Cartel boss ‘El Mayo’ to plead guilty.
Will he spill secrets about corruption

BROOKLYN — For more than four decades, Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada ruled from the shadows. While other top Mexican drug traffickers were killed or extradited to the United States to face justice, Zambada remained comfortably ensconced atop his empire, exporting tons of cocaine, meth, heroin and fentanyl around the globe from his stronghold in the Pacific state of Sinaloa. Long after the downfall of his Sinaloa cartel partner, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, Zambada continued to operate with impunity, always a step ahead of the law — until eventually it caught up to him, too. Now the question is whether he’ll take others down with him.

The Mexican politicians are in bed with the cartels. It's a shockingly corrupt country. If I never go to Mexico again, that will be too soon.

What’s he going to tell us that we don’t already know? If I were Trump, all I’d want to know is where the cartel leaders live, and where their processing labs are, so we can send drones with Hellfire missiles to destroy them.

Secrets? Mexico has been corrupt and run by drug kingpins for at least sixty years. The police are with the cartels and there are more government officials on the take than prostitutes in Tijuana.

"Give us the names of the politicians on your payroll and we will allow you to keep the family jewels a while longer." I can not imagine that the FBI would not milk this guy for every piece of information that he has. Police, government officials, even Sheinbaum herself would have to be rewarded to turn a blind eye to an operation of this magnitude. Not only direct murders but all of the American citizens killed by his drugs over a forty year period has to number in the tens of thousands. Calls for non-violence at this point will go unheeded in Mexico. His capture and the shutdown of his cartel affects the incomes of many people. The economy of Mexico is propped up, perhaps dependent upon, survival from their drug trade. There exists the necessity that he was aided by people on this side of the border as well. But never fear, other Mexican cartels will pick up his piece of the business as soon as he is sent to prison. There will always be a market.

Why do I think of the scene from Goodfellas where Paulie Ciscero, Henry Hill, etc. are in "prison" cooking steak and lobster for dinner when I read about these Mexican cartel bosses in US federal custody?

The Air Force veteran who was gunned down in cold blood on January 6, unarmed, wearing a Trump flag as her cape, has had her military honors restored. After years of being denied the recognition she earned through her service under the Biden regime, part one of “Justice For Ashli Babbitt” has begun with this long-overdue vindication. Under Biden, Babbit was basically stripped of the honors she’d earneUnser d, a cold-hearted move that went way beyond politics. When you’re denied military honors, it means you don’t get the recognition you earned. No folded flag. No salute. No respect from the country you gave years of your life to.

The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party has nullified the results of the Minneapolis DFL’s July 19 endorsement convention after the party’s Constitution, Bylaws and Rules Committee (CBRC) found “substantial failures” in the convention’s voting process. It means, among other things, the state party has revoked the local party’s endorsement of mayoral candidate Omar Fateh, a member of the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA). The convention’s voting delegates had five candidates to choose from, including incumbent mayor Jacob Frey, who came in second. Frey was mayor in 2020 during the immensely destructive George Floyd riots.

LOS ANGELES — Lyle Menendez was denied parole Friday, a day after his younger brother Erik received the same recommendation by a California state board. Their separate hearings this week come nearly 30 years after the brothers were convicted of first-degree murder for the 1989 killings of their parents. They were sentenced to life in prison without parole in 1996. But after a Los Angeles judge reduced their sentences to 50 years to life in May, they immediately became eligible for parole under California law because they were under age 26 when they committed their crimes.
