Marriage promotes ‘white supremacy’:
George Mason professor

“Marriage fundamentalism” advances “white supremacy,” according to a George Mason University professor. “I theorize that marriage fundamentalism, like structural racism, is a key structuring element of White heteropatriarchal supremacy,” Professor Bethany Letiecq wrote in the Journal of Marriage and Family. (snip) Letiecq employs “critical family theorizing…to delineate an overarching orientation to structural oppression and unequal power relations that advantages [white heteropatriarchal nuclear families] and marginalizes others as a function of marriage fundamentalism.”

Right Bethany. What alternatives do you suggest? What percentage of these feral urban thugs we see running amok do you think come from homes with a married mother and father present? Or maybe you consider thugs running amok, robbing, beating, looting and killing to be a good thing?

So because white western society followed Judeo-Christian ethics, then any Christian value such as the sanctity of marriage must be an artifact of "white supremacy". Also "Thou shalt not steal" must also be a white supremacist value, right Bethany?

A lot of women are left to raise children on their own. Some husbands take off and don't even pay child support. My boys turned out just fine. Never got in trouble. On the other hand, my brother and his wife stayed together and he was a hard worker and supported the family. His two oldest were into drugs and in lots of trouble til they finally matured in their 30's. Ideally, all children should have a strong family with both parents but sometimes that's not possible. A blanket 'they didn't have a father figure' doesn't cover everyone.

My understanding agrees with #8. Professor Thomas Sowell in his book 'Basic Economics' stated that a broken family is the strongest indicator of poverty, and that black Americans had a higher rate of intact families than white Americans, and were gaining on them economically, until the 1965 Great Society welfare laws were passed. My understanding is that these welfare laws, which gave money to single mothers, but not if there was a man in the house (this from a discussion with a black co-worker of mine).... resulted in the breaking up of black American families on an industrial scale. Young black males growing up in a household with no father present to put a firm guiding hand on their shoulder, resulted in the widespread dysfunction of urban black society in American today.

Anytime the professor needs to use 10 big difficult words to in one sentence to describe what they are saying, they are wrong. They are just trying to cover over their losing argument with big words to confuse people so they won't argue with you because they have no idea what you just said. If she were correct, she would be able to explain it simply. It wouldn't be hidden behind a word salad.

The latest exhibit of rubbish masquerading as education. Children fare better when brought up by married parents. Married people make for more stable families for the most part. Some people would rather be uncivilized savages. God help you if you ever make the mistake of marrying one of them. The last thing they want to do is take responsibility for their actions. They are incapable of thinking about anyone else other than themselves. This is all about lifestyle choices. Btw, racism has nothing to do with this even though the author claims it does. Letiecq is white. Wonder if she is LGBTQ. So many of them hate marriage. She sure seems to hate marriage.
