California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) threatened Friday that his state would stop tax payments to the federal government, after news reports suggested President Donald Trump was thinking of cutting funds to the state. As Breitbart News noted earlier in the day, reports emerged suggesting that the Trump White House was considering cutting federal funding to California due to its challenges to, and defiance of, federal policy. Breitbart News reported: President Donald Trump is reportedly considering ways to pull more federal funding from the State of California, as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) continues to defy White House policies, despite needing money.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man whose erroneous deportation to El Salvador became a protracted battle over due process and a test of wills, has been returned to the United States to face human smuggling charges in Tennessee. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday in a news conference that he had landed in the U.S. “to face justice.” Abrego Garcia has been named in an indictment charging him with transporting within the U.S. people not legally in the country. The two-count indictment, sealed by a Tennessee court last month, alleges that Abrego Garcia participated in a conspiracy over nine years to move people from Texas deeper into the country.

Friedman says a planned major conference, with more than 1,000 attendees expected, has now been canceled due to overwhelming threats of jihadist violence. This comes against the backdrop of a string of recent violent attacks by pro-Hamas radicals inside the United States -- from an arson attack at the Pennsylvania Governor's mansion in April, to the murder of two Israeli embassy workers at a Jewish museum in Washington, DC, to the firebombing of peaceful demonstrators in Colorado on Sunday. From Pointe du Hoc to Omaha Beach, and from Colleville Sur Mer to Sainte-Mère-Église, the heroism of American troops was on full display on June 6, 1944. Many of the Allied leaders were incompetent (Patton aside), but our men more than made up for that with their determination and courage. Nor did the fighting and dying end on the Normandy beaches, as troops fought their difficult way into the French countryside, pushing the Nazis back. There are countless stories of bravery
