Trump promised to be a dictator
on Day 1: Here’s why the Insurrection
Act blocks him

Original Article

Could President-elect Donald Trump use the military within the U.S. to suppress protests on college campuses, patrol the southern border, and conduct mass deportations? By invoking the Insurrection Act — a little-known law that grants the president sweeping authority to deploy the military on American soil — he plans to do just that. - Snip - But in a moment when our democracy hangs by a thread, when the president-elect has openly declared potentially authoritarian ambitions, it could become the legal mechanism for Trump (or any president) to transform our constitutional democracy into a military state

Comments:

Projection is strong these two with. We don't have a democracy. We have a Constitutional Republic, where representatives are democratically elected. Kamala Harris was selected, not elected to be the DemonRat party's nominee. With this act, if not sooner, the DemonRat party showed itself to be the threat to "Democracy" and as others have said "There is nothing democratic about the Democratic party." If PDJT was going to establish a military dictatorship, he could have done it in his first term. He didn't. And if he tried to do it now, the military would disobey that illegal order. Finaly, he was joking when he said he would be dictator on Day One.

I am SO sick and tired of this demented twisting of Trump's words. During a town hall, Sean Hannity asked DJT if he was going to be a dictator. DJT said 'only for one day', that he would close the borders and drill baby drill. I might not be remembering the quote exactly, but he did NOT say he would be a dictator starting on day one. The people who keep spreading this misinformation should be sued into oblivion!

Repelling invaders is more a job for the military than the law enforcement function of identifying and deporting those illegals who were waved in by Biden's leftist administration in defiance of the laws relating to immigration on our books. If civilian law enforcement took the lead, the military could support DHS in sealing and maintaining the integrity of our borders, cutting the flow of invaders and preventing their weapons and drugs from continuing to enter our country. Moving 1 Marine Expeditionary Force, the largest Marine Air Ground Task Force, from Camp Pendleton, CA to South Texas to seal the border, blow hell out of any objecting cartels, and back up its citizens, law enforcement, and state National Guard troops in carrying out deportations against violent gangs of illegals. A profound message that our national sovereignty matters again would be sent and received.

Less than 24 hours after Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States, social media users began pushing two conflicting narratives to suggest election fraud. One revived false claims by Trump that the 2020 vote was stolen from him and the other questioned how Vice President Kamala Harris could have received so many fewer votes in 2024 than President Joe Biden in 2020. Both narratives hinge on a supposed 20 million vote gap between Harris and Biden.

Donald Trump has a taste for hyperbole. But if he wins Tuesday, he will have pulled off the greatest comeback in American political history. What other man could survive two impeachments, a congressional committee investigation stacked against him, two special prosecutors, dozens of state and federal felony indictments and opposition from a significant chunk of his own party, including his former vice president and a chief of staff? But in a democracy, the first question to ask about an election is this: What are the American people telling us?

The CNN host demanded to know whether Trump would honor the results of the election in the event of defeat, but the South Carolina senator neatly sidestepped the repeated questioning. “One of Donald Trump‘s allies, Steve Bannon, who was released from prison this week, told the New York Times that Trump should simply declare victory on election night regardless of the results,” Bash said on “State of the Nation” Sunday.

The lawsuit Trump has brought today against CBS is completely without merit and we will vigorously defend against it.
There's a Big Problem With Social Security's

For Social Security's more than 68 million beneficiaries, nothing loomed larger last week than the annual reveal of the program's cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). Based on 23 years of annual surveys from Gallup, 80% to 90% of retirees (including 88% in 2024) have consistently pointed to their Social Security income as being necessary to make ends meet. For a majority of retired-worker beneficiaries, knowing how much they'll be receiving each month in the upcoming year is critical information. While Social Security's 2025 COLA marks the fourth consecutive year of an above-average payout, it also comes with a sizable, and unavoidable, problem.

On July 26, in the aftermath of the Democratic Party's ruthless midsummer coup of their own democratically elected presidential nominee, this column predicted that the elevation of dimwitted cackler-in-chief Kamala Harris to the party's presidential slot would "spectacularly backfire." More specifically, I wrote: "Practically, the path to winning 270 Electoral College votes still runs through the Rust Belt states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. It is frankly bizarre for Democrats to swap out the man who talks ceaselessly about his hardscrabble Scranton upbringing for a Californian who boasts the most left-wing voting record of any presidential nominee in modern history."

Yet, this week, she’s shaking things up and doing her first ever sit-down interview with Fox News. The interview will take place Wednesday with Fox News anchor Bret Baier. Baier has said that he won't treat Harris with kid gloves during their conversation, and that any editing of the interview will only be for “timing” and that “no topic is off the table.” Sounds promising.

The claims against Gaetz are but another information operation, however, mirroring the ones that previously targeted Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. And this pattern will continue unabated unless Americans unflinchingly condemn the tactic — no matter the target.
