‘I use cannabis as medicine’: the
US basketball player facing execution
in Indonesia over $400 of gummies

When Jarred Shaw, an American basketball player in Indonesia, stepped down to the lobby in his apartment complex earlier this year to collect a package containing illegally imported cannabis gummies, he thought that the medicine to ease his Crohn’s disease had arrived. It had – but so too had 10 undercover police officers. A video on social media shows Shaw, wearing a black T-shirt and shorts, shouting for help as the swarm of officers move to apprehend him. The 35-year-old from Dallas, Texas, is facing the possibility of the death penalty or a long spell behind bars. He was a key member of Prawira Bandung, who won the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL)

FTA: "Shaw was swiftly paraded at a press conference, appearing with his hands cuffed wearing an orange prison-issue T-shirt and a black face mask. He stood with his back to the audience as police chiefs exhibited the cannabis gummies, which weigh 869 grams in total and are worth $400." A life for $400 worth of gummies. Whew! In Indonesia, they don't mess about, do they? Incidentally, Britney Griner is identified as female in this article. "She" isn't. Russia knew that, and incarcerated "her" in a men's prison.

I've lived with pain for the last 30 years, plus all the symptoms of Chrons. Ugly thing have happened to my body. Back in the day, I was given Hydrocodone to stop the main issue and it worked like a charm. Then came the big opioid 'scandal' and my dr had to stop giving them to me. I'm back to long, miserable nights and lots of spasms and pain. There are legitimate reasons for pain meds and no OTC is not nearly enough. I'm never far away from a bathroom now and that's not a nice way to live. If this man gets relief from the gummies, who gets to tell him that's too bad, just keep suffering.

I have some pain pretty much all of the time, but getting out of bed and chairs is really stressing I have thought of using CBD's but I volunteer at an Ambulance and can't be worried about testing positive for Marijuana. Don't know if the stuff works or not anyway. My thoughts here are the death penalty for Gummies is a bit drastic, and so is long term imprisonment. Banishment and being sent home is the best answer in My opinion, but I don't run Indonesia. Then I think WTH is wrong with this guy, he is going to a foreign country to play B-ball and surely he knows what happened to Griner. With his intellect how did he get into college.?

Execution for illegally importing and possessing pot is a bit extreme. I would have a different opinion had he/she been a dealer. Maybe liberals will conclude that maybe the US isn't so bad after all. Nevermind, what was I thinking. The US is probably the most permissive country on earth. Things that we take for granted, like women's rights, women working and voting, gay rights etc, will get you killed or imprisoned in half the world. Free speech exists no where outside of the US. In Italy asprin is not over the counter and changing your name is a crime.

#10... Have you tried Low Dose Naltrexone? It is as safe as a baby aspirine, costs about 50 cents per day and was rated as the most effective treatment at a site that follows treatments from chronic conditions. My son took it for a few years after his Crohn's diagnosis. He went into remission and only had one relapse when he went off to college and started to eat a bunch of bad food and probably did not keep up with his doses. Seriously... look into it. It has been a God send to many with autoimmune disorders. I take it myself as a preventative against general inflammation.

A death sentence for some cannabis for personal use is both immoral and unbelievably cruel. Perhaps Trump will threaten Indonesia with massive tariffs if this guy is not simply deported and banned. That said, you have to be stupid to travel there or have cannabis in any form. In fact, Indonesia should not be on anyone's travel list. Too many decent and safer places to visit.

Whether any of the remaining points of President Trump’s peace plan are ever implemented, remains to be seen. But memesters gave Trump credit for saving the lives that could be saved. There is a fundamental misconception about what is happening politically in this country, and it may be helpful to reconsider a particular assumption that is creating cognitive dissonance throughout American culture. That assumption is that Democrats are a political party. Consequently, every measure of their behavior seems unexplainable. The assumption is incorrect. They have accelerated their devolution as a political entity over the last decade and have now arrived at a stable, if not entirely American, end state. The leaders, elected officeholders, and members have now been completely subsumed into a Communist Death Cult. The recent past is only a prologue for what is to come.

Democrats shut down the government partly to force Republicans to extend COVID-era boosts in Obamacare subsidies that Dems once called “temporary” but now say are needed to keep the program viable. This reveals what a true disaster Obamacare has been, as its critics warned even as Dems were ramming it into law with not a single Republican vote in 2010. Blindly tossing fresh trillions down that hole is nuts: Time to fix it — or scrap it altogether. The 10-year cost of Dems’ current demand totals almost a half-trillion dollars, to benefit primarily insurers and wealthier Americans.
