Electric vehicles sure do seem safe and effective. Or am I mixing my propaganda? According to social media user Xian Ke, a Google-operated electric bus suffered a power loss on Monday morning while attempting to scale one of San Francisco’s many hills. The out-of-control bus then rolled down the hill and crashed into nine vehicles. Monday on X, formerly Twitter, Ke posted a 10-second clip of the crash’s aftermath. The story was eventually reported by a local TV station but they downplayed that it was an out of control EV.

If I recall correctly those buses are business shuttles for Google employees, which the City may have required to accept non-Google passengers as a condition of getting their license to use city bus / taxi lanes and public bus stops. The defendant should be Alphabet, whether or not the City shares their liability.

Can you imagine a big electric semi truck, loaded with flammable something or other trying to climb an icy mountain road or anywhere in a city or town with hilly roads? Ninety-nine percent of us knew right off this wouldn't work, but the other 1% pushed it anyway.

I lived in SF, runaway busses, trucks(including firetrucks) have always been a Thing. Back before EVERY car had an automatic transmission, there were plenty of "Clutch went out" runaways as well. also failed parking brakes that lead to runaway empty cars. Curbs there are taller than other cities and "Curbing your wheels" is taught to every new diver...and newcomer.

A museum is to relabel its display about a Roman emperor after concluding that he was in fact a trans woman.
