Why AOC could take the White House in
2028 and Kamala Harris won't

Original Article

When former Vice President Kamala Harris announced that she would not be running for California governor, she appeared to leave the door open to another shot at the White House in 2028. However, the real Democratic contender to watch is not Harris. Rather – implausible as it may seem to some – New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appears to be the front-runner for Democrats’ 2028 presidential nomination, should she forgo a Senate campaign, which she would almost certainly win.

Re: #3 - Yes, strange things can happen in politics. 26 years ago, after leaving the GOP, positioning himself for a presidential run as a third-party (New York Independence Party branch of the Reform Party) candidate, Donald Trump, when queried on CNN's Larry King Live regarding a VP running mate, made the following statement: "Oprah, I love Oprah. Oprah would always be my first choice. She would be sort of like me. I have a lot of things going, she's got a lot of things going." After pulling back as the Reform candidate, after actually winning a primary vote, in August 2001, Trump changed his party affiliation to Democrat, where he supported democrats for eight years until he (temporarily) changed his party affiliation back to Republican in 2009. While a democrat in 2004, Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer, "In many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat", explaining: "It just seems that the economy does better under the democrats than the Republicans." In December 2011, during the run-up to Obama being elected president, Trump changed to "no party affiliation (independent). By April 2012, he again returned to the GOP, as his preferred vehicle to be elected president. By contrast, Ronald Reagan, who's family suffered during the Great Depression, became a New Dealer, impressed by FRD's ability to speak to the common man, offering encouragement and comfort, and making complex issues simple and understandable. Post WWII, Reagan increasingly became disillusioned by the liberal policies and soft on communism stance of the Democrat Party. As a democrat he supported candidates Eisenhower (R) and Nixon (R) in the late 50s and in 1960, formally switching to Republican in 1962, a permanent one-way switch, becoming the chief purveyor of conservative ideology, often co-opting the votes of our country's last batch of conservative democrats (Blue Dogs) and winning election as the governor of California twice before winning the presidency in 1980, after he coined the Make America Great Again slogan, later adopted and used by Bill Clinton and Donald Trump.

The Dutch Defense Ministry announced that it would make the first purchase of US weapons for Ukraine under a new NATO mechanism. The scheme is for NATO allies to fund US defense systems and munitions that would then be shipped to Ukraine. Other NATO allies had pledged to join the initiative, but the Netherlands is the first to announce transferring funds. The announcement comes as Russia continues to attack Ukraine. At least three people were reportedly killed in strikes in Ukraine's east on Tuesday.

Despite the best efforts of Russiagate-complicit media to dismiss as “Russian disinformation” the latest revelations in this escalating scandal implicating President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the treasonous “years-long coup” against President Trump, the public is paying attention and wants heads to roll. According to a Rasmussen poll released Monday, nearly two-thirds of voters (65%) are following declassified releases over the past month by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) “very closely” (32%) or “somewhat closely” (33%), repudiating the calculated media silence about the Obama administration’s fake narratives and manipulation of intelligence to frame Trump as a Kremlin stooge to cover up Clinton’s wrongdoing.

A gerrymandered map proposed by the Texas GOP would kick firebrand Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett out of her own district and likely add more House seats to the Lone Star's Republican delegation. Last week, Texas House Republicans introduced a redistricting proposal that could net five new GOP seats. The draft congressional map, which is likely to change before approval by both state legislative chambers, aims to redraw district lines to include more Republican-leaning areas in Democratic strongholds like Dallas and Houston. Crockett, who serves Texas’ 30th Congressional District, which represents a large part of Dallas, has called the redistricting effort "a power grab to silence voters."

The first bill would ban the purchase of “agricultural land” by any foreign individuals or businesses associated with an adversarial country. Chinese interests already own as much as 370,000 acres of farmland, according to one estimate, some of it near U.S. military bases. Fueling the bipartisan concern: fears that proximity to those sensitive installations could make them prone to drone attack or surveillance.

As expected, Texas Democratic legislators have fled the state to deny a quorum for Gov. Greg Abbott's redistricting push. But that dispute soon turned into a virtual free-for-all. Numerous male and female black youths sucker-punched a middle-aged woman. Others continued to kick or body slam the victims. There were many disturbing aspects to the beat-downs. One, the violence broke out along racial and age fault lines. After the initial dispute, groups of black youths swarmed solitary older white bystanders to pound them. Two, the surrounding assembled group of black youths not only failed to intervene to restrain the bullies.
