Assisted dying, legalized in 2016, now accounts for about one out of 20 deaths in Canada, far surpassing countries where it's been legal for longer. As assisted deaths have become a major part of Canada's health care system, the Quebec College of Physicians suggested legalizing euthanasia for infants born severely ill.

A 21-year-old American tourist suffered serious injuries at the hands of two Syrian migrants in Dresden, and his impassioned video about the attack and Germany’s spiraling migrant crisis has gone viral. Now, the story, which was published in both German and American media, has prompted a rebuke from Richard Grenell, presidential envoy for special missions of the United States under the Trump administration. I’m not a lawyer, but I‘ve never quite understood how burning the American flag is a “free speech” issue. The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party has nullified the results of the Minneapolis DFL’s July 19 endorsement convention after the party’s Constitution, Bylaws and Rules Committee (CBRC) found “substantial failures” in the convention’s voting process. It means, among other things, the state party has revoked the local party’s endorsement of mayoral candidate Omar Fateh, a member of the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA). The convention’s voting delegates had five candidates to choose from, including incumbent mayor Jacob Frey, who came in second. Frey was mayor in 2020 during the immensely destructive George Floyd riots.

President Trump went on a late-night attack against NBC and ABC News on Sunday, deriding them for what, in his view, was "biased" coverage and said he would be in favor of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revoking their licenses. The Republican president said the news outlets had given him negative coverage on "97%" of stories. It wasn’t clear from where Trump was citing the "97%" figure.
