Political analyst Matthew Dowd has been fired from MSNBC after his comments about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to a network source.
During MSNBC’s coverage of Kirk’s shooting, anchor Katy Tur asked Dowd about “the environment in which a shooting like this happens.” Dowd responded with the following about Kirk: “He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think

My husbands response when I read him the headline-don’t tease me like that. Then we both shouted for joy.

So MSNBC fired him, even though they invited him on and knew the gist of what he was going to say.

Let this be the first of many. We cannot tolerate this kind of inhuman evil day after day, driving the violence we have now.

You can be sure the dem PR folks are telling their stupid clients to shut up and stop rejoicing over the murder of a Republican up-and-coming young hero. The dem fools in the House of Representatives who shouted over Speaker Johnson when he tried to pray for Kirk, his family, and our country at the podium will regret their stupid impulsive behavior after the November, 2026 election returns are counted.

I expect Dowd will cough up some sort of apology-sounding tripe and get what passes for forgiveness. He should probably find another line of work for the time being. Just in case there are some long memories hanging around close.

Matthew Dowd was just projecting what the DemoRoids have been doing for eons onto the Republicans.
As far as I'm concerned, the assassination was both a watershed moment, and the moment the DemoRoids jumped the shark.
From now on, anytime the DemoRoids even THINK about demeaning Republicans using hate speech, they need to be immediately and forcefully called to task.
Firing Matthew Dowd was a good first step.
And he's only sorry his sorry a$$ got fired.

The administration should yank the licenses of ABC, NBC, and CBS. They've been hating on Republicans for decades. RIP, Charlie.

People with TDS are now resorting to killing people? It’s absolutely chilling that they can’t debate with words so resort to murder. For all their talk about gun control, they sure know how to get them and use them.

Purely a "cut our losses" move...They'll hire a Dowd Clone to replace him or worse! MSNBC should lose their license ASAP!

If you take Dowd's statement and replace all of the references to Charlie Kirk with "Democrats", then his statement would be correct. What he said embodies everything Democrats say and do.

The real shame is that Dowd will retire wealthy. I don't doubt that he has plenty to tide him over. I don't know what is salary was, but I am sure it's one that ordinary citizens can only dream of.

What's missing? There's NO mention of "hate" anywhere in either Dowd's apology or in MSNBC's. Inappropriate? Insensitive? Unacceptable? They're all there, but...hate? Nah. That word is apparently reserved ONLY to describe conservatives, Christians, Republicans and actually was part of Dowd's description of Kirk. So the takeaway from Variety is that Dowd said something inflammatory that got him fired---but it wasn't HATEFUL or the media would've told us. Right?

They can all save their apologies. This is the caliber of people MSNBC hires. This is who they are. Firing one will not make a ripple.

That path of hate leading up to murder that Dowd projected on to Charle Kirk and all conservatives actually describes the left. It was on full display in the House of Representatives when the Democrats response to the Speaker’s request for a moment of silence for Kirk resulted in a Democrat shouting match. So far all the murders and attempted have been leftist against conservatives.

#26. Why take out Charlie Kirk? First, he was a very soft target. 2nd, He was young, charismatic, popular, and was galvanizing America's conservative youth. 3rd. He was only a few years away from being eligible to run for President of these United States of America, and I believe he would have been a credible candidate.
He would have been a great VP for President Vance, which would have given him wisdom and experience in Washington, DC, and him succeeding President Vance could conceivably give Republicans an uninterrupted 20 years of the Presidency. Think of how much DemoRoid damage and destruction that could be undone in those 20 years, especially if each president was as energetic and productive as PDJT 2.0 is now.
