As expected, Texas Democratic legislators have fled the state to deny a quorum for Gov. Greg Abbott's redistricting push. The members flew to Illinois on Sunday, which qualifies as peak irony given that the blue state is arguably the most gerrymandered in the country. This plan was reportedly hatched with Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL), and the 30 odd Democrats will spend at least a week there. Given what we saw when they did this in 2021, denying a quorum for an election reform vote, there is no doubt a lot of grandstanding, dramatics, and cringe singing on the way.

Find them, arrest them, and fine them to the limit and more. All the Dems have anymore are cheap stunts, lies, and reps who break the law while defending criminals. Go get em, follow thru and lock em up!

The voters should replace them while they're vacationing on the taxpayers' dime. Who paid for their flights to Illinois? Who's paying their per diems? Dems hate spending their own money, so bill them for the costs and fine them 100x the cost ($500/day is not enough) for abusing their positions. Who'll pay their fines? AG Paxton should "push that red button" and arrest them as he's threatened, but their seats should be vacated, and they should never be allowed to hold office again. The American people are sick of these entitled individuals and their shenanigans.

Only a Democrat would leave Texas and go to Illinois.

I seem to remember reading that this could be defined as abandonment, so the governor can declare their seats vacant and appoint replacements.

Reminds me of a song from Monty Python’s Holy Grail about Brave Sir Robin. “When danger showed its scary head, Sir Robin turned his tail and fled.”

This is more craven performative politics that will get them nothing but negative PR. Every State Congress has a majority party. That’s how it works. The idea that they can flee to another State to escape that needs to be stopped in its tracks. Paxton needs to use every legal retaliation available to stop this. He will be doing a service for the rest of the country.

The so called 'Democratic' Party is everything but. Crooked elections are a mainstay in their Socialist/Racist party.

Late-breaking: Gov Abbot has announced he will declare abandonment of duties, and remove from office, any Texas congressmen that are absent (for any reason other than personal emergency) at 3:00 pm today, Monday, under existing Texas law. Under that law, he is then empowered to immediately appoint replacements of his own choosing so that the business of the Texas congress can proceed.
Go, Gov Abbot!

Same old story here. Dimmocrats cannot win on the merits of their arguments so they cheat. Nobody is fooled anymore by their shenanigans.

Of course...they ran to Illinois and Pritsker welcomed them...because he put in place a law last year...I think it was last year....prohibiting any legal arrest of political felonies....so Texas Marshals will have no authority...and besides it makes pritsker look good for a run for president in 2028....as a tough democrat....oh course...our jolly old governor Pritsker doesn't look good in front of the cameras...but he has enough personal wealthy to buy the job....

Every one of them can afford the $500 per day fine, so crack down on the lot of them. A pox on all their houses; scofflaws all of them.

Have ICE arrest all of them, that will prove ICE isn't just arresting Brown people. Oh, Wait, swimming in the Chicago Sewer might change that.

Would this not meet the definition of obstructing an official meeting considering it's also a conspiracy that included the Governor of Illinois?

And up the page you'll see the auricle about Greg Abbott's notifying them that if tjey are not back by 3:00pm today he will petition to have their seats declared vacant. Let's see what Fatso JB has to say about that.

Illinois??? I suppose it makes sense. Illinois is very well established as a refuge for fleeing democrats who are scared of those nasty Republicans who have the nerve to pass laws that Democrats don't like. Does Governor Abbott have a hotline to Scott Walker in Wisconsin? Walker is an experienced politician who knows all about fleeing Democrats.

Why do "Democratic" lawmakers rely so much on denying democratic principles, methods, and rules to force their way when they don't have the votes to win democratically? Frauds and hypocrites.

This has happened many, many times before.
They ALWAYS come back after every media stunt. THIS time might be different if they have “abandonned” their seats and are replaced!

Dock their pay and refuse to pay any travel expenses and then as one of the responders say, throw them in jail for dereliction of duty.
