MIAMI BEACH, Florida — Activist and philanthropist Abigail Disney urged donors and the leaders of major foundations and nonprofits to be braver with their giving, especially at a time when more are fearful about speaking their minds. (Snip) Disney told The Associated Press in an interview before the panel that she planned to be more outspoken because “everyone has been so quiet since the election.” Many question why major donors and foundations have not reacted faster to the Trump administration’s cuts to foreign aid and federal funding to nonprofits, though some organizations, like the Marguerite Casey Foundation, have opted to

Just reading the snippet posted you can see the intellectual rot from Abigail Disney. If anything the left has become even more rabid in their coverage of this administration. I do not see how they can get past the 11 on a scale of 10 that they are assaulting the American public with on an hourly basis.

I always laugh when I hear people born with 20 silver spoons in their mouth telling others how to spend their money and 'be brave.'

I believe "nonprofits" and "foundations" should be removed from the tax code, and taxed like everybody else.

I think it's a great idea, but everyone knows that liberals don't spend their own money, so I don't see it succeeding. The only time a liberal spends his own money, is when it hurts America and the American people!

How come if she thinks she's sooo smart, she cannot address the MASSIVE fraud & waste in gvt spending that has almost crippled our country? Why isn't she sharp enough to see that her side is the culprit behind all this? That's a rhetorical question, we know why.

People that did nothing to earn their wealth often have no common sense about how the money should be used. True philanthropy is not about bravery. It is about judgement and wisdom.

The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to approve a sweeping package of minimum wage increases for workers in the tourism industry, despite objections from business leaders who warned that the region is already facing a slowdown in international travel. The proposal, billed by labor leaders as the highest minimum wage in the country, would require hotels with more than 60 rooms, as well as companies doing business at Los Angeles International Airport, to pay their workers $30 per hour by 2028. That translates to a 48% hike in the minimum wage for hotel employees over three years. Airport workers

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg held a town hall in the influential early-contest state of Iowa on Tuesday, potentially fueling added speculation about another presidential run for the prominent Democrat. Buttigieg held the town hall with VoteVets, a progressive political action committee advocating on issues like national security and veterans’ care, in Cedar Rapids, marking the first time he’s been back to Iowa since the end of the Biden administration. The former 2020 presidential candidate noted that he’s not currently a public official, nor is he actively running for office and called on officials to take part in more events

Inflation was slightly lower than expected in April as President Donald Trump’s tariffs just began hitting the slowing U.S. economy, according to a Labor Department report Tuesday. The consumer price index, which measures the costs for a broad range of goods and services, rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2% for the month, putting the 12-month inflation rate at 2.3%, its lowest since February 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. The monthly reading was in line with the Dow Jones consensus estimate while the 12-month was a bit below the forecast for 2.4%. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, core CPI

DENVER — The impact of President Donald Trump's new policies and executive orders have been felt around the country, including in Denver classrooms. Data from Denver Public Schools found that in the weeks and months after Trump took office, his mass deportation plans and the fear they instilled in some communities had a big impact on how many kids came to class. WASHINGTON – Former Supreme Court Associate Justice David Souter, a Republican nominee who sided with his liberal colleagues in many high-profile cases in his 19-year tenure, has died. He was 85. (Snip) A former New Hampshire attorney general, Souter’s background as a New England moderate put him at odds with the more conservative Republican Party forged by Ronald Reagan’s presidency. That perspective often left Souter in dissent on a conservative high court led by former Chief Justice William Rehnquist. California's beleaguered pot industry was given another piece of bad news Thursday afternoon: The state cannabis tax rate will increase from 15% to 19% on July 1, the highest allowed by state law. Even if it did pass the Senate, the House wasn't expected to take up the resolution after Republicans passed a rule that specifically blocks this type of resolution until the end of September. Trump has faced two assassination attempts — one of which resulted in him being shot and a bystander being killed — in the past year.
