Expect Putin to pay big-time for trolling Trump

We expect Russia’s Vladimir Putin and his top minions to soon regret their decision to make a fool of President Donald Trump. At their Alaska summit, Putin gave Trump renewed hope for a peace deal on the Ukraine war — but that’s now looking like Lucy setting up Charlie Brown for another football humiliation. After initially signaling openness to a meet, Sergey Lavrov, Putin’s foreign secretary, just dumped yet more cold water on any chance for a Putin sitdown with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky. Bloviating on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Lavrov announced, “There is no meeting planned,” and none will happen without advance agreement that fits Putin’s “presidential agenda.”

I am done with the Post. It is near impossible to actually read one of their articles with the adds blocking out every thing. You get half way through a paragraph and wham the whole page is blocked by an add. Then you can’t get rid of the add and if you do then another one pops right up. See you later I am done with it.

Same old, Same Old. Russian, Soviet, whatever. In the days of the Soviet Union, the Soviets would negotiate a deal with the US. When it came to sign the treaty, the Soviets would add at least one more demand, hoping the US would cave in favor of having a treaty. That worked too many times. Now, it looks like Putin is cut from the same cloth as the Soviet leadership. I think it's time for President Trump to pull out a pair of virtual scissors and cut Putin's cloth into such tiny pieces there is no chance to sew them back together. I'm waiting with bated breath to see what PDJT 2.0 does. I'm sure it will be a doozy!

Why does the NY Post think Putin played Trump? More likely Trump thinks the meeting went exactly the way he thought it would. Trump played the role of gracious host, said some nice words, and that was it. The world saw first hand that Putin isn't serious about peace. Putin thinks Russia can keep everything it took by force. Trump will make sure the penalties far outweigh any benefit, but Russia will likely keep those lands regardless.

Russia only has one commodity to sell: oil. Their production methods are inefficient and costly. If Trump can embargo their oil, and place punitive tariffs on all the countries that buy it, the Russian economy will grind to a halt - and, along with it, the Russian war machine. Russia is essentially a third-world country; as someone put it long ago, it’s “Malaysia with missiles.” It shouldn’t be too hard to deal with.

Videos of the nation’s capital being swept clean of homeless encampments in just one week may have Californians adding Washington, DC, to the unofficial list of top-10 U-Haul destinations. In Los Angeles, the problem of tent encampments has persisted for almost 20 years. They began to pop up after city officials settled an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit in 2007 by agreeing to stop enforcing a ban on sitting, lying or sleeping on the sidewalk. More lawsuits, settlements and court rulings led to the entire city and much of the state becoming the site of homeless encampments on sidewalks, streets, freeway embankments, overpasses, underpasses, median strips, parks, parking lots, public plazas, beaches,

President Trump went on a late-night attack against NBC and ABC News on Sunday, deriding them for what, in his view, was "biased" coverage and said he would be in favor of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revoking their licenses. The Republican president said the news outlets had given him negative coverage on "97%" of stories. It wasn’t clear from where Trump was citing the "97%" figure. A study released earlier this year by the conservative media watchdog group, Media Research Center (MRC), found that coverage of the president’s first 100 days in office was "92% negative."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli forces could start withdrawing from territory they hold in southern Lebanon after the Lebanese cabinet’s “momentous decision” earlier this month to work towards the disarmament of the militant group Hezbollah by the end of 2025. Netanyahu said Monday that if Lebanon takes the necessary steps to disarm Hezbollah, then Israel will respond with reciprocal measures, including a phased reduction of the Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon. Since the Israel-Hezbollah war ended in November 2024 with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire,

Two news items from last week point to where US immigration enforcement is headed: 1) the number of foreign-born people in the country fell by 1.5 million in the first six months of 2025, and 2) ICE is on track to deport just 400,000 illegal immigrants for the whole year. The obvious conclusion: A lot more illegal migrants are self-deporting than being expelled — which is surely how most Americans want things to proceed, and a lot more practical than any kind of mass round-ups. The Trump administration is increasing deportations:

The Democrat Party is hemorrhaging support with no end in sight, according to a shocking analysis of new voter registrations. Fueled by President Donald Trump’s gains among men, younger voters, and Latinos in 2024, more new voters nationwide chose to be Republicans than Democrats for the first time since 2018, according to a report from the New York Times which relies on voter registration data compiled by L2, a nonpartisan data firm. Perhaps more troubling for Democrats, the data suggests Democrat Party activists can no longer rely on the party’s tried-and-true methods to reverse the trend, leaving panicked party leaders and pundits unsure how to resurrect the party’s electoral prospects.
