Stop the Presses! Shutdown Biden’s midnight
regulations by letting the government

In 2023, the Biden administration published over 90,000 pages in the Federal Register (“FR”). [snip] In fact, since election day last month, the Biden administration has published nearly 16,000 pages in the FR. [snip] The question is — why let it get that far? If the government shuts down, so does the Federal Register, which could prevent hundreds of additional rules from being finalized or proposed. This is a truly historic opportunity for Trump, DOGE, and the Republicans.

Comments:

The best reason yet to support a shutdown. We can survive four weeks and this makes it worth it.

Since the Dems are not honoring the mandate of the election ... or the last midterms as well, and trying to sneak a bunch of obstructive trash in under the bell ... just shutting the whole thing down until Inauguration day would settle that, wouldn't it? Trump is, if nothing else, a counter-puncher. This could definitely backfire on the Hack man and dirty Chuck.

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho lawmakers wrapped up the 2024 Legislative Session in early April, signing several bills into law; however, three new laws in particular are being met with contention by some Idahoans, including Boise School District (BSD) superintendent Coby Dennis. The superintendent wrote to parents and staff addressing three bills recently signed into law by Governor Brad Little regarding the definition of sex and gender, the mandated usage of preferred pronouns and potentially harmful materials in libraries.

Google announced Friday it would remove links to California news sites from its search results for some users as it continues to push back against a pending state bill that would require the company to pay publishers. In a blog post published Friday, the search giant said the bill, officially known as the California Journalism Preservation Act, would change the company’s business model. If signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom, the bill would require tech companies like Google to pay news outlets a “journalism usage fee” when they sell advertising alongside news content.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says he plans to make a one-day trip to Israel to meet some of those affected by the war. The Democratic governor will arrive in Israel tomorrow and will depart the same day. The announcement by Newsom’s office did not specify where the governor would go. His office says California will send medical supplies to the region, including to the Gaza Strip. California is home to the largest population of Arab Americans in the United States, according to the Arab American Institute. It also has the second largest populations of Jews in the US,…

American Self-Government is Falling Apart 15 replies

The American system does not require unanimity. In fact, its design presumes deep disagreement on matters of morality and policy. This is why questions like religion are left to individual conscience, and why most policy is left to states or even smaller units, where the law’s touch will not be felt as harshly, because it reflects the more similar values of a smaller group. Finally, regardless of who has the reins of the federal government, the Constitution renders a great deal of substantive activity off limits, as exemplified by the Bill of Rights.

Two weeks ago, I warned my readers (on Substack of course) that Democrats were preparing to arrest President Trump on bogus charges to stop him from winning the 2024 election. As I wrote in that article on July 27th: “Democrats were hoping to dent Trump’s popularity with the January 6th Unselect Committee televised hearings but nobody’s watching it (outside Washington) and nobody cares. Since that gambit has failed, Democrats seem to think that arresting President Trump on bogus charges and trying him in a kangaroo court is their only remaining option.”
The key to understanding our ruling elites 6 replies
Posted by jimincalif 7/13/2022 5:52:11 PM Post Reply
In the United States, Congress passes laws but exempts its members from the laws' reach. Presidents sign "executive orders" that are nowhere mentioned in the Constitution. Courts often make policy and change or obstruct laws by "interpreting" the Constitution to fit the policy preferences of judges. The laws are often applied unequally depending on the person violating them. The families of our governing elites often enrich themselves and acquire wealth and privileges on that basis alone. During the COVID-19 pandemic, governors, mayors, and other members of the ruling class imposed restrictions that they arrogantly ignored.

The Left prides itself on being the side of logic, reason, and science, painting anyone who disagrees with them as irrational and denying the truths revealed by science. Yet every day their actions seem to belie these claims as they promote positions that are contrary to fact, or attempt actions that have no possibility of working. If they are so logical and science-based, these things raise the question of why?

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden made an urgent plea Thursday for Congress to extend a nationwide moratorium on evictions, arguing a Supreme Court ruling had left him unable to act on his own. The eviction freeze, which is set to expire on Saturday, was put in place last September by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to protect Americans who have fallen behind on their rent during the coronavirus pandemic.

CBS News’ Lesley Stahl is having a bit of heartburn after the 2024 election. Donald Trump is coming back. The GOP retained control of Congress. The media establishment was once again skinned alive by the tens of millions of Americans who rightly rejected, ignored, or outright dismissed their shoddy narratives against Trump and the ones manufactured to prop up Vice President Kamala Harris. So, it’s somewhat laughable that she fears legacy media is dead. Stahl and The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan spoke about the latter’s latest book at the 92NY Center’s Recanati-Kaplan Talks in late November. Stahl relayed a

She was lamenting to her colleague, Peggy Noonan, that “we are at the point where even the president,” then corrected herself saying, “Elon Musk,” asserted that legacy media is dead. She appeared extremely worried, spilling her deepest concerns, in front of an empathetic audience gathered at the 92nd St. YMCA studio in New York. It was as if Stahl was having an out-of-body experience, where she failed to factor in herself, in accounting for the reason why audiences were abandoning network news in droves.

Republicans scored a significant victory after successfully passing a spending bill on Friday to avert a looming government shutdown with just 12 hours to spare. The new 118-page bill, which overcame partisan tensions, reflects a strategic win for GOP lawmakers after 38 Republicans voted against the Trump-backed bill on Thursday. After negotiating, lawmakers agreed to trim the funding bill to just under 600 pages after the initial draft was more than 1,300 pages and included unnecessary spending, such as a pay increase for Congress members.

A Maryland woman dubbed the "Black Widow" for murdering two husbands and a boyfriend for insurance money is now free after President Joe Biden commuted her 40-year prison sentence, undercutting the White House's claim that Biden released only "non-violent" offenders in a clemency bonanza last week. Among the 1,500 federal convicts granted clemency was Josephine Virginia Gray, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison in 2002 for insurance fraud schemes connected to the murders of three men between 1974 and 1996. Gray was resentenced to the same amount of time again in 2006 following a series of appeals.

In a Senate chamber that has seen more backroom deals and spineless compromises than bold conservative action, Mitch McConnell, the epitome of a RINO, took to the podium to deliver his final speech as Senate Republican Leader. The Kentucky senator’s comments, filled with self-praise and subtle digs at his conservative critics, summed up a career marked by giving in to opposition. McConnell, who has held the reins of Senate GOP leadership since 2007, boasted about his so-called “accomplishments,” which often came at the expense of the conservative values he was elected to uphold. What McConnell sees as “making a difference,” many conservatives recognize as selling out.

Trump, the wife of president-elect Donald's son Eric, had been considered one of the contenders to replace Rubio upon his confirmation to become the new Secretary of State. It was even considered as part of a deal between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis that could have seen him replace Pete Hegseth as nominee for Secretary of Defense.
