In a dramatic setback, House Republicans failed Tuesday to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, forced to shelve a high-profile priority — for now — after a few GOP lawmakers refused to go along with the party’s plan.
The stunning roll call fell just a few votes short of impeaching Mayorkas, stalling the Republicans’ drive to punish the Biden administration over its handling of the U.S-Mexico border. With Democrats united against the charges, the Republicans needed almost every vote from their slim majority to approve the articles of impeachment.
The House is likely to revisit plans to impeach Mayorkas, but next steps are highly uncertain.

The swine walking towards the RINO Hall Of Fame.........
"The House voted mostly along party lines, but Republicans suffered a number of defections which torpedoed the vote. Four Republicans ultimately voted no: Rep. Tom Clintock, R-Calif., Ken Buck, R-Colo., Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., and Blake Moore, R-Utah, who switched his vote at the last minute in a procedural move to be able to bring the resolution back to the floor."

Our two-party representative system of government is mostly for show. On certain issues, our government is all on the same page regardless of what the voter wants. They act like they are completely at odds with each other, but every now and then, they all act together. Don't believe it? Watch how they handle spending cuts. They never have any. Obviously, the border is another issue that brings them all together.

It’s comical that the wimpy Republicans could not whip their conference to determine if they had a winning hand before they scheduled a a full house vote. Clearly the wimpy Republicans were wasting their time by messing with Mayorkas, as the Democrat controlled Senate would not remove him from office, let’s say they did, in that case Biden replace Mayorkis with another leftist and socialist Democrat bureaucrat who would have held the same or more extreme political philosophy as Mayorkis regarding “open borders” schemes to flood the USA with Third World origin poor and uneducated illegal aliens numbering in the tens of millions, who the leftist and socialist Democrats obviously believe can easily be transformed into tens of millions of future leftist and socialist supporters and voters after they are granted a Democrat designed “path to citizenship” amnesty in the years ahead.
What the wimpy Republicans should be spending their time on is winning the November election so they could get rid of both Biden and Mayorkis.

Polling, news reports and even democrat mayors are all acknowledging something needs to be done about the border, which is squarely in the Republican's wheelhouse. And at the last moment, they yet again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Mayorkas is a doofus and a crook. But the best legal minds the government can uncover or buy, cannot pull out a high crime or a misdemeanor over Mayorkas rank stupidity (or venality, which ever word you prefer). Personally, I'd opt for a blindfold and a cigarette!

So, basically, by kicking out Santos and letting McCarthy resign, we lost two votes. Scalise was out sick and one GOP member switched his vote so he could move for reconsideration at a later date.
Why was it so important to boot Santos (who had said he wasn't running for re-election, especially when a Democrat may win that seat in the special election) and for Kevin to take his ball and go home (or go back to the pollster's apartment where he camps out in DC) at the time he did? Wanna boot someone out? Then boot out Omar or Talib. You can find as many reasons they should go as anything there was on Santos?
A two vote LOSS would have been a two or four vote WIN. Yeah, sure the Senate would not have convicted Mayorkas of incompetency and stupidity, but it isn't like the Senate is doing anything worthwhile anyway.

The myth that Republicans have a majority in the House is far from true.
As long as there are Republicans who would rather vote with democrats than their party Republicans will never have a majority---either in the House OR the Senate.
Only thos who wish to destroy America would not vote to stop the border invasion.

Why is it incumbent on the Republicans to carry the vote? The Dems always vote in lockstep. Think of all the Dem representatives that are in the border states, sanctuary cities, etc., complaining away. ...getting an earful from their constituents. Why didn't several of them cross over? Some illustrious journalist should look into why some of these Dems didn't vote to impeach.

#25 I disagree. I want everything put up for a vote, so the voters can know where their "representatives" stand. They are able to hide when they don't have to vote.Rep.
Which Republicans voted against impeachment?
Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado
Rep. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin
Rep. Tom McClintock of California
Rep. Blake Moore of Utah
Another big problem was Scalise being a no show.

I heard part of Rep. McClintock's speech in the House on why he voted no - impeachment should not be used as a political tool. Really? Hey Rep McClintock, that cow left the barn sometime ago when Nancy Pelosi used impeachment only as a political cudgel against President Trump. The gentlemanly rules of past days are long gone - thanks to machinations by the likes of Nancy Pelosi Adam Schiff, Jaime Raskin, Hillary Clinton, et al.

Last night Greg Abbott was busy re-routing busses to the districts of:
Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado
Rep. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin
Rep. Tom McClintock of California
Rep. Blake Moore of Utah
Wonder if they'll take note when their districts are suddenly overwhelmed by lawless invaders.

No doubt the House was busy counting noses to ensure the outcome of the vote. They only needed four (or five) defectors. How many more did they have lined up if needed? My guess is the problem is much bigger than we realize.
Seriously, should everyone be sent packing and start with a clean slate? Is that even possible? I have doubts Washington can be fixed.
