The current state of the United States Congress is nowhere near what the Founding Fathers had in mind. [snip] The newspaper discovered that Rep. Granger was now the resident of a local memory care and assisted living home and had been for some time after she was found confused and wandering around her neighborhood. Assistant Executive Director for the memory care/assisted living home, Taylor Manzeil, confirmed that Granger was a resident, saying, "This is her home."

If Congress people can phone in their votes, disappear without anyone knowing where they are, then the question still hasn't been answered, who's running the country?

This is just sad. Hey did you know that Social Security pays 6.5 million seniors that are 112 year olds every month? Yep. There’s so much fraud in our government I bet we could get out of debt just by stopping that.

Congress critters are campaigning, vacationing, out of sessions so much that no one notices when they're not there for other reasons (how many reasons do they need?). The 2026 election needs to be a time for dragging 90% of our electeds out of office. If you've been in office more than 10 years, it's time to go. Across the board. No staying in Washington, call a congressional session once a year or quarterly. Travel on your states dime, live in the area you represent, work from freakin' home, as needed, with a stipend, and have a real job while holding office as a critter. If they didn't live in Washington, work bankers' hours, they'd cause less damage to the country. Smaller, limited government should translate to less need for congress critters hanging around Washington. That would fix a lot of our problems. Common freakin' sense!

Congresswoman Granger is providing much better representation for her constituents than the congress critter from my district. Mine is Hank Johnson who expertise is Island Stability and Helium stockpiles. He is a party line demoncrap who always votes the party line. I once wrote him a letter stating my beliefs on Kenyan Kare and his staff sent me a response asking for a campaign contribution.

Unlike the Biden candidacy of 2020, she did not have enough support to run a basement reelection campaign, and her family was caring enough to get her into a memory care facility, unlike the Biden family.

In the White House I must share
I met a Pres who wasn't there!
He wasn't there again today,
Oh how I wish he'd go away
Tho he’s cooked for all to see,
The Pres says he’s there for me.
But when my needs came to call
I could not see him at all!
Go away, go away, don't you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and don't slam the door...

How in the world did she survive re-election? Her last vote was in July. That alone would be enough reason not to vote for her. Doesn't matter what her policies are or what party she belongs to.

First of all, TX 12 is a +12 Republican House seat.
Second, that Executive Director may have violated HIPPA
HIPAA, or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, is a U.S. law enacted in 1996 that establishes national standards for protecting the privacy and security of individuals' medical information.

Not recognizing the name, I glanced to see the party / state. While used to seeing no vital info in headlines any more, I was not ready to see none of it in the lede, either. I guess we have to CLICK to see anything meaningful these days.
It's probably for the better, though, since it's been a lot of years since we could expect headlines to be consistent with their articles, and a few years since ledes and articles were generally consistent.

She did not run for re-election. A new GOP Congresscritter will take the seat in January.
Would have been an interesting fact to include in the article.

Just wondering.... What has been her voting record this term?
What percentage of votes has she cast a vote?
How long has she been pretty much incapacitated?
Good that a news outfit tracked her down, but why have the local news sources been so lax and lazy to let the situation get to where it is today?
Do they no longer bother to cover their local CongressCritter at all?
My understanding is that letting people know what their Critter is up to, is the #1 job of the 'Press'. Looks like the local Press have been as bad at their job as this Critter has been at hers.

Back in the '90s, Kay Granger was my boss, during her tenure as the Chair of the DFW International Airport Board. She was very knowledgable regarding aviation issues, particularly those involving both economics and aviation security. After she ran for office and I joined the FAA, I was quite pleased to see her conservative representation of the Tarrant County side of DFW and the adjoining Mid Cities in Congress. She well understood the role of big, busy airports as economic engines for for local and/or regional economies, not just in her district but across the U.S. I'm sad to see that she, like my own mother, has been stricken with Alzheimer's. As other family members know, it is painfully tough to see the effects of Alzheimer's on your loved ones and friends. It's like you lose them twice; once when they forget who you are and then when they die. In the process, you get to watch them struggle with their own deteriorating memories to the point where they even forget how to chew and swallow their food. Kay Granger was no swamp rat, the author's catty comments notwithstanding. Insinuating that someone suffering from an adverse medical condition is "hanging on to power" is ugly and absurd. During a visit with her neurologist in her last year during Trump's first term, my mom answered the doctors question as to what year it was by saying "1947" with no hesitation. The follow-up question of who is the current president (Trump) was also answered without hesitation, "Harry S. Truman." One cannot even picture a mind that afflicted struggling to hang on to power. She just wanted to go "home," as she feared her own long-deceased parents were worried about her.

#2 There was a time when the Pubbies had control of Congress and "term limits" passed the house and the vote was tied in the Senate with the Majority leader to provide the winning vote... The TREASONOUS diirtbag sleazy "Deep State Hack", Bob Dole, cast the deciding NO vote!
His excuse: If I passed it, Clinton would veto it and then we'll never get it done! Every American should despise that POS and be glad he died a loathesome low-life demented POS!

I am fairly familiar with her record and indeed she is no RINO. However, it doesn’t give her a pass for holding onto a seat she probably has not been able to handle for some time. Folks, we must get control of these corrupt people thinking these Congressional seats belong to them. Kay’s condition did not start a month ago. When she got the diagnosis, she should have had the integrity to announce it to her constituents. She should have done the right thing THEN. This Texan is tired of all these SELF-serving elected officials who do just about anything to hold onto power.
