Once in a great while, what happens at the bottom of the ballot can reshape a state’s political future for decades to come.
While New Yorkers on Election Day will vote on the controversial “Equal Rights Amendment,” Ohio is ground zero for an effort to wrest control away from the people and give it to unelected, Fauci-like bureaucrats to achieve “redistricting reform.”
And the movement is anything but organic: It’s an out-of-state (and even international) attempt by left-wing politicians to trick voters into rewriting our state constitution by passing Issue 1.
The ballot measure — masterminded by the likes of Barack Obama’s former Attorney General Eric Holder-

This is a very sneaky issue for Ohioans. On its face, it looks reasonable. Lots of yard signs in Ohio saying Vote Yes on 1. They also say Harris/Walz. The democrats are really pushing for this, and if it passes, your state is next.

I hope that my state, the Peoples' Republic of Colorado does not fall for it. Redistricting reform is a sucker's bet. If it were to pass here, perhaps succession for western Colorado could make sense because the Peoples' Republic is beyond screwed up.

I am in Ohio...Democrats are trying to gain through dishonest outside money ballot initiative that which the people of the state have already denied them...elected seats. Sharrod Brown is soon to be ousted from the ONLY statewide seat still held by Dems, Marcy Kaptur, only still in office due to perhaps the WORST gerrymandered district in the nation, looks to be going down, finally,as well.(Marcy's district, she had to move to to win is called the "Snake by the Lake" and much of it is only a highway wide, is mostly resort summer homes, connected by state parks, marshland and bridges) Repubs have turned this formerly Blue, then purple, once a swing state, Redder that either Texas or Florida, the old fashioned way...they WON seats in individual elections. ALL of the Dem adverts are ABORTION!!!, and full of lies about it, biggest being that Repubs want to totally bann it, even though Dems won a constitutional amendment initiative last year that prevents that from EVER happening, and the Supreme court has rulled that there cannot even BE a "National Law"..

typical dem strategy, make it look as if Republicans are cheating with districting. the signs for dems voting say "stop the gerrymandering!" And its the dems that are actually doing the gerrymandering! The whole dang issue looks unconstitutional. It actually takes away free speech. No representation for a certain group of people.

More attempts at taking the power away from the people and installing a manageable surrogate...like commie Camalala...she's running only because obama thought he could control her and tiny tim....he installed her as Vice President to biden because he knew he could pull her strings...and she would vote however he wanted....then came their October surprise...President Trump's support by America....WE will not relent...President Trump is our guy!!

Although this thread is about Ohio’s Issue 1 redistricting power grab, the face-off between Sherrod Brown and Bernie Moreno appears to be another example of crafty political language and manipulation to defeat Mr. Moreno. Two examples are that Mr. Moreno looks out only for himself and his special interest friends, and supports no exceptions for abortions—an accusation ruled a half-truth by the Poynter Institue because Mr. Moreno supports exceptions for rape, incest and the mother’s life.
Cursory research indicates Sherrod Brown is, essentially, a career politician whereas Bernie Moreno, like President Trump and Elon Musk, has the expertise of a businessman. The accusation that Mr. Moreno may be “looking out only for himself and his special interest friends,” and no exceptions for abortions, intended or not, appears to imply that Mr. Moreno is apathetic, personally calculating, and self-serving needs to be addressed.
About six weeks ago, a close family friend was diagnosed with a stage four malignant lung tumor and passed away three weeks after diagnosis. This family friend, in retirement years, worked part-time for Mr. Marino’s car dealership company. This week a funeral mass was held for the gentleman and Mr. Marino personally attended the mass along with other members of his staff. Mr. Marino, a man of wealth, esteemed business stature, and current political opponent of a long-tenured U. S. Democrat Senator took time from his campaign, with the election two weeks away, to pay his respects to an elderly part-time employee by attending his funeral mass. Mr. Moreno’s presence deeply touched this family friend’s widow as well as other family members and friends. Clearly, Mr. Moreno is a man of faith, compassion, giving of self. A man not indifferent to the needs of people and country, but a man of courage, motivation and knowledge.

Have been made aware one northeast Ohio county Board of Elections parking lot having numerous supporters of Issue 1 on-site encouraging voters to vote “yes” on Issue 1 so it is quite likely that same strategy is taking place throughout the state and expand to polling places on November 5th.

I voted no on Issue One last Monday. I haven't noticed any blue states rushing to divest themselves of the ability to draw districts. I've made up my mind that I no longer want to play "fair" with the Left.

The "problem" of gerrymandering was never an issue when Democrats controlled the state government. They gerrymandered districts as they pleased. It's only a problem now because there's no chance in Hades that the Democrats will control the state government in the foreseeable future.

My state is not "next". They gerrymandered the heck out of it four years ago, to wipe out the one conservative district.

We did that here in Michigan about 8 years ago. It didn't change a thing. All those new employees with a huge budget and gerrymandered districts are just the same as they were before.
Want to stop it? The real reason it's bad is that it is expensive make work for no results.

"These unelected, taxpayer-funded commissioners could only be removed by their colleagues, even if they engaged in gross misconduct or criminal acts. Citizens of Ohio be damned."
What could possibly go wrong when unelected bureaucrats are unaccountable to voters? Recall that Dems created federal "regulations" cooked up by unaccountable bureaucrats to magically classify biological men as women. This nonsense allowed mediocre male athletes to compete against female athletes. Robbing biological women of fair competition for scholarships was a Democrat idea, right along with giving males who self-identify as women, the "right" to shower with the girls. We need MORE accountability to maintain our freedoms, not less.

After learning this afternoon that two college graduate friends in Ohio enthusiastically voted “Yes” for this year’s Ohio Issue One, have a sense of foreboding that Ohio voters will have been once again hoodwinked as they were with Ohio’s Issue One in 2023 (Reproductive Decisions Including Abortion Initiative) and Issue One will pass.
