A common trope trotted out in defense of the modern GOP is that, for all its shortcomings, electing Republicans to positions of power is better than electing Democrats. If that argument is true, then why are the institutions in so many so-called “red states” just as left-wing as their blue state counterparts?
A new report authored by the State Leadership Initiative (SLI) and obtained by The Federalist reveals how many Republican-run states “remain deeply entangled in the same bureaucratic bloat, cultural drift, and economic stagnation” that are features of those run by Democrats. While red and blue states often differ on major political issues (ex. gun rights and tax policy),

Sure, Texas and Florida are about the same as California and New York - governance-wise - if you buy in to the gist of the article. Ideological shifts among politicians aren't mentioned in the article. Donald Trump left the GOP in 1987 to join New York's Independence Party, presumably to run for office under the larger Reform Party umbrella, which includes the New York Independence Party, as its nominee for the presidency. In 2001, Trump changed his party affiliation to democrat for 8 years, then rejoined the GOP for a few years, before switching to "no party affiliation" in 2011. In 2012, he had the political instinct or pragmatism to once again, become a Republican, and proceeded to run for office as a Republican. It got him elected twice, (if not three times, counting 2020) and he's been the unquestionable driver of the Republican party policy agenda since winning the presidency in '24. Is the increasing anti-Republican sentiment and articles on this site intended to break off MAGA from the GOP to stand alone as a third party, with Vance as the nominee running against the Uniparty, having used the GOP as a steppingstone to the Senate and VP? Aside from ignoring the political volatility of politicians, Mr. Fleetwood's article doesn't question the political volatility and/or complacency of the Red State voters. More importantly, the author does not even begin to treat the increasingly progressive judiciary's influence and its cross-party leveling effect on Red State institutions. Things like environmental regulatory restrictions, voting rights, 'prison reform,' police department consent decrees, college admissions, weaponized Title IX enforcement, and faculty hiring decisions have largely been driven to the left by federal court judges. Social justice edging out criminal justice in states has also played a role in expanding a left-leaning bureaucracy but the SLI "measures" mentioned in the article only capture the elements of the Red State = Blue State narrative. Still, it is clear that much work is needed to make America great again and Trump chose jumpstart the process as a Republican.

What a silly argument. "Institutions" exist independent of politics. The common factor is money.

Ghosts of passed democrat rule and collegiate indoctrination. It started in the cold war and is in full bloom now. Thank you, President Trump, for all your efforts.

the vast sea of rinos like abbott, misslindsey, el turtle, kemp, are bugs--globalist sponsored bugs-
who take pennies on the dollar.
dims come from generations of crook-ery... gangster pelosi, the imported communist psychopaths.
