Democrats Totally Walked Right Into a
Shutdown Trap

Democrats thought they had a winning strategy when they voted to shut down the government. They assumed they could pin it on Republicans, rally their base, and walk away with political momentum. Instead, what they’ve created looks like a textbook self-own, handing the GOP a golden opportunity while leaving themselves with little to show for all the drama. Democrats initiated the shutdown, blocked a clean continuing resolution in the Senate, and now they’re left holding the bag for a political stunt that backfired in ways they never imagined. In fact, even MSNBC is reporting that some Democrats are already wanting to cave.

President Donald Trump's administration has asked US colleges to sign a deal on certain terms to get preferential access to federal funds, the Wall Street Journal reported late on Wednesday, citing a 10-point memo. An initial round of nine schools was asked to sign the wide-ranging accord, The memo demands that schools ban the use of race or sex in hiring and admissions, freeze tuition for five years, cap international undergrad enrollment at 15%, require that applicants take the SAT or a similar test, and quell grade inflation, the report added.the newspaper reported.

To hear the Democrats tell it, the policies of the Trump administration have been a catastrophic failure and Americans are in a state of near-revolt. But the truth is more or less the opposite. Today Rasmussen published charts comparing approval of President Joe Biden with that of President Trump. These are monthly averages, so daily ups and downs are smoothed out: President Trump is markedly more popular than Joe Biden was, and his approval has held essentially steady since his inauguration. You may say that Biden represents a low bar, and of course that is true. But up to the bitter end, Democrats at least claimed

President Donald Trump’s administration has blocked $18 billion in funding for New York City infrastructure projects after hitting out at Democratic leaders from the state over the government shutdown. The Department of Transportation paused $18 billion in funding for the Hudson Tunnel Project and the Second Ave Subway on Wednesday to ensure funding is “not flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles,” Russ Vought, the director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, wrote on X.

Well, they did it. Even after President Donald Trump telegraphed that they were walking into a trap by shutting the government down, Democrats slammed the red button anyway. How's the messaging on that going? Let's just say it's not going very well. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) kicked off a "Stop the Republican Shutdown" live stream overnight, and it may be the least-watched political event in modern history. As morning approached, the live stream was creatively renamed "Stop the Republican Shutdown Pt. 2," with various Democrats rotating through to shake their fists at the sky. When "transgender" Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) took the

Former President Joe Biden frequently relied on palm cards as "cheat sheets" during press events throughout his presidency, often cited as evidence of cognitive decline. In a Tuesday report, Fox News revealed that Biden used these aids even for long-time allies like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, whom he has known for decades. Reporting from Fox News Digital on Tuesday revealed that note cards from the Biden era show that the former president’s staffers compiled the names and photos of several high-profile Democrats, including Clinton, and then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, among others, for him to reference in his remarks.

Congressional Republicans and Democrats have failed to reach an agreement to avert a government shutdown before a midnight deadline, resulting in the first government funding lapse of President Trump’s second term. A shutdown seemed increasingly likely as the deadline approached, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.) leaving a closed-door meeting between Trump and top congressional leaders on Monday afternoon saying “significant and meaningful differences” remained. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) argued that the Republican bill to fund the government “has not one iota of Democratic input.”
Breaking: Senate Democrats Vote to Shut

Senate Democrats have blocked a Republican bill that would have extended federal funding for seven weeks, with the final tally coming in at 55-45, short of the 60 votes needed to break the filibuster. This puts the government on a fast track toward its first shutdown in nearly seven years, all because Democrats decided now was the time to dig in their heels. The Republican bill was straightforward, a clean funding extension that should have sailed through without drama. But Democrats refused to play ball unless Republicans agreed to negotiate on extending Obamacare subsidies and other Democratic priorities.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gathered hundreds of the nation’s top military leaders in Quantico, Virginia Tuesday morning to lay out his vision for restoring the military’s “warrior ethos” by rolling back the left-wing indoctrination that’s taken hold at the Pentagon in recent years. Warning the assembled generals to “do the honorable thing and resign” if they rejected his message, Hegseth called out the leaders for allowing physical fitness standards to slide while diverting valuable time and resources towards politically fashionable causes related to race, gender, and the environment.

There’s an eye-opening description of a meeting of communists in Philadelphia: On a recent evening, 15 comrades from the Northwest Philadelphia cell of the Revolutionary Communists of America gathered for their weekly meeting in a classroom at Thomas Jefferson University.

Having grown up Catholic, and having attended Catholic mass quite recently, I feel particular sadness over the following story. In fact, it reminded me of why I once turned to one of history’s greatest Anglicans, the legendary Christian author C.S. In a video posted to YouTube on Tuesday, a reporter from the Catholic television network EWTN asked Pope Leo XIV to help people of faith understand a decision by Cardinal Blase Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, to honor pro-abortion Democratic Sen. Election Day 2025 is just around the corner. While it may not be covered with the same intensity as the 2026 midterm elections, Democrats can no longer afford to focus on what happened in 2024. To win upcoming elections, my fellow Democrats must go beyond criticizing President Trump’s awful actions and policies. They must advocate for programs that most people believe will improve their lives by making America more affordable.Democratic candidates are doing this now as they campaign in the only two races for governor this year, in Virginia and New Jersey. The federal government partially shut down at midnight Wednesday, hours after all but three Senate Democrats voted down a short-term funding bill. The shutdown is the first since December 2018, which saw non-essential government operations cease and tens of thousands of federal employees furloughed or forced to work without pay for 35 days until lawmakers agreed on a stopgap funding measure. White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought notified federal department and agency heads shortly after Tuesday’s failed Senate vote to keep the government funded to begin preparations for a shutdown. This week, federal officials made an astounding announcement: Nearly half of all immigrants in greater Minneapolis were found to have committed some form of immigration fraud. The fraud, uncovered in a September sweep, came in all kinds — sham marriages, fake death certificates and “other bizarre schemes,” as US Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edley put it. But the revelation was no great surprise to those of us who have followed the settlement of some 100,000 Somali immigrants in Minnesota over the past three decades. As far back as 2008, the State Department temporarily suspended one of the family reunification programs used by Somali immigrants when DNA testing of applicants

Once again, we are being treated to a fusillade of stories about the horrors of a government shutdown. But we invite readers to consider this: Roughly two-thirds of government spending will continue despite the “shutdown.” In other words, there is absolutely no reason for Republicans to cave on Democratic demands that Medicaid benefits for illegals and Obamacare subsidies for higher-income families be restored. The longer the federal government remains shut down, the more people will realize how meaningless it is, and the less leverage Democrats will have.

Richard Cox, a prolific, 58-year-old registered sex offender, allegedly exposed himself to little girls and women in the girls’ locker rooms. He was also found with child pornography and a schedule of girls’ swim class schedules at Fairfax County rec centers on his phone, cops said.
