Russia launched one of its biggest missile attacks of the year on Ukraine overnight, killing at least one and injuring more than a dozen — with the deadly onslaught striking a US electronics manufacturer and sending Poland scrambling warplanes to protect its airspace.
The barrage of 574 drones and 40 ballistic and cruise missiles mostly targeted western regions of Ukraine,(snip)— just as the diplomatic push to stop the three-year war was trying to gain momentum.
The strikes — the third-largest aerial attack this year alone — zeroed in on regions where much of the military aid provided by Ukraine’s Western allies is believed to be delivered and stored,

Z and P are both bad actors. We should never have been involved.

If you are going to end the war without a clear overwhelming victory, you either consolidate what you've won, or attempt to capture more. Clearly, Russia plans to negotiate from a position of strength. This is how warfare has been waged since the beginning of time. Only the methods have changed.
I expect that Ukraine will attempt to make gains before a ceasefire is declared.

Russia has overwhelming military strength, even if it’s poorly led. I’d prefer both sides withdraw to Ukraine’s original borders but neither Putin nor Zelenskyy are acting in good faith.
What will probably happen is Russia bleeds Ukraine dry, occupies the territory it wants then declares a ceasefire.
PDJT 2.0 can enforce drastic tariffs on Russia as well the countries that do business with Russia. That might change the outcome.

Russia kills civilians and blows up coffee machine factories while Ukraine goes after ammo dumps, military aircraft and refineries.
Russia is just evil, and has been since the days of the Czar. Not all Russians, some of them are OK people on a day to day basis, but they have really bizarre beliefs if you really get to talking to them Huge lovers of a strong leader....like a czar or a dictator, never got out of the serf-lord mentality fully.

I'm amazed at how many have bought into the Russian disinformation and cannot ever let go of it, realize that they were played.

Yeah, we get it, #7. You post the same comment every time there is an article about this ridiculous war.
#5, I agree with you.

#6 has been here a long time, and it's simply the case that conservatives of good faith sometimes diverge on what they think is happening and what we need to do about it. In this case, I don't agree with #6's threat assessment, but Putin is a bad actor and a potential threat to us, as Russian dictators often are.
The fact that not every aggressive dictator is Adolf Hitler means we can manage different dictators differently. I hope I'm right that Putin falls into the manageable dictator category. However I've been wrong before, and #6 may very well be right about this.

Hey, Vladimir, that was not a good move. You will have Mr. Trump's serious disapproval.

I hope Joe "where am I?" Biden, Hillary "Reset" Clinton, and John "I need a USB port for my moustache" Bolton are all feeling better, now that they've collectively awoken the Russian Bear.
They're good reasons for the U.S. State Department to be pared down to a Staff of 12, all reporting to the Sec. of State, and that's it; then automate everything else.

This is interesting...Russia goes after American stores to give President Trump a message...I'll negotiate when I've taken all I want...and nothing you can do about it...NOW...in several months the sanctions will hurt...but for now...Putin's not backing off....he's on a drive for as much land as he wants...and no one can stop him....President Trump's snake story is very relevant now...Putin is biting US after WE were civil to him.....he's the devil's tool....

Russia wants moral leadership of the world. Weird ting is, do you know what they have against the Catholic Church? The Fourth Crusaide, which entered Constantinople to correct errors and defend its allies, and then robbed, committed violence, and forced their own religion on everybody. In other words, exactly what Russia did all over Europe in the 20 century. Russia thinks it is owed forgiveness but it grants none. It is the fourth crusaide, grown monstrous, yet unforgiving. Buy a mirror that works.
