The White House said on Friday that President Joe Biden is not considering raising the Stars and Stripes to full-staff for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. President Jimmy Carter died on Dec. 29 at the age of 100 in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. According to the U.S. flag code, the death of a sitting or former president is observed by flying the American flag at half-staff for 30 days from the date of death on all public buildings and grounds, military posts, naval stations, and naval vessels.

The former second lady was seated next to her husband, former Vice President Mike Pence, and remained seated as the Trumps arrived.
She made no effort to shake hands with Melania Trump, who she worked hand-in-hand with when their husbands were in office during Trump's first term. Joe Biden is mentally cooked and almost out the door, but he had to do what presidents do during these natural disasters. The wildfires engulfing Los Angeles County is the second inferno Biden has dealt with. He led Maui burn to the ground and took his sweet time visiting the island, whose residents endured the worst wildfire seen in almost a century. The president was briefed on the raging wildfires that have so far killed at least two people, destroyed over 1,000 buildings, forced 70,000 from their homes, and charred close to 30,000 acres. “Do you owe citizens and apology for being absent while their homes were burning, and do you regret cutting the Fire Department budget by millions of dollars madame mayor?” Sky News reporter David Blevins asked as Bass waited to deplane.

Earlier today when I wrote about the wildfires I mentioned that there were reports the hydrants were simply running dry, leaving firefighters no way to battle the flames. Here's Rick Caruso, former candidate for LA mayor, describing the problem. FIle this next clip under "too good to check" but apparently this morning one local LA anchor tried to discount what Caruso was saying only to have a reporter contradict him a minute later. That knee-jerk urge to contradict whatever criticism Democrats are getting is one surefire way the media consistently sets its own credibility on fire.

What was intended to be a somber occasion, however, quickly became charged with tension so thick attendees could feel it in the air.Among the ceremonial obligations to honor the former president, the spectacle of political posturing and strained handshakes was enough to quite the sideshow. It began with President Donald Trump walking past Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau’s side-eye was practically a headline in itself. (X)

Republicans in Congress are already getting to work on trying to implement Donald Trump’s agenda.
Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) this week put forward a joint resolution seeking to limit the number of terms members of Congress can serve.
Under the terms of the amendment, U.S. senators would be restricted to two six-year terms and representatives in the U.S. House to three two-year terms.
According to the resolution, the amendment would take effect within seven years of being approved by Congress and ratified by the states.
We reported earlier on some of the priceless interactions between the various presidents, vice presidents, and their spouses at the state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter. We saw President Trump shake hands with his former VP Mike Pence, despite what can only be considered strained feelings between the two these days. There was the chilly interaction between Jill Biden and Kamala Harris, and the ridiculous reason that Michelle Obama wasn't there. There was Joe Biden, looking out of it, as usual. (Snip) But as the funeral went on there was another priceless moment that I had to share -- Kamala Harris' reaction to Barack Obama talking with Trump.
