WARNING - President Trump's latest crackdown on prescription drug advertisements may cause Big Pharma executives to experience insomnia, tension headaches, a feeling of loss of control, and an upset stomach.
Trump signed an executive memorandum on Tuesday, directing the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to enhance transparency in direct-to-consumer prescription drug advertising. It calls for mandating more detailed disclosures of side effects.
This initiative, spearheaded by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., will address violations in drug ads without imposing an outright ban on those ads.

The warning in the Jardiance turtle ad says that one could possibly lose one's lower extremities (e.g., legs) when taking this stuff. Nice. Would make all that dancing with Type 2 diabetes more difficult, wouldn't it? Pharma ads are almost as irritating as lawyer ads. If they all disappeared, who would complain? The less television, the better.

High prices for drugs are the result of the cost of advertising for big Pharma. The only two countries that allow advertising are the United States and New Zealand.

Just stop them completely. It already takes half of the commercial to list the side effects.
Big pharma spends twice the amount on advertising as they do on R&D.

They should ban all those drug advertisements, as 15 minutes after watching them most people cannot remember all the supposed medical and very technical facts that were annunciated in the advertisement. Let the Doctors advise their patients what drugs should be prescribed to them.

Allowing advertising for products that the consumer cannot buy without a physician’s prescription never made sense. I’m sure more than one doctor prescribed a drug to get the patient to get off their back or Big Pharma wouldn’t advertise. The whole Pharma/doctor/advertising complex always appeared to be one big conflict of interest.

You mean I might be able to watch a show with my grandkids without hearing about erectile disfunction and homosexual medications and suicidal feelings?!

I hate those things. Why are they advertising them to people who cant buy them? Advertise to doctors, who have to prescribe them. Plus, they are so woke. We have fat people singing and dancing about their pills. We have endless mixed race couples and gays, neither of which I want to see and dont like my grandkids seeing. Seems like a lot of wasted money.

Those stupid drug ads are why I record most shows and then ff past the ads!! Those irritate me as much as lawyers ads and those 5 minute long "cancer kids" and "abandoned animals" ads!! ALL of them get fast forwarded by me!!

#8 is correct. Doctors are the only ones who should know about which drugs to prescribe. Patients can't legally buy this stuff directly. Can you imagine going to your primary care physician, all hot about some idiotic drug ad you'd seen on teevee, and saying, "This is for me!" "No. You don't need that." "But, doc, they were dancing and singing!" "Where did you go to medical school?" "I want to dance and sing about Type 2!" "Maybe you need another kind of doctor."

A couple of my doctors hate it when patients see these commercials and are self diagnosing. Just like the companies want.

TV and print drug advertising should be treated like cigarette advertising and banned outright.

Don’t stop with pharma, ban voiceover disclaimers at the close of ads played at 2 to 3 times the normal speaking rate.

TV is overloaded with these ads and the accompanying "ask your doctor" tagged on at the end. This does not belong on television
I could also live the rest of my life without that obnoxious Super Beets woman and her "you're gonna love it"...

I, to, despise these commercials. The dancing, running through streets, happy faces. Disgusting. The commercials are loaded with nothing but garbage. Can you imagine going to a doctor and telling him/her they want some of that med because the commercials advertise a cure for their rear end problems? I'd be pleasantly surprised if removed forever. Diet pills for really overweight people. Sorry I go on and on. I'm with ya'll 100 percent.

Once upon a time we did not have lawyers, accountants or pharmaceutical companies advertising. We need to get back to that. Sorry Morgan and Morgan and Pfizer, et al.

Other posters are correct. #19 especially. We banned those and can ban drug co. ads also. The other blatant disinformation is dressing the ads with actors wearing scrubs and implying that they are MDs that just left a patient's bedside. Another outright and disgusting practice is to show the side effects and warnings that only an eagle or hawk could read. It's deliberate and immoral to do this. I say ban them all and boycott the companies that engage in this deliberate and dishonest attempt to fool the viewers.
