During an interview with CBS News on Monday, Tom Fahy, the Legislative Director for the National Weather Service Employees Organization stated that while there were vacant management positions at some offices in Texas, “we had an all-hands-on-deck situation where we had a full compliment, full staff of meteorologists working in those shifts.” And they did get warnings out.
Fahy stated, “[I]t really comes down to, at this particular time, in the San Angelo and San Antonio offices, yes, there were three management vacancies, but we had an all-hands-on-deck situation where we had a full compliment, full staff of meteorologists working in those shifts.

Two young sisters killed during the devastating floods in Central Texas on Friday sent a final text message to their family before they died.
The bodies of the victims, identified as 13-year-old Blair and 11-year-old Brooke Harber of Dallas, were located 15 miles away in Kerrville after the water carried them from a house in Hunt, the Houston Chronicle reported on Sunday. Their aunt, Jennifer Harber, said the children were staying with their grandparents and Brooke sent the text that read, “Saying I love you at 3:30 a.m.,” to their family as the storms intensified.
The girls’ aunt told the Chronicle their hands were “locked together” when they were found.

Remember this moment in 2019 when Democrats were asked to raise their hands if they supported treating border crossing as a civil issue aka decriminalize the border. Nearly ever hand went up. In retrospect, some Democrats are realizing this may have been a big mistake.
Six years later, the party remains haunted by that tableau. It stands both as a vivid demonstration of a leftward policy shift on immigration that many prominent Democratic lawmakers and strategists now say they deeply regret, and as a marker of how sharply the country was moving in the other direction.

President Trump said Monday his administration would send Ukraine additional weapons after his administration imposed a pause on some shipments to Kyiv.
“We’re going to send some more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves. They’re getting hit very hard now,” Trump told reporters during a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Defensive weapons, primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard. So many people are dying in that mess,” he added.
The Pentagon last week confirmed a decision to halt the delivery of some air defense missiles and munitions to Ukraine, citing concerns about U.S. military stockpiles being depleted.

A judge on Monday barred the Trump administration from revoking Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood, partially freezing a provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act just days after President Trump signed it into law.
The temporary restraining order by U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani lasts 14 days and directs the Department of Health and Human Services to "take all steps necessary to ensure that Medicaid funding continues to be disbursed" to Planned Parenthood. The ruling, which came after a lawsuit from Planned Parenthood, doesn't apply to any other health care providers.
The lawsuit takes aim at a portion of Mr. Trump's signature domestic policy bill that would cut off

As RedState previously documented, California Democrats have been throwing tantrums since the immigration sweeps in Los Angeles started, with Gov. Gavin Newsom using the issue to try and elevate his profile ahead of an anticipated 2028 presidential run and Mayor Karen Bass and other Democrats coddling rioters and gaslighting about "peaceful protests."
More recently, Bass announced that she refused to meet with ICE, nor would she work with them, with Fox News reporting at the time that "Bass said the only deal is for ICE to go home, and she gave no indication she would be willing to meet w/ the agency."
ICE told her fine, but they weren't going anywhere,

Bottom line: Competition works in free markets. And that's why the Protection Racket Media tried very hard to kill off their competition through tendentious 'fact checks' and cheerleading for government censorship. Even with their grip on information markets, their narrative labs have to compete -- and that led the New York Times to get a scoop over the weekend.
This revelation from Semafor leads to an interesting "what if," though:
The afternoon before a long holiday weekend isn’t always the best time to drop a major scoop. But the New York Times did not want to wait to publish its story about Zohran Mamdani’s application to Columbia University in 2009

n a development that should send chills down the spine of every American who still believes in the rule of law, Axios has reported a disturbing new reality inside the Democratic Party. According to the article, Democratic members of Congress are facing a tidal wave of pressure from their own base — not to legislate, not to persuade, but to abandon all pretense of civility and embrace outright violence and lawlessness in their battle against Donald Trump and his allies.
Democratic lawmakers are being bombarded with demands to “fight dirty,” to disregard

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a wave of airstrikes shortly before midnight Sunday, targeting Houthi-controlled seaports in Yemen. The Israeli Air Force is using powerful bombs in its strikes dropping 56 munitions, and striking key targets including a central generator compound at the Port of As-Salif and fuel offloading infrastructure at Ras Issa.
Fighter jets struck facilities in Ras Issa, Hudaydah, and As-Salif, following a rare and urgent evacuation warning issued by the IDF in Arabic earlier in the evening.
According to reports from Yemen, explosions were heard in Hudaydah and Ras Issa, suggesting that Israeli warplanes hit key logistical and military assets at those locations. The IDF had warned

The tragic news out of Texas continues to get worse as the death toll from a flash flood has risen to 51, including at least 15 children. Over two dozen girls from a summer camp in the area remain unaccounted for, with the search-and-rescue effort continuing in the night. Sadly, the chances of finding more people alive diminish by the hour, and the situation is likely to become even more heartbreaking over the next few days.
Having younger children myself, I simply can't fathom what the impacted families are going through. My prayers are with them, and I can continue to hope

My first thought when reading about this was, what were these violent activists planning? Why were they wearing body armor and masks?
Here’s what happened: a police officer in Alvarado, Texas, responded to a report about a suspicious individual outside an ICE detention center in the late hours of the Fourth of July, according to authorities. When the officer tried to approach the suspect, an unknown number of assailants started shooting and the officer was struck in the neck.
Luckily, he was treated and released by a local hospital, but the incident is nonetheless disturbing:

A video published by a San Antonio television station shows a Texas National Guard Blackhawk helicopter aircrew delivering seven girls rescued from the Independence Day Guadalupe River flood near Kerrville. The helicopter lands near Ingram High School and seven young girls run for safety.
At least 23 girls were reported missing from Camp Mystic near Hunt, Texas, in Kerr County. It is not clear if the seven girls rescued by the Texas National Guard are from the list of missing girls. The video shows the TNG Blackhawk landing near Ingraham High School. Seven girls quickly exit the aircraft and run to the shelter.
