The War of the Murdochs appears to have come to an end.
The media sector’s prominent Murdoch family settled a long-running dispute Monday that will leave Lachlan Murdoch in control of voting shares that govern both News Corp. and Fox Corp. while selling off stakes in the company attached to founder Rupert Murdoch’s other children who had challenged their father’s ability to restructure his heirs’ oversight of both corporations. Fox Corp. and News Corp. both said Monday that the family had terminated all litigation tied to the elder Murdoch’s efforts to assign control of the family’s shares to Lachlan, who currently oversees both corporations.

Re #1. Lachlan is a far leftist. Why would his control of Fox be good? I think this is VERY bad. But, I have abondoned Fox, not watching their nightly news since 2015. Unmitigated disaster, IMO. Now the conversion of Fox to MSNBC-lite.

The downhill slide is turning into a freefall. Fox has some good people and I wish them a speedy recovery from this sickness.

#1, Lauchlan is the most conservative of the Murdoch family. The agreement give him control of bot Fox and News Corp and prevents the other 3 children from buying shares of either company. Must have cost a ton of money but is the very best outcome conservatives could hope for.

I read in more than one place he's a leftist lunatic. I must've missed the part where he is considered conservative.

#2: Agree reagarding the direction of Fox in recent years. I gave up on News Corp and Fox News after the 2020 election. The firing of Tucker Carlson (no matter what anybody thinks of him now) just after the out-of-court settlement with DVS enabled the old codger to escape the witness stand also smelled of ugly "side agreement" that didn't appear in the court filings. What amazes me now is that people like Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, who established their brand names before Fox News, are now being tarnished by association with Fox and yet remain there. They would do well to consider leaving Fox before the public devalues their brands to such an extent that it hits their wallets.

The Wall Street Journal used to be stodgy but dependable. When the Murdoch family bought the paper I feares they'd trash it. That's exactly what they ended up doing.

TV news does not have to be an addiction. I watch people I enjoy on Fox and Fox Business. Recording some programs allows mute and fast forward to be my best friends.
According to the article Lahlan's sister Elizabeth is a liberal. Lachlan was believed to be more onservative. So we are talking comparatives within the children rather than absolutes.
I am not sure what other LDotters see on Fox that disturbs them as they are not specific in their complaints.

"In 2018, Lachlan described his political views as "conservative economically and more liberal on social policy," although this liberalism has been called performative given the anti-queer views regularly platformed by Fox Corp."

Rupert believes that Lachlan is - of the children - most apt to keep Fox onservative,

There are critics of Lachlan, from the right that he's not conservative enough.
But sources consistently say he is the most conservative of the kids, and that for conservatives this is the optimal out come.
From this article: This outcome, with Lachlan in charge, would appear to cement Rupert Murdoch’s desire to maintain the conservative leanings of his media empire, particularly at Fox News, which has become the economic linchpin of Fox Corp. James Murdoch and Elisabeth Murdoch have been known to hold different political views than Lachlan, with James notably contributing to causes that are not in keeping with the opinions espoused on the cable network.
From an outside article, typical of what I've seen, Lachlan has long been viewed as the most conservative of his siblings....
and
Lachlan's ascension is a triumph of the status quo.
Although Lachlan is unlikely to run News Corp. exactly the way his father did, he is the most similar to Rupert, which means that the company is going to change the least with him at the helm.
His political views might not be totally in line with his father's, and he's rarely discussed them in public, but the general consensus seems to be that Lachlan is the most interested in preserving what his father's brands have become.
