You Call This A Shutdown?

Once again, we are being treated to a fusillade of stories about the horrors of a government shutdown. But we invite readers to consider this: Roughly two-thirds of government spending will continue despite the “shutdown.” In other words, there is absolutely no reason for Republicans to cave on Democratic demands that Medicaid benefits for illegals and Obamacare subsidies for higher-income families be restored. The longer the federal government remains shut down, the more people will realize how meaningless it is, and the less leverage Democrats will have.

My advice is a little different. Carefully dissect the $4.8 trillion and separate the freebies (payments for which the receiver has made absolutely no contribution) and start shutting them down. As far as possible permanently.

Absolutely agree that Republicans should let dems hang twisting in the wind, as initiated by their own hands, until they completely capitulate. They should get absolutely NOTHING for their stupid efforts. Further, Republicans should be ready to point out to everyone that the dems achieved absolutely NOTHING and that their intentions were foolish. There should be no saving face for dems. It should be pointed out that the Republicans offered a "clean" resolution of status quo that should have evoked no resistance but that dems tried to bully the CR process to overthrow proper legislative process. It was a act of punks (cowards, weaklings, and worthless people), the new definition of the dem party.

The messaging needs to focus on the following: We offered a CLEAN continuing resolution to keep the government open The Democrats CHOSE to shut the government down because they demanded we BORROW $1.5 trillion for healthcare for illegal immigrants. Sadly, many government workers will have a hard time due to the Democrats' demands.

The Democrats are counting on the lying media to support them and blame Trump. Have they mentioned "democracy" yet? Keep it shut down until Doge can continue to get rid of the Federal workers who don't work. I have two family members who just retired from government work. They actually did their jobs and worked. They are perfectly fine with cleaning up the government waste, fraud, and abuse because they saw first hand the people who didn't do their jobs.

The 'Rats have adopted the Islamist method of 'negotiating'. "First, give me EVERYTHING that I WANT, then we'll TALK about giving YOU what YOU want." But the 'Rats are in the minority, and their 'comrades' in the Lamestreams no longer have a monopoly on the word getting out. The 'Rat's lies and bullying will fail this time... I hope! I tell the man who drives the trash truck: "Your job is not glamorous, but it's important. All those big-name politicians in Washington can take a month off and no-one notices, but if you take a week off, everyone is hurting. Thank you for being here." I suggest that everyone call your Senate office and tell your Republican Senators to stand firm. If you are unfortunate enough to have a 'Rat senator, call him or her, and tell them to COOPERATE with the Republicans for the good of the Nation.

Computer industry executives, economists, government officials and businesspeople all seem to be very high on the prospects for artificial intelligence (AI). But what about average Americans? They mostly believe AI should be feared, not embraced, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. To kick off the three-question national online poll on AI, I&I/TIPP first asked 1,362 Americans the following: “Do you think artificial intelligence (AI) will mostly create new jobs, mostly take away jobs, or not make much difference?” It wasn’t close. Last week, Google admitted to Congress that it served as the Biden administration’s censorship enforcer. Which is bad enough. But then it followed up this admission with a lie. In a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, the tech colossus said that under pressure from the administration, it silenced voices that were challenging Joe Biden’s COVID-19 policies. “Senior Biden administration officials, including White House officials, conducted repeated and sustained outreach to Alphabet and pressed the Company regarding certain user-generated content related to the COVID-19

For years, we were told by government officials and outside “experts” that the terrorists in our midst were mostly right-wing fanatics – a list that under the Biden administration came to include parents who spoke up at local school board meetings and Catholics who like the Latin mass. But even the left is now admitting what everyone else already knows. Namely, that despite their constant bleating about tolerance and peace, it’s leftists who pose the greatest threat to Americans. This week, the Trump-hating Atlantic magazine published an article titled “Left-Wing Terrorism Is on the Rise,” written by scholars at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

The California Legislature passed, and Gov. Gavin Newsom eagerly signed, a bill that forbids law enforcement officers from concealing their identities with masks. The law applies to local as well as federal officers, but it’s clearly intended to make it easier to dox federal immigration agents. Of course the administration says it will ignore the law. So what happens when local and state officers try to enforce it? A war? California also forbids federal agents from enforcing immigration law in state courthouses. Again, the potential for blue-on-blue violence is ramped up by a Democratic

How do Americans feel about this? They mostly favor local control, but don’t entirely reject federal involvement in local policing, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. It’s been amusing to watch the left’s reaction to ABC giving the boot to Jimmy Kimmel. Not because of their rank hypocrisy when it comes to censorship. Or their claim that firing a low-rated late-night “comic” means “authoritarianism has arrived.” Or the fact that they are far more outraged that Kimmel lost his time slot than that Charlie Kirk lost his life over things they said. What’s most amusing is how blissfully ignorant they are about how the news and entertainment industry works these days. First, let’s dispense with the censorship ruse. ABC is a private company and is entitled

The federal government partially shut down at midnight Wednesday, hours after all but three Senate Democrats voted down a short-term funding bill. The shutdown is the first since December 2018, which saw non-essential government operations cease and tens of thousands of federal employees furloughed or forced to work without pay for 35 days until lawmakers agreed on a stopgap funding measure. White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought notified federal department and agency heads shortly after Tuesday’s failed Senate vote to keep the government funded to begin preparations for a shutdown.
