Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R‑SD) has unveiled a procedural scheme to block President Donald Trump from making any critical appointments during the August recess, effectively aiding the Democrats’ obstructionist agenda.
Under the U.S. Constitution, the president can make “recess appointments,” temporary appointments to federal positions, if the Senate is in recess and not conducting business. These appointments don’t require immediate Senate confirmation and can last until the end of the next session of Congress.

Why would Thune do this? The Democrats don't treat their presidents this way. This is special for being a GOP

Why would Thune do this, you ask? Because it's not the Dems vs. the Repubs, but it's a one-party government! The Dems are the murderers, but the Republicant's open the door for them and otherwise aid and abet them in every sneaky way possible.

I believe that hte President of the Senate (Vance) can order the Senate out of session, shutting down Thune's nasty trick and letting Trump do recess appointments by the score.

I don’t know, I think it probably goes back to the old adage, “follow the money” and you will probably find out who he is loyal to, because I don’t think it is the United States.

Bribed, threatened, traitor, idiot. D...all of the above. I find this conclusion nearly inescapable: no one rises to leadership of the Senate or HOR unless they are treacherous crooks. It's part of the job description.

What Thune is doing is seen as stupid by some because there are too many Republican voters who do not take the time to figure out just who they are voting for in the primaries. That is how we end up with a buncha backstabbing Rinos like Thune, McConnell, etc.,... Cornyn didn't even make it through his first term as Senator in Texas before he started his backstabbing BS, but people STILL voted for the slimeball in every primary since! It was always "Cornyn will do better in the general election against the DemoRat because he's moderate enough" or some other such tripe which Republican voters fall for EVERY SINGLE TIME.
The Rinos actually take turns sabotaging the Republican agenda, especially when it concerns Conservative values, so as not to upset the sheeple in the Republican Party, if not Moderates. Also, people think Republicans routinely snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. In actuality, there are way too many Rinos at the federal level who back up the Deep State plan when the DemonRats are out of power. The same problem exists at the state level. China has been infiltrating our country for decades with some success, but it's nothing compared to the invasion of Dems in Rino clothing who have infiltrated the Republican Party.

And how many Senators will attend these fake Senate sessions? My guess is zero. Who is going to be attending them? The Senate won't lose its vacation time. What are they going to do if Trump makes some recess appointments anyway? Wring their hands and holler? A lawsuit to be decided upon by a fake judge? The President should not let this stop him. It's all more of the same nonsense that has been going on since he became President. It shows how little support Trump enjoys from the Washington crowd, both parties. Washington symbolizes everything that is wrong with our country. It is power hungry and corrupt.

I thought procedural tricks were supposed to be used against the opposition, the demonrats, not your own party. At our house, we were hoping Thune wouldn't be the Rino that we thought he was all these years, but skunks don't change their tactics or smell.

Sen. John "Treasonous" Thune was and is a fetch-dog for RINO Mitch "MultiUselessMultiFreeze" McConnell(February 20, 1942 (age 83)). So is Sen. John Anthony Barrasso III.(R-WY). All of them despise DJT even though they put on a happy face. "Treasonous" will play "footsie", under the negotiating table, with Chuck "Satanic" Schumer. Look for more "Republican" Senators to join the fray.

What's to stop the Senate from conducting votes or conducting business during these pro forma sessions? Let the Dems go home then vote on the nominees.

Thune did this by unanimous consent. An explanation should be demanded of every Republican Senator who was present and allowed this to occur without objection.

I’ve read several articles on how all of this went down. The Democrats were making ridiculous demands, like restoring funding to their beloved USAID, and it was Trump’s decision to shut down negotiations and not make recess appointments. Thune did what he asked. Do your homework guys. Especially when your info comes from Gateway Pundit. It’s a political tabloid.

Congress should be redfaced, taking a vacation, then coming back to whine they didn't have time to do the appropriations process, and must pass a continuing resolution. Then, the GOP will not get Trump's team confirmed until May or June 2026, halfway into Trump's term of office. For action, Trump is all we have got.
