There is a parallel universe in which Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin never knelt on George Floyd for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.
In that universe, the Democratic Party never genuflected to identity politics amid the 2020 Black Lives Matter unrest. Joe Biden wasn’t forced to choose a running mate as unpopular as Kamala Harris, who had been the first Democratic candidate to flame out of the primaries just months earlier. Biden was never left without a clear heir apparent, the absence of which made staying in the 2024 race at age 81 seem like a good idea. As a consequence, in that universe, Donald Trump never seemed likely for re-election.

Again, I refrain from too much speculation about the process of replacement, but I solidly affirm my 3-year-old prediction that Biden was always going to be replaced.(snip)the following lead paragraph indicates to me that Joe will soon be gone.
If it is now accepted that Hunter Biden and Jill Biden are the official gatekeepers for the White House and the office of the presidency, then that indicates no other White House officials or advisors are trusted to take that role.
If this is true, that means all of the professional political networks, the concentric circles that surround the Office of the President, have collapsed.

PARIS — The left-wing alliance in France won the most seats in parliament in a dramatic election, dealing a surprise blow to the far-right party of Marine Le Pen.
In the first round of voting a week ago Le Pen’s National Rally came top and was aiming to secure the most seats in France’s legislature for the first time in the party’s history on Sunday. But tactical voting and collaboration between Le Pen’s opponents to keep her party out of power paid off, final results showed.
The election, however, looks set to throw the country into a period of political turmoil, with no single group coming close

The New York Times issued a 2,200-word Sunday front-page encomium by White House correspondent Erica L. Green, in support of struggling President Biden’s suddenly significant second-in-command: “Kamala Harris Has Stepped Up. If Biden Falters, Can She Lead?” The print edition headline was less fiery: “Harris Emerges From Sidelines As Democrats Rethink the Ticket.” Green tried to make the case that Harris, a word-salad gaffe machine and figure of mockery on the right, is ready to take over the leadership of the free world from Biden. Apparently she has already prepared for the moment. By early this year, around the time a prosecutor called President Biden a “well-meaning,

CNN panelist Scott Jennings pointed to President Biden telling George Stephanopoulos on Friday that he would be satisfied losing to former President Donald Trump "as long as I gave it my all" as a profound moment where the president refuted the thesis of his campaign.
"The entire thesis of the campaign was democracy is on the ballot," Jennings said. "If I was a Democrat who hasn't blinked since January of 2017... and I heard Joe Biden admit that it's all just a facade, that it's all just a talking point, I would be freaked out right now to find out there's no animating issue for this campaign."

Poll analyst Nate Silver lists the signs that a party is getting rid of a president under the 25th Amendment. He says we’re about halfway up the ladder, which has these at the starting rungs:
Back-channel conversations
Anon leaks to press
Influential non-electeds and donors saying he should resign
Backbench elected officials saying he should resign
Signals from senior party leaders saying he should resign with plausible deniability
Megadonors saying he should resign and withholding funds
Normie senators or representatives saying he should resign
I’m seeing all this right now, not yet as a march to the 25th Amendment removal from office, but certainly in an effort to get him to withdraw from the 2024 race.

Dr. Kevin R. Cannard, a Parkinson’s disease specialist, has visited the White House at least nine times in the last year, official White House visitor logs show.
The logs show Dr. Cannard traveled to the White House residence medical clinic each time. He met either with the president’s personal physician or the naval nurse who coordinates care for the president and other top officials, the logs show.
Dr. Cannard’s spate of visits began on July 28, 2023 and continued at least through March 28, 2024. The most recently released logs end on April 1, so it is not clear if Dr. Cannard has been to the White House more recently.

In April 1988, the U.S. launched Operation Praying Mantis, a one-day war against Iran. It was retaliation for the U.S. frigate Samuel B. Roberts striking an Iranian mine in international waters. Although the Roberts’ keel was broken, thanks to the crew’s effort, the ship did not sink.
Ronald Reagan ordered the April 18, 1988 response. By the end of the day, Iran had lost five ships. A frigate was sunk, and a gunboat and 3 speedboats were sent to the bottom of the sea. HOUSTON, Minnesota — Democrats in rural America fear President Joe Biden’s debate performance is undercutting their painstaking efforts to build trust with their communities — a stark example of how the fallout is hurting the party with some of the key voters they’ve been trying to bring into the fold.
As Biden struggled to finish sentences during the debate in Atlanta last week, rural Democrats felt like they were watching their carefully coordinated, yearslong agenda to rebuild their standing in rural areas suddenly evaporate, according to interviews with Democratic voters, lawmakers, congressional aides and organizers on the ground. There's plenty of video evidence that Joe Biden is senile, struggling with a steep cognitive decline that has accelerated over the last couple of years. You wouldn't need a second of it, though, to show how far gone he is in light of the president's latest move.
According to Axios, Hunter Biden is currently operating as a "gatekeeper" for his father. That follows reports that the president's convicted felon son has also been attending high-level meetings while controlling the flow of information within the administration. If elevating Hunter Biden to such a position of power is not proof that Joe Biden is completely gone mentally, I'm not sure what is.

If Biden won't leave, what is the party to do? If "Plan B" is replacing Biden and he won't go, a left-wing scholar is advocating a "Plan C" to save the president's floundering campaign.
Supporters of this plan suggest a straightforward strategy to counter Trump’s growing campaign momentum: replace Vice President Kamala Harris with former President Barack Obama.

Now, that was hilarious because Kinzinger had endorsed the "habitual liar," Joe Biden. And you can't endorse Joe Biden and claim you're a "proud conservative" without either being dishonest or delusional,

Pride.
Everyone is so proud. So damn proud!
We just came through Pride Month. Pride parades, celebrations, commercials, and notices were ubiquitous, everywhere, like drag queens. And not just where you might expect them, either.
It seemed nary a crosswalk, sports team, business, or email was unadorned by some form of acknowledgement or touting of the LGBTQ community.
So proud! Couldn’t be any prouder of our gender (whatever it is today) or sexuality!
Because that is what matters, what is really at the very heart of who we are, right? And that’s why they want to make sure youngsters are involved, as well. The younger the better. The younger, the prouder!

“Guess what: they’re trying to push me out of the race. Regrettably, Iran does not seem to be guided by the same humanitarian, ethical, or "natural law principles" embraced by Israel and the West.
