The Biden administration finalized a rule on Wednesday that’s expected to make a significant amount of the new car market electric or hybrid.
An administration official told reporters Tuesday that under the new rule, 56 percent of the new vehicles on the market in 2032 could be battery electric, while an additional 13 percent could be plug-in hybrids. That’s up from a collective 16 percent of sales being electric and hybrid cars last year.
The rule is a cornerstone of the Biden administration’s climate agenda, as the cars and other light-duty vehicles it regulates currently make up about 17 percent of U.S. planet-warming emissions. The rule also regulates medium-duty vehicles.

Do all the new regulations mean that slowjoe now has to scrap his corvette? He should be the first to get rid of his gas guzzler.

Government in a nutshell. Identify a non-problem. Hype it until the sheep believe it's a problem. Enact a solution to the non-problem. Watch it Fail. Proclaim it a resounding success. Double down on the expensive fail. Make sure everybody gets the warm fuzzies. We're saving the planet!
We see what you're doing, it's not going to work anymore!

It's all part of the plan: EV's assembled in Mexico in Chinese-owned factories, using labor that will be brought in from China. We'll probably be selling them lithium from the recent finds here in the U.S.

My guess is the dnc and Biden are getting huge amounts of dollars from their cut in this EV garbage. They’re pushing an agenda that the majority of people are against, so the question has to be what’s in it for Biden and his cronies.

No way is the country/world ready for EVs. The infrastructure and technology are no where good enough to support it. Imagine millions of cars stuck on streets and highways (especially in cold climates) waiting for a charging station. Good luck!

I fully agree with poster # 3, and fear for what this craziness will mean for the auto companies. Forced by law to manufacture vehicles that they well know very few people actually want to buy? And what will that do to the prices of the remaining ICE vehicles that car buyers actually want to purchase?
The rational mind reels...

It will never happen. Do Dems ever drive through the 'hood where they rack up big vote totals? There is no safe place to put a charging station. Older homes will need extensive re-wiring to add a charging outlet. Electrical rates will soar for those who can least afford it.

Since Biden once again violated the constitution by going around Congress this will be easy to overturn under the Trump Administration. The OE's should tread very lightly with this.

By coincidence, the ChiComs are building an EV plant in Mexico where they will produce cheap EVs. EVs to be sold in America to escape tariffs imposed upon Chinese Autos. This IS the bloodbath. And Joey Baby is supporting the bloodbath. Gibbs rule #39 applies here (hint. There are no such things a coincidences)

Follow the money...because graft, grift, and corruption are the only credible reasons to shift from ICEs to EVs...
Since there is zero scientific or engineering justification, credible, anyway, for AGW...that the Greenies claim the shift to EVs will stop,

I don't want one...will not buy one. At my age, my 2002 Camry with 96,000 miles on it will outlast me. It fills up in 10 minutes and has a range of 350 miles. EV technology is not here yet to justify buying one. Maybe in 25 years? 50 years? By then, maybe some new and better means of power will have been perfected. There were ev's back in the early 1900's and they got replaced by ICE vehicles.

Delusional is kind. In 2023 ev sales were 7% of total vehicle sales. Hybrids were about 9% of total sales. Biden wants to go from 16% of new cars being "electric" to 71% in just 8 years, thats about an 80% increase in hybrids and about a 800% increase in full electrics.
Full electric sales rosd from 800,000 in 2022 to 1.2 million in 2023. Total 2023 US car sales were about 15.6 million.
Currently BEVs get $7500 subsidy from taxpayers. To pay for 56% of 15.5 million new cars as BEV will cost 65.1 Billion there is not enough lithium mined yet to make the batteries. China has 90% of all the rare earths needed most of which is still in the ground. There are not enough known reserves of 4 or 5 of the required rare earth metals in the world and there is no quantum leap battery technology on the horizon to change this by 2032.
Idiots.

Biden is going to do everything that he can do to ensure that all the coming Chinese designed, and Mexican manufactured EV’s are sold throughout the USA in the future. No problem wiping out American automakers, as in the meantime obviously Biden and the Democrats figure that they have the union member American automakers votes in the bag!

They figure they win even if the Feds mandate 100% EVs, nobody buys them, and the dealers' lots fill up with unsold EVs. Their REAL goal is to get us 'peasants' out of cars altogether.

Why in the world do we care what the Democrats have set up for 2032? Biden won't be alive then and hopefully the Democrats will be all but forgotten thanks to the mess they forced on us during their Administration. I think the EVs will be in a Dump somewhere, a thing of the Past!!

These "Greenies" are ignorant fools. Have they any clue as to how toxic Lithium mining is, the dangers of fires that consume enormous amount of water to extinguish only for them to ignite again and the issues of waste disposal of these batteries? Never mind the brutality of the treatment of the people who are mining the minerals to make the batteries. This nonsense has to stop now!!
