Jane Goodall, the intellectual, soft-spoken conservationist renowned for her groundbreaking, immersive chimpanzee field research in which she documented the primates’ distinct personalities and use of tools, has died. She was 91. The environmental advocate became a beloved household name who transcended generations through her appearances in documentaries and on television, as well as her travels to address packed auditoriums around the world. The Jane Goodall Institute announced the primatologist’s death Wednesday in an Instagram post.

I saw on TV this morning that she has a son. Did they call him a chimp off the old block? Too soon?

Sure, she did great research, but does anyone besides me think that one has to be a bit strange to spend your entire life living alone among monkeys?

I note that the article does not mention her surprise if not shock from witnessing chimps savagely attacking each other. The Jane Goodall Institute notes that chimps can be just as aggressive and violent towards each other as humans. AP should do better.

She was a vegan who passionately advocated against the mistreatment of animals--but she was also a financial sponsor of a group called Population Matters, which endorses abortion as a means of population control. So apparently she was willing to kill humans to save animals. God have mercy on her soul.

I remember when "Gorillas in the Mist" about Diane Fossey came out - Goodall was a protege intern that had come out to study with her. Turns out she liked Diane Fossey's boyfriend at the time as well.

A large fire erupted at a Los Angeles County refinery following an explosion on Thursday night. Officers and firefighters responded to the Chevron refinery in El Segundo after receiving multiple reports of an explosion. The El Segundo Police Department is not aware of any immediate injuries or evacuations. A witness said the explosion felt like a small earthquake. The refinery has its own fire department. According to Chevron's website, the El Segundo refinery was constructed in 1911. The facility produces 276,000 barrels of crude oil every day and "is the largest producing oil refinery on the west coast,"

Notice how, now that the republic is embroiled in the Schumer Shutdown, Democrats are suddenly all a-twitter about Republican claims that they were favoring healthcare benefits for illegal aliens at taxpayer expense? Well, let's hop in the Wayback Machine and have Mr. Peabody take us back to 2020, and the Democratic Party's presidential primary debate. Remember this? Here's the question from NBC News' Savannah Guthrie that they are all answering in the affirmative: You've been talking tonight about these government healthcare plans that you've proposed in one form or another. This is a show of hands question,

The religion of Islam teaches that raping and killing non-Muslims is a holy and necessary action. Is it any surprise, therefore, that some of the Muslim immigrants to Europe and America admit frankly that their goal is, quite simply, conquest and transformation? San Diego Imam Uthman Ibn Farooq delivered an address in Birmingham, Great Britain, which should chill the heart of every American patriot. America and Europe will be Muslim, the imam excitedly predicted, urging his fellow Muslims not to water down a single word of their religion, which includes explicit commands to rape, assault, conquer, and murder “infidels.” The imam even referenced a desire to be a “martyr,”

That’s something that Vladimir Putin would do. That’s something that Kim Jong Un would do, or Xi

In 1956's The Ten Commandments, after Yul Brynner's Pharaoh released the Hebrew slaves from bondage, his Queen, Nefertiri, played by Anne Baxter, was bitter at losing her son in the final plague God brought on Egypt during the first Passover. She uttered the question, dripping with condescension, "Do you hear laughter, Pharaoh?" The same laughter of mocking and derision is cascading down on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and the rest of the Congressional and Senate Democrats in the wake of the Schumer shutdown, now entering Day 2. If there has to be a government shutdown, October is as good a month as any

Readers may remember Chubby Checker's big hit, "Limbo Rock." The calypso-inspired song hit #2 on Billboard and took the top spot on Casbox in 1962, and remains a staple on oldies stations. The repeated phrase, "How low can you go?", still inspires backaches and laughter at parties, especially after a few drinks. CHICAGO — The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a ban on private drone flights over the entire City of Chicago and stretching into the northern, western and southern suburbs. “Temporary flight restrictions for Special Security Reasons” is the stated reason for the drone ban, which began Wednesday and continues through Oct. 12. An FAA spokesperson referred questions about the reasons behind the ban to Homeland Security, which did not respond to a request for comment from WGN Investigates. The ban comes at a time of heightened tension in Chicago as federal immigration agents have been carrying out unannounced operations and arrests. It’s unclear if the two are connected. A New York Times poll shows that public support for enforcing migration laws is solid, despite bitter resistance from progressives and the establishment media. Fifty-two percent of 1,313 registered voters support President Donald Trump’s policy of “deporting immigrants living in the United States illegally back to their home countries,” according to the September 22-27 poll. The support is unchanged from April 2025. The policy is strongly opposed by just 24 percent, down by two percent from April. Self-described independents split: 53 percent support versus 25 percent “strongly oppose.” Ninety-five percent of Trump’s 2024 voters back his policy.

Charlie Kirk is dead. Americans must face why. His murder was not random, not confusing, not detached from the battles he fought so fiercely in life. It was the direct consequence of his bold refusal to bend before one of the most aggressive and destabilizing ideologies of our time: transgender radicalism. For years, Kirk warned about the dangers of this movement. Not just its cultural consequences, but the deeper crisis of mental illness and violence it has unleashed across the nation. In the end, his voice was silenced by precisely the pestilence he spent his career opposing. The facts are painfully clear. On Sept. 13, 2025, police captured Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old suspect

Zohran Mamdani just offered fresh proof of his deep anti-cop bigotry with his call to shift key powers to discipline officers to the Civilian Complaint Review Board. It’s a terrible fix for a problem that doesn’t exist — and one that would lead to worse policing, and so more crime; it would likely even produce a force with far more bad cops. “What I would do is ensure that the recommendations of the CCRB be understood to be the final voice of the question of accountability,” Mamdani says — without pointing to any actual bad results of the current law, which gives final say to the police commissioner.
