A Seattle man travelled more than 60 miles to find help after falling 400ft off a mountain in an accident that killed his three companions. Authories say the protective equipment used by the group failed on Saturday in the northern Cascade mountain range, in an area called the Early Winter Spires. Officials say the group of four mountain climbers were abseiling down a steep gully after deciding to turn back due to an incoming storm. Connected to each other by ropes, the group fell about 200ft (60m) through the air, before tumbling another 200ft over rocks, dirt and snow.

Economist Professor Gigi Foster delivered a TEDx talk titled THE MANIPULATORS’ PLAYBOOK at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in October 2024. It was a bold examination of how, in times of crisis, fear and conformity can be deliberately harnessed by those in power to manipulate public behaviour and silence dissent. Her message was a call to defend the freedom to question, to challenge authority, and to think independently. But when the video was submitted to TED’s US headquarters for publication on the organisation’s official YouTube channel, it was rejected.

One subject that renewable advocates are averse to discussing is asset utilization and I can understand why. Capacity factors, which are a measure of asset utilization, plummet when renewables enter the picture. As a typical example look at Red Eléctrica de España (REE). In 2024, it had capacity factors for wind, solar, and natural gas of 22%, 17%, and 16%, respectively. In essence, REE possessed three expensive assets that were grossly underutilized. If it discarded the wind and solar, the natural gas capacity factor would rise to 64%.
Moreover, even with the price of natural gas being four times (4x) more in Spain than in Texas

Nearly two dozen Tren de Aragua gangbangers in an ICE detention center in Texas have barricaded themselves and threatened to take hostages in a major uprising — days after migrants spelled out “SOS” in the prison yard.
Members of the Venezuelan gang threatened to hold ICE officers captive and injure them on April 26 as they barricaded the doors of their unit with their cots, covered surveillance cameras, blocked windows, and flooded the unit by clogging the toilets, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
The takeover attempt lasted “several hours,” with the detainees ignoring the orders of ICE agents.

Capitol Police on Wednesday appeared to remove Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen from the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions’ (HELP) hearing with Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Anti-Israel protesters disrupted Kennedy’s opening statement before the committee, in which footage showed Cohen standing up and being removed by police. Cohen spoke at a pro-Palestine press conference with Democrat Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib outside of the U.S. Capitol ahead of the hearing.
“You’re killing poor kids in Gaza and paying for it by cutting Medicaid for kids here,” Cohen said, according to an X post that he reposted himself.

So-called “influencers” are being accused of threatening the white African refugees in social media posts that are going viral for all the wrong reasons.
Apparently, it’s cool to be xenophobic again as long as the people fleeing oppression are white. At least, that’s what one might glean from the videos that have been coming out since President Donald Trump made it his administration’s priority to “promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation.”
But America may not be any safer than the violence they are fleeing if these people have their way.

Democrat Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) is slated to introduce a reparations resolution this week, as she believes it is a “moral and legal obligation” for Americans.
The resolution itself involves the U.S. spending “trillions” on reparations for black Americans. The resolution points to Jim Crow laws as part of the justification for the use of U.S. tax dollars going toward this effort.
“This is a moment in time where societies are shaped [and] new societies are built. We should be the ones who are shaping it,” Lee said, enraged that President Donald Trump ended many diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) measures with the “stroke of a pen.”

“The DA’s office said this would be a ‘no plea deal’ case, so they were not going to offer anything; any concession,” Kaitlyn’s father, John Weaver told CBS Colorado.

As TGP readers know, the corporate media has trumpeted the number of measles cases spreading across America to smear the Trump Administration, particularly RFK Jr.
These hacks see the rise of this infamous childhood disease as an opportunity to discredit the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) agenda and create a new so-called scandal within the Trump Administration.
There are currently about 1,100 cases of the highly contagious disease in America, mostly from unvaccinated individuals

That's a joke, obviously. Democrats never impeach their own, even after they become liabilities; they just exile them to the political wilderness. You and I have spent the last week or so watching them attempting to do just that to a sitting Democrat senator, Pennsylvania's John Fetterman. If Republicans had the same ruthless instincts, John McCain’s last public appearance would’ve been around 1990 — on the side of a milk carton.

