Zohran Mamdani, the democratic socialist candidate for New York City mayor, has come under fire from critics who label him a "communist" – a charge he dismisses as a distraction. However, the criticisms may not be as unfounded as Mamdani claims. Videos show the NYC mayoral candidate espousing language and theories rooted in communist revolutionary language. (Snip) According to Mamdani, this is a problem. He lamented in the video that housing is "a consumer product, just like clothes or cars" that private businesses sell on the market to make a profit. As a result, Mamdani complains, there is plenty of housing

Comments:

He's espousing shared laundries, kitchens, food co-ops, bathhouses, pharmacies, lecture halls, swimming pools, etc.... Sounds like the Soviet-style apartments from the 1950s.

I lament the fact the people's votes have become a consumer product. Whoever promises the most 'free stuff' buys the votes of the parasite and loafer class. Say hey, Zohranus! If you want to cure the problem of people not having enough wealth...just print tons of new paper money! Be sure to include bushel baskets and a wheelbarrow for when they take their 'cash' to go shopping.

Communal housing units similar to what Mamdani is advocating actually exists, but ironically he will have to travel to Israel to see them in operation. Israel reportedly has 270 kibbutzim.

Without God, there is no wisdom. Without God, it is so very easy for people to be ensnared by any wind of doctrine, no matter how ludicrous. Exhibit # 1: Communism; One hundred and eight years of failure and deaths in the millions, and yet, we get these true believers like this guy, Obama, and the Democrat Party.

I think that’s the plan for Denver and surrounding area. Huge apartments are going up all over, our roads are in total disrepair (require using mass transit) and they continue to try to dismantle our TABOR law which keeps spending down and taxes low.

Just heard the guy who ate rice with his hands on TV dwells in a 3 million dollar apartment. If shared housing is such a good idea, he's not leading the way by enduring that lifestyle himself. In addition he doesn't seem to understand that "the homeless" often suffer from maladies including mental illness and substance addictions. They may need "shared housing" but in a structured institution where they can be treated and their medications monitored. It was the left that decades ago rushed to into "Deinstitutionalization" of mentally ill individuals. The leftes were successful in getting the hospitals closed and the beds taken out of service. But as we can see today, even families that love their struggling family members cannot provide for the care that these individuals require. The mentally ill are on out streets and they live in cities where liberals refuse to lock them up. One other thing to note is that liberals have been telling us forever that we have a "housing shortage." The communist says we have plenty of housing. Just not the right kind, meaning shared housing. (Not for himself, though.)

#6 The same thing is happening in our small town in Michigan. Apartment buildings are springing up everywhere. My husband and I both noticed that they seem to be cheaply made; no steel, all wood. It's probably part of the 15 minute city plans.

WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa — It is big and it is beautiful, President Donald Trump says. But for many Democratic leaders, the tax break and spending cut package passed by Trump’s Republican allies in Congress on Thursday represents the key to the Democratic Party’s resurgence. Even before the final vote, Democratic officials were finalizing ambitious plans for rallies, voter registration drives, attack ads, bus tours and even a multiday vigil, all intended to highlight the most controversial elements of Trump’s “big beautiful” bill: deep cuts to the nation’s safety net that will leave nearly 12 million more people without health coverage

NEW YORK — Zohran Mamdani appeared to easily secure victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary Tuesday, defeating Andrew Cuomo 56 percent to 44 percent after ranked choice voting results were released by the New York City Board of Elections. Mamdani, the 33-year-old democratic socialist assemblymember, was already all but certain to win the primary after preliminary election night results on June 24 showed him with a 7 point lead over Cuomo, the former governor. Tuesday’s returns put him well over the 50 percent threshold needed to win with only a fraction of ballots left to count. “Last Tuesday

One year from now, you will not be able to turn around without receiving notice of America’s semiquincentennial jubilee. The jollity of the occasion will not change the fact that it will be seven years premature. The historical significance assigned to July 4, 1776, the date the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Second Continental Congress, is befuddling. Without victory in the Revolutionary War, which began over a year earlier, any declarations regarding American independence made during the summer of 1776 would have the same significance today as the “declarations of independence” made by the 11 Confederate States in 1860-61.
