the terrorist network attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, sparking not only the bloodiest day for Jews since the Holocaust, but a deadly war and a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to make the announcement: "I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw

A Florida firebug has been arrested for allegedly “maliciously” sparking the Palisades Fire — the most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles history — that left 12 dead and caused about $150 billion in damages earlier this year, the feds revealed Wednesday.
Jonathan Rinderknecht, 29, is accused of sparking January’s raging inferno that devastated more than 6,000 homes and buildings in the wealthy coastal enclave.
“Rinderknecht started a fire in Pacific Palisades on New Year’s Day — a blaze that eventually turned into one of the most destructive fires in Los Angeles history, causing death and widespread destruction,” Acting US Attorney Bill Essayli said.

On Monday, during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) said that the Trump administration was normalizing the presence of the military in cities, allowing them to use these forces to confiscate ballot boxes and recount votes to alter unfavorable results of the 2026 midterm elections.
Pritzker said, “The broader goal, I believe, is the militarization of major American cities before the 2026 elections. Let me be clear about what’s going on on the streets of Chicago. They have dressed ICE and CBP in fatigues, put them in military gear, including with automatic weapons, and had them marching up
