SAN DIEGO — Gas prices in California are expected to increase starting July 1 as two state policies go into effect. A 1.6-cent per gallon excise tax increase and stricter low-carbon fuel standards will impact fuel costs across the state. The gas tax will rise from 59 cents to about 61 cents per gallon to keep pace with inflation. Additionally, new low-carbon fuel standards will be implemented, though the exact impact on prices remains uncertain. (Snip) While the precise increase is unknown, estimates range from under 10 cents to 65 cents or more per gallon. Governor Gavin Newsom's office has released

Comments:

They just keep adding more and more cost to a gallon of gas. Greasy Gavin says it's only 8¢ more. LOL.

So inflation is actually a "revenue generator" strategy for California Democrats. Thus they will develop even more of it...until it all collapses.

And they're set to shut down 2 refineries (Phillips 66 and Valero) over the next year. Cali has a special blend of gas to help keep the smog monster at bay. Good luck getting all that "specialness" from other refineries in, for example, Texas or Louisiana. "Refining: California has a number of refineries that process the crude oil into gasoline and other petroleum products. These refineries are designed to produce gasoline that meets California's specific environmental standards (CARB gasoline)." Think gas is expensive now? Californian's ain't seen nothing yet.

If you're Conservative and live in California get out while you can. You never know when kooks like Brylcreem , or Heaven help us Governor Harris, will try to prevent people from moving out, or at least penalize you financially for doing so. Sure, sure, they can get illegals to take a lot of people's places, but that won't curb the lost of funding from Americans who leave.

Re #2, price increases are NOT the same as inflation. This has become a common misconception. Inflation is a 100% central bank/central government phenomenon where money is created faster than the economy needs it and therefore this excess money lowers the value of MONEY. Price increases are a compensation by the market for less valuable currency. Sometimes price increases are just market reactions to shortages of materials, or to LOCAL governments putting insane restrictions on things, or high local taxes. These are NOT inflation. It is very frustrating that somehow "price increases" has been conflated to inflation. They are not the same at all, although there is an association, sometimes.

I'm with #4. You ain't left yet? We got out in 2015 with the Second Wave. We moved to another state and left the California stain on our shoes behind and blended in nicely with our neighbors. How's that $10K property tax working out for you? How's that $8 a gallon gas working out for you? How's that homeless camp at the end of your street working out for you? You been carjacked at the Chevron station yet? Oh no? Wait'll the FERALS come out, looking for "free" stuff to steal from you. Just don't move here, OK? Anyone who voted for NOT recalling Slick should be made to remain and suffer. A lot. And then you turn around and vote to TAX yourself even more. GTFO and stay out of here...

I left California in 1979. Serial killers and gas lines were the order of the day and the state was run by kooks like Jerry Brown and Rose Bird. Bird got chased off the state supreme court by the voters after questioning whether rape was bodily harm. She got the ax along with two other wacko criminal lovers. The place wrecked two of my cars with their damnable smog devices and I kept another registered in another state until we could escape.

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive order for state employees to abandon remote work and return to the office by July 1 won’t be happening anytime soon. The change of heart comes after the state made an agreement with one of the nation’s largest unions, Service Employees International Union Local 1000, which delays Newsom’s order for at least a year. “We’ve reached an agreement with the State that protects our raise, pauses the return to office order, and gives us a path to bargain again in 2026,” SEIU said in a statement. “Earlier this year, Governor Newsom and the State Legislature

NEW YORK — Zohran Mamdani appeared to easily secure victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary Tuesday, defeating Andrew Cuomo 56 percent to 44 percent after ranked choice voting results were released by the New York City Board of Elections. Mamdani, the 33-year-old democratic socialist assemblymember, was already all but certain to win the primary after preliminary election night results on June 24 showed him with a 7 point lead over Cuomo, the former governor. Tuesday’s returns put him well over the 50 percent threshold needed to win with only a fraction of ballots left to count. “Last Tuesday

MADISON, Wis. — The liberal-controlled Wisconsin Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to hear challenges brought by Democrats seeking to throw out the battleground state’s current congressional district boundaries before the 2026 midterms. The decisions, made without explanation from the court, is a setback for Democrats who had hoped for new, friendlier district boundary lines in Wisconsin as they attempt to win back control of the House next year. Democrats asked the court to redraw the maps, which would have put two of the state’s six congressional seats currently held by Republicans into play. It was the second time in as

Let me bring you up to speed. As recently as 2018, Jaguar sold 180,833 cars annually. Last year, they sold fewer than 33,000. In April — the most current sales figures available — Jag sold just 49 cars in the massive UK/Europe market. U.S. sales figures aren't available yet, but they aren't any better. Jaguar went from selling 1,961 cars a month to 49 in just six years.
