The Secret Service abruptly halted the security clearance renewal for former Director Kimberly Cheatle. Secret Service Director Sean Curran reversed course and decided against renewing Cheatle’s top-level security clearance after RealClearPolitics brought up Senator Ron Johnson’s opposition to the agency. RealClearPolitics reported: The Secret Service was moving forward with renewing former Director Kimberly Cheatle’s top-level security clearance but reversed course after RealClearPolitics inquired about a key senator’s opposition, according to multiple sources in the Secret Service community.

Why are "we the people" paying for protection for a former employee? When does $36 trillion in debt begin to rein in the spending?

Why do these people even get considered for Top Secret clearance after being let go. Top secret clearance should only be for those officers, at a certain level, who are actively in service.

It is mind boggling to me that a government employee keeps their security clearance when they leave the government. At that point, what is their need to know? When I left the Air Force I didn't keep my security clearance.

A security clearance is also valuable in private industry and costs at least ten thousand dollars. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with competence.

That Cheatle still had a security clearance after her resignation is stunning. That Curran was going to renew it in what seems like a pro forma move is very disappointing. I understand why President Trump appointed him Director, but the real question is whether Mr. Curran has the chops to run the agency as the kick ass manager it needs. If not, get a number two in there right quick, who will do what is desperately needed to rebuild that agency and protect the President.

There is a lot of talk about whether former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper are protected by a statute of limitations in their roles in fabricating the Russia hoax. But, as current CIA director John Ratcliffe pointed out, “The statute of limitations doesn’t start to run until the last act in the furtherance of that conspiracy,” and the two Russia hoaxers just restarted the clock on July 30, when they decided to pen an op-ed in The New York Times filled with even more lies in an apparent cover-up.
Secret Service Nearly Renewed Clearance

The Secret Service, which once had a reputation for steadfast apolitical professionalism, found itself on the cusp of making an utterly mystifying decision before a Republican senator intervened with some pointed questions. Incredibly, officials were about to rubber-stamp the renewal of former Director Kimberly Cheatle’s top-level security clearance: the very same Cheatle whose disastrous leadership enabled the security meltdown that nearly claimed Donald Trump’s life in Butler, Pa. It’s only when RealClearPolitics pressed for comment on Sen. Ron Johnson’s (R-Wis.) opposition that the agency recoiled and changed course.

After confirming just a handful of President Donald Trump's nominees over the weekend, including Washington D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Senate left Washington D.C. for August recess following unprecedented obstruction from Democrats. For the first time in history not a single nominee, including those passed out of committee in bipartisan fashion, received unanimous consent on the floor. "Democrats, lead by Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, are slow walking my Nominees, more than 150 of them. They wanted us to pay, originally, two billion dollars for approvals. The Dems are CRAZED LUNATICS!!!" Trump posted on Truth Social Sunday.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R‑SD) has unveiled a procedural scheme to block President Donald Trump from making any critical appointments during the August recess, effectively aiding the Democrats’ obstructionist agenda. Under the U.S. Constitution, the president can make “recess appointments,” temporary appointments to federal positions, if the Senate is in recess and not conducting business. These appointments don’t require immediate Senate confirmation and can last until the end of the next session of Congress.

DNI chief Tulsi Gabbard’s public pronouncements regarding RussiaGate have drawn much attention, some plaudits, and lots of conspiracy theorizing. Regardless of theories, the biggest hurdle will be to build a legal case around the information now available. The fact that it looks bad doesn’t mean it’s actionable. At best, Brennan, Clapper, and Comey might be tagged for lying to Congress. However… There is another way. And this one begins with the other “Page” in the horror/comedy book that is the 2016 elections.

Shock turns into outrage. Europeans feel they’ve been duped by Donald Trump. But the trade deal merely lays bare the EU’s accelerating loss of power. Anyone familiar with German politics has long known that Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, is no political heavyweight. Her record as Germany’s family and defense minister speaks for itself. She lacks the intellectual and strategic abilities to navigate or reform complex systems. Yes, she was outplayed by Trump during the trade negotiations -- as expected. But this misses the point. What Europeans are loudly lamenting is not just a bad deal, but the expression of their own geopolitical weakness.

