Sobbing ‘Rust’ armorer Hannah Gutierrez

“Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed sobbed throughout her court hearing as she was sentenced to 18 months, the maximum possible sentence, on Monday for her involvement in the accidental shooting death of Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin in 2021. Gutierrez-Reed, 26, was led into court shackled at the wrist and wearing khaki jail scrubs with a white longsleeve T-shirt. (Snip) Judge Sommer told Gutierrez-Reed: “A conditional discharge is not appropriate. The second option — leaving you in the detention center — is giving you a pass you do not deserve … you alone turned a safe weapon into a lethal weapon.

Comments:

The fact that she was overheard ridiculing the jury did not help her cause.

The prosecutor did an amazing job in putting this case together. The judge was also fair and even handed. Baldwin will be facing them soon.

FTA —- “At trial jurors heard evidence about how Gutierrez-Reed — who was in charge of the weapons on the set of the Western — flouted gun safety protocols which allowed a live round to end up in the gun Baldwin was using for the film.” Baldwin violated the most fundamental gun safety rule —- he failed to point the gun in a safe direction. Baldwin has no deniability.

The New Mexico Sentencing Commission reports that because of good behavior deductions most serious violent offenders should only have to serve about 87% of their prison sentence if they earn "good time." Non-serious offenders should only have to serve about 50% of their prison sentence. "Good time releases" are not subject to judicial review.

Re #6: My best friend, a very good blackjack player, was on a Crystal Cruise (six stars) with Alec Baldwin, who treated the dealer poorly almost immediately after being seated at the table. My friend retaliated by deliberately calling the actor "Alex" three times in five minutes. "Alex" was thoroughly blood engorged before he stormed away from the table. (I wrote about it in detail here a long time ago.) My friend, almost exactly the same size as Alex (5-11, athletic, not overweight), was not afraid of Baldwin. "Alex" never got the chance to retaliate onboard the cruise ship. If he had, he would have found out that my friend was a Golden Gloves boxer with an extremely hard head. Then Alex would have gone to sleep.

Apropos the comments of #s 2 and 6, odd, isn’t it, that the judge said “you alone turned a safe weapon into a lethal weapon.” I dunno, I think it took two people to turn the safe weapon into a lethal weapon, the armorer AND the person who aimed and fired the gun.

Halyna Hutchins Is still dead, and her little son still doesn’t have his mother. This young woman deserves every minute, and more, of this sentence. “Alex” Baldwin deserves even more punishment. The “you alone” comment by the judge makes me skeptical that he will spend any time at all away from his young children - unless it is of his own choice.

It seems to me that the lady was killed as the direct result of the arrogant and lackadaisical attitudes and actions of this 'armorer' twit and this 'movie star' [backside orifice]. I think that they should both walk freely on this earth.... on the same day -and not one minute before- that Halyna walks this earth and holds her children in her arms. Until then, they can ROT IN JAIL!
