Attorney General Pam Bondi is seeking to dismiss a $100 million lawsuit filed by the Proud Boys over the political persecution they suffered in the wake of the January 6th protests.
In a court submission on Monday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed, stating that “the malicious prosecution claim lacks merit; and the United States is not liable for punitive damages.”
The filing undercuts the argument long supported by the Trump administration that those who were imprisoned following the January 6th attacks were the victims of political persecution.

A glance at her list reveals a more telling story: most of the items are pencils, pens, paper, and lunchboxes. Essentials. After the FBI raided John Bolton’s house on Friday, legal expert Jonathan Turley noted that the allegations against Bolton could potentially result in years of prison if they are true.
The Donald Trump-Kash Patel FBI reportedly raided Bolton’s home and office in search of classified documents. As my colleague Kevin Downey Jr. reported, Trump and co. have yet to confirm the report officially, but Patel and his deputy co-director Dan Bongino hinted on X that it was true and the raid was part of enforcing the law.
