Biden asks Congress to extend eviction
moratorium 'without delay' as expiration looms

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden made an urgent plea Thursday for Congress to extend a nationwide moratorium on evictions, arguing a Supreme Court ruling had left him unable to act on his own. The eviction freeze, which is set to expire on Saturday, was put in place last September by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to protect Americans who have fallen behind on their rent during the coronavirus pandemic.

Comments:

I've been expecting this, another justification for hyping the Delta variant. Hopefully Congress won't do it. Just another delay in getting our economy back on track.

We’ve got an election coming up next year. We need to start greasing the skids and getting the counterfeit ballot forms ready. And preparing the necessary mythologies to prevent detection.

The government should not have the right to interfere with lawful contracts. How many people are soaking up the stimulus and unemployment money and not using it to pay their rent? It is time for this craziness to end. Landlords are not charitable organizations. Someone has to pay for those rental properties.

What about legal and binding signed lease agreements? How about landlords taking a big hit in lost rents and falling behind on their obligations like mortgage payments, insurance, property taxes, utilities, maintenance, etc? The iron-fisted control of the economy's degrowth continues. The financial beatings will continue until morale improves.

All part of human infrastructure. Rent, don’t worry about it, they will make landlords illegal. College loans? Don’t worry they are all forgiven. No job or desire to work, no problem they will pay you to stay home. Personal responsibility - why bother? Biden’s (with Obama behind the curtain) America. All accomplished through election fraud enabled by big tech and the MSM, along with the deep state.

It is clearly un-Constitutional. A simple search finds the Fifth Amendment's Takings Clause: “nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.”

I hope these tenants have good fire extinguishers on hand because they are not leaving landlords much option but to figure out how to get tenants evicted and property paid for in one easy swoop. Got to pay the bank somehow.

In the end, almost everyone got what they deserved. The president’s Achilles’ heel—relying on the wrong people to advance his political interests—led to his final ouster this week. Donald Trump ran out of runway and instead of preparing for a soft landing, he pumped the gas. It’s hard to blame him: His court challenges had been thwarted by the very judges he elevated to the federal bench, his hodgepodge legal team whirred in defeat, and Republican senators he helped elect quickly turned on him. As usual, the president was right:

Historians recognize some U.S. presidential elections as realignment elections — elections that fundamentally alter and reconfigure the various voting constituencies of our major political parties. The 2016 presidential election was one such realignment election. The preexisting blue-red partisan split was, at its core, deeply artificial: Both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party had merely been operating along slightly different points within a broader mutually shared neoliberal paradigm.

Across California on May 1, tens of thousands protested in defiance of statewide lockdown orders. In Sacramento, the west lawn of the state capitol building was filled with protesters, with thousands more marching along the sidewalk surrounding the capitol grounds. Additional thousands driving their cars and honking their horns created three hours of total gridlock on the streets that loop around the capitol. Noteworthy protests have taken place in San Diego, Encinitas, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Paso Robles, Santa Rosa, and even tiny Lakeport on the shores of Clear Lake. There is no end in sight.

One of the most obvious misconceptions about liberals today is that they personify tolerance. The Oxford English Dictionary defines tolerance as "the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with. A recent poll by the Survey Center on American Life at the American Enterprise Institute found that Democrats are twice as likely as Republicans to report ending a friendship over a political disagreement (20% versus 10%). Liberals are also "far more likely than conservatives are to say they are no longer friends with someone due to political differences" (28% versus 10%).

The Delta variant is much more contagious, more likely to break through protections afforded by the vaccines and may cause more severe disease than all other known versions of the virus, according to an internal presentation circulated within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, the director of the agency, acknowledged on Tuesday that vaccinated people with so-called breakthrough infections of the Delta variant carry just as much virus in the nose and throat as unvaccinated people, and may spread it just as readily, if less often.

McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas could become Harry Reid International as soon as September, a Clark County official said today. The county could conduct a ceremony and put up a new sign this fall to mark the renaming of the airport for the former longtime U.S. senator from Nevada, said Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a leading advocate for the renaming. The County Commission unanimously voted in February to rename the county-owned and operated airport for Democrat Reid, a Searchlight native who spent more than 30 years in Washington, mostly as a senator but also as a U.S. representative. He was Senate majority leader from 2007 to 2015.

A new coronavirus variant that originated in Colombia has been detected in South Florida. Variant B.1.621 has yet to receive a Greek letter designation from the World Health Organization (WHO), but it is starting to make an impact in Miami. Carlos Miyoga, CEO of Jackson Health System in Miami, told Local 10 that the strain accounts for around 10 percent of cases in the area. Health experts suspect that constant travel between Miami and Colombia caused the variant to travel in the state and are urging residents to get vaccinated. The variant was first discovered in January in the Colombia, where, at its peak in late June,