While most of the country has erupted in outrage after an angry mob savagely assaulted two white people in downtown Cincinnati over the weekend, one prominent local politician has the exact opposite reaction to the story. As The Gateway Pundit reported, a group of black individuals smacked around a bald white guy at the intersection of West Fourth Street and Elm Street in downtown Cincy and beat him so bad that he could not get up. Then, a white woman got slugged by one of the cowards. Her head slammed down onto the concrete, and she lost consciousness. Blood was seen coming out of her mouth.

For most of my life, the climate industrial complex has been a thorn in the side of the U.S. economy. Over the years, it has wrought numerous laws and regulations that have stifled economic growth, innovation, prosperity, and productivity. All in the name of saving the human species and the planet from the existential crisis called climate change. The blunt reality is that climate alarmist fearmongering has jumped the shark. It is now a subject of ridicule. No one really believes the world is going to end in a few years if we don’t immediately abandon fossil fuels. However, the climate change charade lasted a while and did extensive economic damage.
Did Trump's victory hurt Obama's feelings? 3 replies

Back in 2016, I remember reading an analysis that President Obama's two terms had left the Democrats in bad shape. In other words, he started in 2009 with huge majorities and left town with the GOP in charge of the U.S. Senate and House. It was probably not what Obama planned, but it happened that way. So the question is: What led Obama to allegedly organize a takedown of the Trump presidency? Was he hurt or was his ego crushed? I like this analysis from Martin Gurri: He understood, as a realist, that he had been the cause of which Trump was the effect.

A gerrymandered map proposed by the Texas GOP would kick firebrand Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett out of her own district and likely add more House seats to the Lone Star's Republican delegation. Last week, Texas House Republicans introduced a redistricting proposal that could net five new GOP seats. The draft congressional map, which is likely to change before approval by both state legislative chambers, aims to redraw district lines to include more Republican-leaning areas in Democratic strongholds like Dallas and Houston. Crockett, who serves Texas’ 30th Congressional District, which represents a large part of Dallas, has called the redistricting effort "a power grab to silence voters."

When former Vice President Kamala Harris announced that she would not be running for California governor, she appeared to leave the door open to another shot at the White House in 2028. However, the real Democratic contender to watch is not Harris. Rather – implausible as it may seem to some – New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appears to be the front-runner for Democrats’ 2028 presidential nomination, should she forgo a Senate campaign, which she would almost certainly win.

The voters have spoken,” said Laura LoBianco Sword, chairwoman of the borough’s Democratic Party.

Below is my column in Fox.com on the release of the last declassified material on the origins of the Russian collusion investigation. After the release, former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper wrote in the New York Times insisted that they never relied on the Steele dossier. The column only reaffirmed the level of dishonesty and duplicity that marked their tenures in office. (The Times still printed this claim despite being demonstrably untrue). As expected, Texas Democratic legislators have fled the state to deny a quorum for Gov. Greg Abbott's redistricting push. The members flew to Illinois on Sunday, which qualifies as peak irony given that the blue state is arguably the most gerrymandered in the country. This plan was reportedly hatched with Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL), and the 30 odd Democrats will spend at least a week there. Given what we saw when they did this in 2021, denying a quorum for an election reform vote, there is no doubt a lot of grandstanding, dramatics, and cringe singing on the way.

Recently, a large group of black youths began pummeling white adults in downtown Cincinnati. The original altercation apparently broke out between a black and white male in he-said/he-said fashion. But that dispute soon turned into a virtual free-for-all. Numerous male and female black youths sucker-punched a middle-aged woman. Others continued to kick or body slam the victims. There were many disturbing aspects to the beat-downs. One, the violence broke out along racial and age fault lines. After the initial dispute, groups of black youths swarmed solitary older white bystanders to pound them. Two, the surrounding assembled group of black youths not only failed to intervene to restrain the bullies.

It’s clear the Administration is taking its time to reveal the investigation’s conclusions for maximum impact -- an impact that I, like Scott Adams, believe will result in arrests of a number of people who pulled off this fraud. But first I want to discuss something which has not received the kind of attention it deserves -- the death of the legal consequences for disparate outcomes and credentialism.
