When I was growing up and attending Catholic schools, I was taught that the pope is infallible.
But then I read Pope Francis’ updated encyclical letter last week, and now I can only conclude that at least this pope is fallible. In fact, the declaration is so filled with anti-Christian fallacies that one has to wonder whether we have a pope that is actually Catholic. (snip) the U.S. has more emissions and uses more energy than many other nations, but that is because we produce far more output per capita than all other nations except China. It’s the reason the United States is the breadbasket of the world.

The pope is infallible when he, in communion with all the bishops, issues a statement on doctrine. This encyclical isn't infallible, it's idiotic. And I say this as a 72 year old Catholic who will never leave the church. I can only hope and pray our next pope has some sense. Oh for the days when a layman or laywoman would give the pope a good talking to. St. Catherine of Siena did this and I wish someone would do the same.

The victims of the inquisition and multiple crusades are unavailable to testify in the issue of infallibility.
There have been good and decent Popes, John Paul, and bad popes, any Borgia. But this pope is a special kind of twisted. He, himself would have been a victim of the Catholic Inquisition had he been alive during that time.

I'm no fan of the pope, but he's right. When I see what is happening in Gaza, I think, "Look what America has done". By that, I mean look what Biden and those that support him have done. Legitimize Hamas, Handicap Israel, Give $6B to Iran, Give lots of weapons to Hamas through Afghanistan. What do you expect to happen? Although tempting to call Biden a fool, no one is that much of a fool. It is intentional. America is attempting to destabilize the middle east, destroy Israel, and start WWIII. There can be no doubt.

The "Infallible Pope" story was obviously invented by the Vatican just as the ancient people of Egypt, Rome, the Aztecs and the Incas were made to think of their leaders as gods. How else do you abuse people in every way possible and keep them in line? This Pope is not only fallible he is wrong most of the time.

Not to get embroiled in a deep discussion of religious eccliastia, but this ACTIVIST Il Papa brings an issue to mind that is the once accepted and that is the doctrine of the "Divine right of Kings", that they were infalliable and could do no wrong.
The WORD has not changed. Its precepts of Scripture and commandments do not change to meet the times and the level of fallen souls unholy activities. The path to Eternal Life is simple and does not require any intermediaries to give redemption.
This Pope comes across as a worldly and politically motivated one.

Did Christ set up a thriving entrepreneurial corporation? Did He live among us to show the virtues of the love of wealth? Do you like strip malls, traffic jams, hideous housing developments and all the other dehumanizing aspects of our prosperous lives? Maybe the Pope has a point.

Not only does the United States of America feed more starving people and give alms to more poor people than any other country in the history of the world, but we borrow the money to do so.
Do you know anyone else who takes out a loan to support the poor?
Where's the gratitude? Where's the recognition from the spiritual father of the poor?

The Pope is infallible only when speaking "ex Cathedra" on matters of faith and morals, a pronouncement which is delivered from the Baldacchino in St. Peter's Basilica. Papal infallibility and its limitations was made a doctrine of the Church in 1870. With this decision, several branches of the church left due to disagreement with this doctrine.

Frankie is not "speaking from the Chair of St.Peter!" This declaration is his own opinion. The problem with this is that people who do not understand that the pope is "declaring" his opinion, but believe the pope is speaking for the Church. Not so.I agree with the people who say he is a commie, but I do understand he is not speaking from St.Peters Chair.

Poster #5... the crusades were defensive. Look at maps of the world decade by decade after Islam started. Watch actual history lessons from Bill Warner on Youtube. Are there Nerstorian Christians today? They didn't have crusades. Are there Zoroastrians? Same. Is there a Europe? Thank the crusades. They lost... but they gave time so that it was possible for the lifting of the siege at Vienna, for the Battle of Lepanto.
As to Francis? I totally agree. He should be ignored, censored, reined in over his stupid, non-faith related comments.

Not being a Catholic I normally refrain from commenting on the doings of the Catholic Church. I have pointed out the hypocrisy of democrats who profess being "good" Catholics embracing abortion politics, in the past. I have also pointed out that based on the reported statements of Pope Francis that he seems to be more an Anti-Pope than a follower in the steps of Peter. He would not be the first nor, if Jesus tarries, will he probably be the last. A human as well as spiritual entity is of a necessity fallible and prone to sin just as much as individuals who claim to be Christians are fallible and prone to sin. It happens and it's the business of the Catholic Church to deal with Francis if he is a false pope.

80 years a Roman Catholic now, and will remain one for however many years the good lord allows, but that doesn't mean I accept everything this hypocrite in Rome says. My dad used to say that any preacher that owned more than one suit of clothes was a hypocrite. I won't go that far, but this pope is living a better life than 99.99999% of the people in this world. On doctrines of the church, he may be infallible, but on the ways of the world, he's totally out in left field!

For the life of me I have never understood why anyone would follow a pope when Jesus is the only intermediary between God and man. I don’t believe any man can forgive sins, and I surely don’t like the sexual sins ubiquitous in the church. This communist is hurting the world.

Read the Bible and learn how Christ established His Church. Learn of the Biblical traditions handed down by the Almighty Father ,
regarding the forming of a leadership --a holy priesthood of men, headed by Christ Himself.
It was the Son of the Father who appointed His Disciple St Peter-a flawed man-to lead the Church Militant.
The Christ did not, for example, entrust the care of His Flock to kings obsessed by their privy parts.
