The Episcopal Church’s migration service said it will refuse the Trump administration's request to help resettle dozens of White South Africans granted refugee status by the federal government. In a statement, Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe said the Episcopal Migration Ministries will instead terminate its partnership with the government. The announcement came shortly before 59 South Africans arrived in the United States.
"In light of our church’s steadfast commitment to racial justice and reconciliation and our historic ties with the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, we are not able to take this step," Rowe said of the government's request that the church help resettle the South African citizens.

Liberals are always liberals first. Liberalism and Christianity are mutually exclusive.

After the LGBTQ+++ and those who endorse rampant Paedophilia took over the Episcopal Church in the mid 1970s, I left and cried!

The Church is not immune to Federal law. If the Episcopal Church, not known for its conservatism, wants to break the law, they will be subject to its power.

In response to #1, especially when looking at what some of the issues Democrats stand for, it seems almost in rebellion to God's ways.

I would guess that the main contributors to the Episcopal Church are white.
Will these supporters continue to support a Church that will help any color but white?
Most Americans do not have a clue as to the asylum seekers from Venezuela or the rest of South America but we all know what is happening to whites in South Africa as the farms are stolen and their safety is threatened by blacks.

So, their definition of racial injustice is one sided. If you are one race they take care of you, Another race you are scorned. Very nice. No wonder less and less people are gonig to church these days.

These people are supposed to be Christian? Yeah with a big "but" and conditions, where only certain groups deserve their help. If they are not illegal, LBT*** or trans, but are truly being persecuted and murdered and white, they don't count. I bet God isn't smiling on these faux christians with their onesided conditions and cold hearts.

Revoke their tax exempt status. They've got their issues that don't align with the government, or are at least neutral, let them pay for them.

If the Episcopals want to be surrounded by black and brown people, Africa and South America are big places that should suit them just fine. Move the churches there instead of bringing the third world here.

I fixed the headline...'Episcopal Church refuses to resettle
South African refugees because their skin isn't brown.'
It isn't a charity if they're taking money from the government.

Among other things, Christianity is supposed to be color-blind. Considering these people are blatantly discriminating on the basis of color, they aren't even close to being Christian; just (as another poster put it) people playing dress up.

The leftist and progressive Democrats only want “refugees” who can be categorized as being members of minority groups in accordance with Democrat identity politics to be allowed into the USA, as the Democrats consider such aliens to be future leftist and progressive Democrat supporters and voters by as many millions as possible. Beyond that the leftist and progressive Democrat covert political agenda is to allow as many Third World origin aliens into the USA as possible in the years ahead to permanently change the population demographics of the country, to that of a minority-majority country, where a vast coalition of minority groups of both domestic and foreign origin, aligned to the leftist and progressive Democrats decide the future politics of the USA and keep the leftist and progressive Democrats in permanent political power on into the future.

I hope 'terminating their partnership with the government' means they will accept no more tax-payer funds. Let them spend their own money on their favored colored refugees!

I don’t understand the Presiding Bishop’s response. Were these folks thrown off their land? Were they threatened for their lives? Was their government failing to protect them or even threatening them? How are these not then asylum seekers? I’m being serious: I am confused.

The American Episcopal church has been bleeding membership for decades. It's a dying sect. And the fault belongs to the House of Bishops and the General Convention which took a leftward turn years ago and never looked back. I was raised in the church but will never return.

If the refugees were blacks or gnagbangers, no problem. But in the leftist world, whites must be discriminated against. Dems have been discriminating against white males for three generations. Recently expanded it to all whites. In God's eyes, all his children are equal except for whites (and in Nazi German it was Jews) depending on the political ideology of the denomination. A denomination of primarily whites now discriminates against whites. How purely leftist can it get?

The argument is that the Afrikaners are colonialists heritage and do not somehow deserve support fro being persecuted by the South Afican government.
Little history. When I took a South African class( pre - woke at university , taught be a a fairly liberal professor) one of the first steps in learning about this part of the world was that it was empty. Between disease and war that whole south part of Africa was deserted..
As the Dutch(Afrikaners) landed in the south and start moving north, from the north the native African tribes started moving south into this empty part of the continent. In effect it did not belong to anyone. No one was displaced. It was up for grabs. The Dutch won in this case. Later the British 'displaced ' the Dutch(Afrikaners). See Boer War..
This is an invalid argument that the white Dutch were colonizers..

The "Separation of Church and State" is usually sacrosanct to leftists, unless it involves taking millions in taxpayer funds for doing things that any "normal" Christian congregation would do for free.

In the good ole boys Marist hand book...it talks about fighting the fight from within...the church has filled it's important positions with LGBTing folks...who are now taking the church down...I was afraid with our last Pope...he was to liberal...and didn't follow the Bible's Ten Commandments...I'm hoping for a different touch from Pope Leo XIV....thou shalt not kill means no abortions are allowed...God made Man and Woman...not a variety in-between....

There go the rest of the conservative members. They are probablt the most generous and faithful tithers. They are putting their mouth where the money is. I am a Presbyterian (not PCUSA) and it's not my circus and not my monkeys but leftist churches are losing members every day. I was a Methodist until the bishops demanded gay pastors and gay marriages. It wasn't so much that as it was the arrogance to demand our way or the highway. It tore the church apart and something like 35% left and formed new churches. The utility bill alone for the church I left is $28,000 a year. I am not sure how long it can continue with the pews half empty. We welcomed all before, blacks, gays just not as pastors and the attendant wokeness forced on us..

My hope would be that if they refuse to resettle one group, the government terminates all ties with THEM-- something that would really be good in the long run. The more we shed these leaches, the better.

I don't understand this. None of the 59 refugees is old enough to have had anything to do with Apartheid. This is like scolding a German teenager over the Holocaust. There's no logic to this. And anyone complaining about this would choose these people as next door neighbors before they'd ever accept a house full of Haitians or a colony of MS-13.

Does the Church understand how hypocritical they sound when they say that they will not help the White South African refugees because they "jumped the line" over other refugees and migrants? Yet, the church will jump through hoops, hold protests, and file lawsuits in order to resettle and defend people who illegally entered the country and are criminals!

They lost my respect when they started performing marriages of gays. It says in the ":Bible" that homosexuality is an abomination, yet they bless it. Not my idea of being a good Christian.
