One of Illinois’ more interesting laws to go on the books in recent years takes effect Tuesday. The law banning single-use plastic bottles in the state’s hotels, Senate Bill 2960, is one of the new laws and tax changes set to go into effect in Illinois on July 1. So, does this mean you’ll never find one of those little plastic shampoo bottles in an Illinois hotel ever again? Well, not just yet. The Small Plastic Bottle Act, signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in August 2025, stipulates that Illinois hotels with 50 rooms or more cannot provide single-use plastic bottles

I guess Illinois has solved all their other problems so they had time to spend passing this bill.
Illinois seems to be the California of the Midwest!

My guess. Better hotels will put dispensers in the showers. For the rest, bring your own. Or perhaps packets like single serve ketchup.
Regardless, I'm not getting my skivies in a twist over this.

Since that's the size mandated by airlines, all the guests will just bring their own, dump the empties at the hotels, and the net reduction in plastic will be zero.

An amendment to the bill makes it a felony to sip shampoo through plastic straws.

California and New York did this a coiple years ago. Most chains have come out with bulk pacjages in the shower but have kept the little bars of soap. Had to spend money on brackets and installation, bottles are supposed to be one way valve, locked on the bracket, and tamper resistant

Estimate that the world population includes some very weird, hostile people=100%
Possibility that I would use those dispensers in hotels where anything nasty could be in them=zero.

Peoria sure has its priorities straight. We have to rid ourselves of plastic waste, lest we look like this homeless encampment in peopria https://duckduckgo.com/?q=images+of+home%3Bess+encampments+in+illinois&t=ipad&ia=images&iax=images&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pjstar.com%2Fgcdn%2Fauthoring%2Fauthoring-images%2F2023%2F07%2F25%2FNJOS%2F70465892007-072023-homelesscamps-03.jpg%3Fwidth%3D980%26height%3D648%26fit%3Dcrop%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp

Hyatt Hotels. Owned by the Pritzker family. How much did the phat boy genius save the company with this? I was with the company that built the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa (now a Hilton) years ago on the Big Island. The Pritzkers were a colossal pain. Some things never change.

Pack your own personal care products. It's not that difficult. Lord, what is wrong with people, Just for your edification, this bill will not save the world or drop the earth's temperature or prevent category 5 hurricanes.

Good to know that every other problem affecting Illinois has been solved so that the assorted Gladys Cravitz's and busybody Karen's on the left can get their jollies micromanaging hotel bathrooms!!
I'm glad every day that I escaped that combination loony bin and overflowing latrine back in 1987!!!

Anyone visiting Illinois needs to save up all their small, shampoo bottles and leave them in the state's hotel and motel rooms. I mean we'd hate for them to run out.

The Small Plastic Bottle Act, signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in August 2025 ??
They need to check the date on his auto-pen.
That said, do the Small Plastic Bottle police have to knock before they enter your bathroom?

Considering most large chain hotels have already switched to to the in the shower dispensers for shampoo etc, the market had already solved this supposed "problem." Legislation of this kind is dictatorial and wasteful... just up Tub o' lard pervert Pritzker's alley.

The goal of the left is control.... control of every little thing in your life, down to the little bottle of shampoo. The left never gives up on controlling your life. How I resent being told what light bulbs to use, what shopping bag to use, dishwashers that don't clean, washing machines that don't clean..... and the list goes on and on.
Unfortunately for me, I have a reservation in a Chicago area hotel this summer. Governor Fat Boy can go stuff himself.

That the state government wasted time on something this petty.... and why should small bottles of shampoo be illegal anyway? Fools and busybodies!
I recall my WWII-USMC-Staff-Sergeant Dad's definition of Totalitarianism:
"Everything that is not Compulsory..... is Prohibited."
By the way.... if the hotel cannot 'provide' small plastic bottles of shampoo in the rooms, can they SELL them in the lobby?
Can a store across the street sell them?

Thank the Lord! Those small bottles were the biggest travesty in the States. Now, maybe they can face the issue of rampant crime.
