Former President Donald Trump is expected to announce his running mate in the next week or so ahead of the Republican National Convention.
The campaign has largely dismissed early reporting and speculation on who Trump will tap as his vice president. The primary candidates for the VP slot are Sens. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), according to the Washington Post.Vance said on Meet the Press Sunday that he has “not gotten the call” but would alert the media if that happens.
“We’ll let the media know if I ever get that call,” the Ohio senator said. “But most importantly, we’re just trying to work

If the WaPo claims it, we know it’s wrong. So I’m going with Vivek.

Washington Examiner? Aren't these the NeverTrump fanatics?
And ANYBODY but Rubio. He has tried twice to stab us in the back with amnesty bills for ALL. He'll do it again.

RE #2, he has been a huge success in managing the explosive growth in his state from the massive oil drilling in the Baaken Formation oil fields, one of the largest oil finds in 100 years. Huge expansion, LOTS of difficulties in bringing industry, people, handling economic and road issues.
He has done very well, is a proven competent administrator in a free market environment, and pro-business.

I'm not a fan of any of them, but if I HAD to take one, it would be Burgum.

Self made millionaire businessman, entrepreneur, and NOT a lefty, a conservative, pro-business, pro-oil guy raised in rural N. Dakota on a farm.

For those looking for "just the nuggets"......about Gov. Burgum.
From Forbes:
"cutting state spending by 27% and instituting the state’s largest tax cut, among other actions related to North Dakota’s economy, development and public safety. Burgum has also made a series of controversial moves as governor, including prohibiting transgender people from using bathrooms that align with their chosen genders and banning nearly all abortions in the state"

Ben Carson. Or Vivek. Or Sarah Sanders. Burgum may be a great guy, but most people have never heard of him, and from what I've seen of him, he's doesn't seem to be very 'engaging.' Could be wrong. Rubio? Nah. Vance has tried to paint himself as an Appalachian hillbilly, but the real Appalachians know he's not and (from what I hear from those from the area) don't like him. I've got nothing against him, but what does he bring to the ticket? The faux redneck vote? But he would be good in a debate. But so would Carson or Vivek. And I guess Rubio could handle himself, too. Sarah Sanders would be fun to watch debating Cackles!

Re #11. Gates left the Microsoft chairman position 10 years ago. And I'm not at all sure that we need to reject anyone who ever met Gates.
I will judge by the actual things he did in two terms as North Dakota governor. Actions speak louder than slanders.

#1 My thoughts exactly. I'm hoping Trump was faking when he said Vivek wouldn't be his choice for VP. Even so, I'm sure he will have Vivek in some position in his administration.

Burgum worked for gates after he sold his software company to Microsoft. He also allowed farmland to he sold to China. That farmland isn’t too far away from a military base. These are red flags to me.

Bill Gates donated $100,000 to Burgum’s gubernatorial campaign in 2016. Later, Gates was able to bypass state laws and swallow up 2,100 acres of prime farm land.
Burgum vetoed legislation that would have banned transgender athletes from competing in sporting events outside of their birth gender.
He vetoed legislation that would have banned the use of transgender pronouns by public school officials.
He vetoed school choice legislation.
He wants to make North Dakota “carbon neutral” by 2030.
He's Mike Pence with hair gel.
