Well, they did it. Even after President Donald Trump telegraphed that they were walking into a trap by shutting the government down, Democrats slammed the red button anyway. How's the messaging on that going? Let's just say it's not going very well.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) kicked off a "Stop the Republican Shutdown" live stream overnight, and it may be the least-watched political event in modern history. As morning approached, the live stream was creatively renamed "Stop the Republican Shutdown Pt. 2," with various Democrats rotating through to shake their fists at the sky. When "transgender" Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) took the

Former President Joe Biden frequently relied on palm cards as "cheat sheets" during press events throughout his presidency, often cited as evidence of cognitive decline. In a Tuesday report, Fox News revealed that Biden used these aids even for long-time allies like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, whom he has known for decades.
Reporting from Fox News Digital on Tuesday revealed that note cards from the Biden era show that the former president’s staffers compiled the names and photos of several high-profile Democrats, including Clinton, and then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, among others, for him to reference in his remarks.

Congressional Republicans and Democrats have failed to reach an agreement to avert a government shutdown before a midnight deadline, resulting in the first government funding lapse of President Trump’s second term.
A shutdown seemed increasingly likely as the deadline approached, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.) leaving a closed-door meeting between Trump and top congressional leaders on Monday afternoon saying “significant and meaningful differences” remained. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) argued that the Republican bill to fund the government “has not one iota of Democratic input.”

Senate Democrats have blocked a Republican bill that would have extended federal funding for seven weeks, with the final tally coming in at 55-45, short of the 60 votes needed to break the filibuster. This puts the government on a fast track toward its first shutdown in nearly seven years, all because Democrats decided now was the time to dig in their heels.
The Republican bill was straightforward, a clean funding extension that should have sailed through without drama. But Democrats refused to play ball unless Republicans agreed to negotiate on extending Obamacare subsidies and other Democratic priorities.

The Department of Homeland Security said announced Tuesday that an internal investigation has uncovered “widespread abuses” carried out by Biden administration officials, including the Transportation Security Administration having been “weaponized” against Americans.
The agency, in the joint announcement with the TSA, also said the findings are being referred to the Justice Department.
In the announcement, acting agency TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill, said the Biden-era officials “under the direction and leadership” of previous TSA Administrator David Pekoske had “systematically watch-listed and denied boarding

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gathered hundreds of the nation’s top military leaders in Quantico, Virginia Tuesday morning to lay out his vision for restoring the military’s “warrior ethos” by rolling back the left-wing indoctrination that’s taken hold at the Pentagon in recent years.
Warning the assembled generals to “do the honorable thing and resign” if they rejected his message, Hegseth called out the leaders for allowing physical fitness standards to slide while diverting valuable time and resources towards politically fashionable causes related to race, gender, and the environment.

Over the weekend, the Wall Street Journal offered a deeply reported analysis of the young socialists who are fueling the Democratic Party’s lurch to the left in the past years, tracing it back to economic anxieties of the Great Recession. There’s an eye-opening description of a meeting of communists in Philadelphia:
On a recent evening, 15 comrades from the Northwest Philadelphia cell of the Revolutionary Communists of America gathered for their weekly meeting in a classroom at Thomas Jefferson University.

There must be something in the water for Virginia Democrats, as the last several weeks have seen an alarming rise in extremist rhetoric and alleged death threats directed at Republican state lawmakers, including Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, who is running for governor.
The latest one involves a text message that Republican Del. Geary Higgins, who is up for reelection in November, allegedly received and which contained a message indicating that the sender was going to shoot Higgins while also noting that "I know where your * kids are too."
ABC 7's Nick Minock revealed that the suspect was said to be motivated by

As we've talked about before, the August murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte's light rail system, allegedly at the hands of a violent repeat offender, has created a ripple effect at all levels of government amid President Trump's national crackdown on crime.
Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate, for instance, have introduced legislation dealing with, among other things, strengthening transit crime reporting and oversight.
And on Monday, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight held a field hearing at a Charlotte courthouse to talk about victims of crime, to hear stories from their families, and to advocate

United States President Donald Trump has proposed a 20-point peace plan to end the war in Gaza after holding talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who welcomed the proposal.
The new proposal, which calls for the disarmament of Hamas, has been welcomed by the Palestinian Authority (PA), which governs in the occupied West Bank, along with some regional Arab countries. Hamas says that it is studying the US proposal “in good faith”, while the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) group says that the plan is a “recipe to blow up the region”.
Below are the reactions from regional and Western countries.

President Donald Trump on Monday fast-tracked his administration's efforts to secure peace in Gaza, rolling out a detailed vision for a U.S.-backed ceasefire that the White House says will bring the war to an immediate end.
He said Israel has accepted the proposal but the success of the plan still hinges on the cooperation of Hamas.
"We're at a minimum, very, very close," Trump said during a news conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. Speaking alongside the president, Netanyahu appeared to sign off on the proposal.

YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit involving the suspension of President Donald Trump's account following the U.S. Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021.
The settlement "shall not constitute an admission of liability or fault," on behalf of the defendants or related parties, according to a filing on Monday from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Trump sued YouTube, Facebook and Twitter in mid-2021, after the companies suspended his accounts on their platforms over concerns related to the incitement of violence.
Since Trump won a second term in November and returned to the White House in January, the tech companies
