Hmmm: Cornyn on the Ropes in Texas?

It may seem a bit early to start gaming the 2026 midterm elections, but not for Senate races -- and perhaps especially in Texas, where even a deep-red electorate has its issues with its own incumbents. John Cornyn recently tried to move up the Senate Republican leadership ladder after the retirement of Mitch McConnell, eventually losing to John Thune for Majority Leader. That may not be Cornyn's last loss, according to a new poll out from UpOne Insights and GOP pollster Robert Blizzard. Texas AG Ken Paxton announced a primary challenge against the 73-year-old four-term incumbent, and Blizzard's poll of 600 registered Republican voters shows Cornyn down

FTA: "Yikes. How often does a four-term incumbent in a safe state for his own party get down by double digits in a primary without some sort of explosive scandal involved?" This is indicative of just how bad a Rino Cornyn is. He, along with many other Rinos in the US House and Senate not to mention the Texas House and Senate, need to be gone yesterday. They are all despicable in my estimation and are worse than Democrats since Rinos have to lie through their teeth to their constituency to get elected in Conservative states.

There is an unfortunately large flock of these Rinos, who lack the stones, integrity, and/or convictions of conservative principles. Cornyn is of such feather. He can go now.

Cornyn should have been primaried a long, long, LONG time ago, and yet the author seems to think his poor polling results are a bad thing. And therein lies a huge problem with the Republican party--even people on this site seem to think Rubio, Vance, and DeSantis are great when really these fools are bought and paid for by the Deep State! Wake up, people, and do your homework before it's too late.

As soon as I saw Cornyn's name appear as co-host for the U.S. Senate investigation into Joe Biden's mental stupidity cover-up, I just knew his re-election was in trouble back home. Republicans in Texas are sick of his McCain-istic ways of SAYING one thing in the primary/general elections, but then DO another entirely different thing in his "elected state" of DC.

Texas Republicans have been trying to get rid of Cornyn for years. Cornyn's opponent usually gets demonized, jailed, or an attempted impeachment, as in the case of Ken Paxton. Rick Perry was indicted almost the day after he announced his run for presidency. Texas politics can get nasty. Paxton will win the Senate race, because Cornyn was Mitch McConnell's right hand man, and he can't escape that taint.

As a voter in Texas, I am of the opinion that John Cornyn should retire. My attitude on voting is that you vote for your preferred candidate in the primary, and then vote against the worst candidate in the general election. John Cornyn will not have my vote in the primary.

Now that Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson have published Original Sin, which confirms what most Americans already knew — that former President Joe Biden was cognitively unfit to carry out the duties of his office — the corporate media are attempting to deflect attention from their complicity in a dangerous cover up. The “original sin,” according to Tapper and Thompson, was Biden’s decision to run for reelection in 2024 and the dishonesty of his aides. A far more egregious sin, however, was the cover-up of Biden’s decline by countless journalists who refused to report the truth.

In light of the fresh revelations stemming from the release of the new exposé on Joe Biden, "Original Sin," as well as the recent announcement that the former president has an aggressive form of prostate cancer, questions are being raised about what those closest to him may have known and if so, when they knew it.Among those in the hot seat is Dr. Kevin O'Connor, who was Biden's White House physician and who was also referenced in the book as having a discussion with aides about the possibility that Biden would need to use a wheelchair in his last year and a half in office if he suffered another fall.

A growing number of Democrats are arguing that members of their party need to reconsider their use of certain left-wing words and phrases if they want to better connect with voters they lost in the 2024 election cycle, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday. Some members of the Democratic Party are raising concerns that many of their candidates have become too reliant on using elite-sounding phrases, which they claim is a type of language that could isolate working-class voters, according to the Washington Post. The article cites examples of left-wing words and phrases often used by Democrats, such as “oligarchs,” “equity,” “justice-involved populations” and “intersectionality.”

It’s taken a while, but Democrats are finally confronting the empirical reality of their second loss to Trump. The evidence is impossible to ignore. For example, recent analysis of county-level voting trends in the past three elections by Shane Goldmacher in The New York Times shows that Trump improved his standing in “1,433 of the nation's 3,100+ counties, even as he lost in 2020. Democrats have expanded their vote share continuously in only 57 counties.” Likewise, TLP’s own analysis of the gold-star Catalist data from 2024 shows how the party lost significant ground with major demographic groups from 2012 to 2024, including: black voters (22-point decline), Latinos (27-point decline), working-class

For a sense of how desperate the opponents of President Trump have become, consider the rallying cry issued by Hillary Clinton to her fellow travelers last Friday: “I want you to talk to two people — friends, neighbors, cookout attendees — about why Trump’s proposed budget would be a disaster for American kids.” Now, imagine yourself sitting down to enjoy a hotdog and a beer in the warm spring weather only to be accosted by your progressive brother-in-law who insists on boring the bejabbers out of you with a rote recitation of talking points thoughtfully provided by HRC.

Like a lot of Democrats these days, Chris Murphy has been doing some soul searching. For years, the Connecticut Senator, who took office shortly after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, was one of the nation’s most outspoken advocates for tighter gun laws. Gun safety was so important, he argued, that supporting an assault-weapons ban should be mandatory for Democratic leaders. Recently, Murphy has come to believe he was wrong. Not about tougher gun laws, but about trying to force all Democrats to adopt his position. “I bear some responsibility for where we are today,” he told me in a phone interview in April.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is angling to be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2028 by trying to appeal to voters outside his progressive base. But he's not fooling anyone. Newsom, for example, has proposed limiting health care coverage for migrants who entered the country illegally. He's told local leaders in California to clear homeless encampments, which are a bane for urban dwellers from San Francisco to San Diego. And he's even engaged on his podcast in thoughtful, cordial conversations with conservatives like Charlie Kirk, cofounder of Turning Point USA.

President Trump’s return to the White House and his populist agenda constitute an existential threat to a Democratic Party so unpopular with its own voters that it is in danger of going the way of the Whigs. Several recent polls have revealed that only about 1 in 3 Democrats are optimistic about the future of their party. In response to this crisis, their leaders have reverted to their longstanding tradition of inciting political violence. James Comey claims he is “nonaligned” politically, yet his now notorious “8647” Instagram post was all too typical of Democrat calls for the President’s assassination.

I realize we increasingly have become a society that embraces a “my way or the highway” attitude. Both sides are guilty of that way of thinking. Yet, it seems especially egregious from those on the left. Progressives’ lack of tolerance for other views has presented itself in different iterations, from the cancel culture phenomenon to angry demonstrations on college campuses when a conservative dares to speak. So perhaps it's not surprising that liberals love slapping labels on those who have the audacity to believe something different from progressive dogma. Nazi. Hitler. Bigot. Hater. To name a few.

In February, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem terminated Venezuela’s 2023 designation for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a temporary immigration status granted when foreign nationals cannot return to their home countries because of safety concerns, such as ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or epidemics. A TPS designation protects individuals from deportation and allows them to apply for authorization to work in the United States.
