“Marriage fundamentalism” advances “white supremacy,” according to a George Mason University professor.
“I theorize that marriage fundamentalism, like structural racism, is a key structuring element of White heteropatriarchal supremacy,” Professor Bethany Letiecq wrote in the Journal of Marriage and Family. (snip) Letiecq employs “critical family theorizing…to delineate an overarching orientation to structural oppression and unequal power relations that advantages [white heteropatriarchal nuclear families] and marginalizes others as a function of marriage fundamentalism.”

Ruth Bader Ginsburg's family has denounced an award in her name being given to Elon Musk and Rupert Murdoch, among others.
The Opperman Foundation has since 2020 bestowed the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Leadership Award to extraordinary people.
Actor Sylvester Stallone, financier Michael Milken, and fashion icon Martha Stewart will receive the award this year along with Musk and Murdoch.
Ginsburg, the legendary late Supreme Court justice, consistently supported progressive positions during her 27 years on the bench.
Her family lashed out at the foundation's choices as 'an affront to the memory of our mother and grandmother', without singling out the two conservative billionaires.

Republicans have foiled past attempts to remove the Hyde Amendment from the budget. An appellate court paused the Biden administration’s corporate emissions disclosure rule on Friday.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit granted Liberty Energy’s request for an administrative stay against the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) corporate climate risk and emissions disclosure rule, according to a court filing. The regulation requires medium-sized and large public corporations to disclose climate change-related risks and data on the emissions created directly by their businesses in financial reports. Profiles in Courage, it ain't. (snip) So, if I have this right, Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee decided to pull a James Comey, Robert Mueller, and Robert Hur:
Write a ruling saying Fani Willis and Nathan Wade are guilty as hell, have no ethics, and aren't good role models....BUT Fani can stay (snip) The problem with splitting the baby is that the baby dies. That seems to be what happened here in McAfee's attempt to be Solomonic. If he wanted Fani Willis to remain in charge of the case, he needed to exonerate her from all of these issues.

The transcript of Joe Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Bob Hur showed the president frequently wandered off topic, even making “car noises.” (snip) According to the transcript, Biden then proceeded to talk about his car, and make car noises. (snip)
Biden then started talking about cars in general, before Hur interrupted with, “Sir, I’d love — I would love to hear much more about this, but I do have a few more questions to get through.”
Biden ignored him, and continued talking about cars, to which Hur finally said, “All right. So let’s — let’s launch into the next subject which relates to the Penn Biden Center.”

New York City has quietly approved a controversial green plan to require pizzerias and matzah bakeries using decades-old wood- and coal-fired stoves to cut their smoky pollutants by 75%.
Mayor Eric Adams’ Department of Environmental Protection said the fresh edict takes effect April 27, with some city businesses having already coughed up more than $600,000 for new smoke-eating systems in anticipation of the expected mandate. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called former President Donald Trump a "president of peace" and said that if Trump were president, "there would be no war" in Israel or in Ukraine.
Orban released a video on X, formerly Twitter, praising Trump on Sunday after he visited the former president's Mar-a-Lago Estate in Florida last week.
As president, Trump "commanded respect in the world, and thus created the conditions for peace," Orban said in the video, according to English subcaptions. "During his presidency, there was peace in the Middle East and peace in Ukraine. And there would be no war today if he were still president of the United States."

Producer Rob Reiner’s anti-Christian smear, God & Country: The Rise of Christian Nationalism, limped out of theaters after grossing a hilarious $60,464 worldwide.
Basically, that’s fewer than 7,000 tickets sold in a country of 350 million.
