blow to ESG movement

The State of Texas is terminating a massive $8.5 billion investment with trillion-dollar asset manager BlackRock over the state's determination that the firm is engaged in a boycott of energy companies. In an announcement first shared with FOX Business, Texas State Board of Education Chairman Aaron Kinsey said the so-called Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) had delivered a notice to BlackRock on Tuesday, informing the New York City-based firm of the action. According to Kinsey, the move was made in accordance with a 2021 state law that seeks to distance the state and its large public purse from financial institutions boycotting the oil and gas sector.

Will $8,500,000,000 be missed from a 1,000,000,000,000 investment firm? Hope it hurts, but I’m doubtful it will change the mind of a single liberal black soulless heart.

Same as #5. A MUCH more minor amount but if more investors do the same it will get their attention. They probably have insurance coverage but I would love to see the board and executives sued for damages.

BlackRock isn't the only one pulling this ESG stunt. A couple of years ago my old employer shifted management of my 401K over to Vanguard. Early last year, Vanguard got on the ESG bandwagon. I called one my financial guys and told him to transfer my 401K over to him. He called Vanguard. We had to set up an appointment for a 3-way phone call a couple of days later to get it done. When it was finished, I told my financial guy that it was unusual to have to wait a couple of days to talk a Vanguard rep. He replied that I probably wasn't the only person moving their money away from Vanguard; we probably had to wait in line! I think that's what's happening with BlackRock. They've lost a lot of investors over the last couple of years, ever since they embraced ESG.

Judge Allows Trump And Co-Defendants To

Judge Scott McAfee ruled Wednesday that former President Donald Trump and eight other co-defendants can seek review of his decision not to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. McAfee granted the certificate of immediate review sought by defendants, finding it “of such importance to the case that immediate review should be had.” The decision means defendants can appeal McAfee’s decision, which allowed Willis to stay on the case against Trump after special prosecutor Nathan Wade stepped down, despite finding an “appearance of impropriety” in their actions.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed a Texas law to take effect that enables state law enforcement to arrest people they suspect are illegally entering the United States from Mexico. The three liberal justices publicly dissented from the court’s order clearing the way for the controversial statute, SB4. The order is not a final decision, and the case could return to the high court. The Biden administration had urged the justices to block the law, passed by Texas’s Republican-controlled legislature last year, asserting it is an “unprecedented intrusion into federal immigration enforcement.”

The Washington State Supreme Court officially abolished the traditional bar exam requirement for aspiring lawyers Friday due to its perceived negative impact on minorities. The Supreme Court has announced that the bar exam is no longer a requirement for those who aspire to be practicing lawyers. The Bar Licensure Task Force claims that the exam is only minimally effective in measuring competency and noted its unfair barrier to marginalized communities aspiring to practice law, according to the Washington Administrative Office of the Courts. The Task Force on Bar Licensure found that the usual bar exam unfairly stops people from underrepresented groups from entering the legal profession.

The Biden administration finalized a rule on Wednesday that’s expected to make a significant amount of the new car market electric or hybrid. An administration official told reporters Tuesday that under the new rule, 56 percent of the new vehicles on the market in 2032 could be battery electric, while an additional 13 percent could be plug-in hybrids. That’s up from a collective 16 percent of sales being electric and hybrid cars last year. The rule is a cornerstone of the Biden administration’s climate agenda, as the cars and other light-duty vehicles it regulates currently make up about 17 percent of U.S. planet-warming emissions. The rule also regulates medium-duty vehicles. But

A new capital would signify a new beginning for the nation. Everyone who has seen the play Hamilton knows that the nation’s capital was moved to the present site in the District of Columbia due to a dinner-table bargain in 1790 between Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. Hamilton needed Jefferson’s support in Congress to win approval for federal assumption of revolutionary war debts; in return, Jefferson wanted Hamilton’s support in moving the capital from New York City to a location nearer to the population and geographical center of the country, later carved out between the states of Maryland and Virginia.