It was a BRUTAL smackdown on Capitol Hill today when Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. torched Democrat Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA) over the left’s tired lies about “Medicaid cuts.”
The exchange happened during a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions hearing at 1:30 p.m. ET, where RFK Jr. testified on the White House’s budget request under the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” — a $500 million package to complete his signature MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) objectives.
But when Rep. Harder tried to score cheap political points by accusing the administration of slashing Medicaid and abandoning the poor, RFK Jr. unleashed the facts.

Clinton opted to weigh in on the Qatar plane controversy currently circulating in the media as if it were the smoking gun that would finally bring down Donald Trump's presidency. I realize we increasingly have become a society that embraces a “my way or the highway” attitude. Both sides are guilty of that way of thinking.
Yet, it seems especially egregious from those on the left.
Progressives’ lack of tolerance for other views has presented itself in different iterations, from the cancel culture phenomenon to angry demonstrations on college campuses when a conservative dares to speak.
So perhaps it's not surprising that liberals love slapping labels on those who have the audacity to believe something different from progressive dogma.

But when I speak of "fun", I am not just talking about policies. I'm talking about entertainment value. About Trump's showmanship. His ability to dazzle, amuse and to drive his political opponents insane. It's worth the price of admission as an American citizen.

Trump has done it again. That much is clear. He has outmaneuvered and out-thought everyone else, and did what many others assumed to be impossible.
But what exactly has he done?
On Wednesday morning, during his trip to Saudi Arabia, Trump met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who from 2017 until January of this year, was known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani. Al-Sharaa was the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the “Syrian Liberation Group,” a Sunni jihad group that had been linked to al-Qaeda and was working to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
In January 2025, HTS finally attained its goal. Assad fled to Russia. Al-Julani took control in Damascus

“It’s over $200 billion, but 160 in terms of the jets. That’s fantastic,” Trump said at the signing ceremony, flanked by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Boeing Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg. The deal marks a rare bright spot for Boeing, whose fortunes have been in freefall.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said Wednesday he wants the state to stop enrolling more low-income illegal immigrants in a state-funded health care program, beginning next year.
Under Newsom’s plan, the state would not end coverage for illegal immigrants who are already enrolled in Medi-Cal, the state’s Medicaid program. However, the state would begin charging adults with “unsatisfactory immigrant status” a monthly premium of $100 beginning in 2027.
Newsom’s announcement comes after the governor previously said in March he was not considering rolling back health benefits for low-income illegal immigrants, even as the state contended with a $6.2 billion Medicaid shortfall.

One of them, seemingly a solid one, is that a well-financed effort is underway to acquire several major conservative outlets, including Human Events, The Post Millennial, and The Daily Caller, to roll them up under a single owner. As a matter of principle, I’m deeply opposed to the idea of a consortium controlling multiple once-independent websites.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.” Abraham Lincoln spoke those words in 1858, not as a metaphor, but as a warning.
The country was tearing along seams of ideology and morality. Lincoln saw it. He feared America could not endure as both a slave state and a free one. He was right.
But even then, Lincoln hoped the Union would stand. He didn’t root for secession or sabotage. He didn’t pray for Southern crops to fail or cities to burn to make his case. He confronted the moment of agony and clarity, defending a flawed system while preparing to save it from itself.
That’s what leadership once looked like.
Now, fast-forward 165 years.

Wars seemed to be breaking out everywhere this week — in Kashmir, Congo, and in a new phase in Gaza. Closer to home, Democrats appear to be opening a hot civil war of their own.
Political veteran James Carville was punching down to the ingénue David Hogg, scolding him for ham-handedly seeking to primary party elders.
AOC and Bernie Sanders want to declare war against oligarchs who, ironically, mostly support Democrats and their causes. The portly Gov. Pritzker is now competing in a speech to New Hampshire Democrats to be the party’s angriest man in the room

The Episcopal Church’s migration service said it will refuse the Trump administration's request to help resettle dozens of White South Africans granted refugee status by the federal government. In a statement, Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe said the Episcopal Migration Ministries will instead terminate its partnership with the government. The announcement came shortly before 59 South Africans arrived in the United States.
"In light of our church’s steadfast commitment to racial justice and reconciliation and our historic ties with the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, we are not able to take this step," Rowe said of the government's request that the church help resettle the South African citizens.
