House Democrats are panning a Republican-backed bill to prevent a government shutdown in a potentially troubling sign for the bill’s path to passage. In a one-pager put together by Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee, they slam the Republicans’ stopgap bill as being a “Not So ‘Clean’ Continuing Resolution” and instead push for the Senate’s stopgap bill. The party takes aim at the bill for not including Ukraine aid, which the Senate includes in its bill, and other language Democrats claim could lead to members getting a “pay raise.” Democrats also claim the House GOP plan would deny “critical additional resources to the Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student

Who is this guy sitting in the governor's office in California? His name is still Gavin Newsom, but lately, he hasn't been acting as the progressive zealot we're used to. Perhaps he's an AI version? On Saturday, he vetoed a bill that would have allowed workers on strike to become eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits. Wait, what? Newsom passed on a chance to take our hard-earned tax dollars and give them to someone else while pandering to unions? Can this actually be happening? Governor Hair Gel noted that the state's unemployment fund is just plain out of money:

One day after Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) collaborated with Democrats to avoid a government shutdown, Representative Matt Gaetz (R., Fla.) said he plans to move to expel McCarthy from the speakership. “I do intend to file a motion to vacate against Speaker McCarthy this week. I think we need to rip off the Band-Aid. I think we need to move on with new leadership that can be trustworthy,” Gaetz said Sunday on CNN. Gaetz’s threats come after McCarthy secured enough Democratic support to pass a short-term spending bill through the House on Saturday, narrowly avoiding a government shutdown. Although Gaetz and other GOP hardliners opposed the continuing resolution,

WASHINGTON — The threat of a federal government shutdown ended late Saturday, hours before a midnight deadline, as Congress approved a temporary funding bill to keep agencies open and sent the measure to President Joe Biden to sign. The rushed package drops aid to Ukraine, a White House priority opposed by a growing number of GOP lawmakers, but increases federal disaster assistance by $16 billion, meeting Biden’s full request. The bill funds government until Nov. 17. After whirlwind days of turmoil in the House, Speaker Kevin McCarthy suddenly abandoned demands for steep spending cuts from his right flank and instead relied on Democrats to pass the bill,

With Border Patrol encountering 10,000 or more illegal migrants every single day, Elon Musk and others took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight some data and facts illustrating the scope of the Biden border crisis. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) tweeted a picture of himself and Musk at the border with the comment, “RECORD 260,000+ illegal entries in the US during September. This border crisis is unsustainable, we need sensible solutions NOW.” In response, Musk quote-tweeted the message with his own important context. “US Border Patrol just reported the highest number of recorded illegal immigrants in history at over 260,000 this month,” Musk reaffirmed. “The full number, including unrecorded,

Forner President Donald Trump spoke to the California GOP Convention on Friday. Trump chastised the Democrats, saying they brought the state homelessness, open borders, high taxes, inequality, “woke tech tyrants,” and rising crime, but that "help was on the way. " He verbally drew a sharp contrast between himself and the current occupant of the White House, Joe Biden, questioning whether Biden was fit for the office. Trump also mimicked Biden's tendency to get lost on the stage and not know where he was going. “Does anybody think he’s going to make it to the starting gate?” Trump asked the audience in Anaheim, receiving a resounding reply of “no!”

Ron DeSantis, who was in California to speak to the state's GOP, appeared with Bill Maher on Friday evening, and it went well. Pressed on everything from COVID-19 to abortion, the Florida governor had the liberal audience cheering at times as he delivered conservative answers. It only took a few seconds for DeSantis to get his first round of applause, touting that he made vaccine mandates illegal in Florida. Given Maher's skepticism about left-wing COVID hysteria, that was a smart strategic play to soften the room before getting into the tougher questions. Maher took a few shots after, which shouldn't anger any Republican because that is the point

Federal prosecutors have told a federal judge that if Donald Trump had bought a gun earlier this week during a campaign stop, he would be violating his release conditions as a criminal defendant and breaking the law, according to a Friday court filing. A campaign spokesman for Trump had posted on social media that Trump bought a Glock in South Carolina on Monday, then removed the post and clarified to CNN the former president hadn’t purchased the firearm. Prosecutors pointed to the moment, as well as the former president’s recent attacks on departing Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley, in asking a federal judge to place more restrictions on Trump

Biden administration on Friday unveiled the most restrictive offshore oil and gas five-year leasing program in history. The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced the plan, which allows for three offshore oil and gas lease sales through 2029, with sales in 2025, 2027 and 2029. That schedule represents the lowest number of sales that the administration could have pursued while maintaining its ability to push offshore wind development under provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and it is the “smallest number of oil and gas lease sales in history,” according to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.

According to The Information on Sept. 27, the social media platform reportedly ousted five anti-free speech activists from its contentious election integrity team. Musk took to Twitter to react to the reports, confirming that the individuals were “gone.” Among those affected by the purge was notorious disinformation chief Aaron Rodericks who came under fire last month in mid-August for undermining Musk’s promise to protect free speech. After teacher Erin Brooks told prosecutors, sent by Virginia attorney general Jason Miyares, about the incident, Ziegler fired her for working with the grand jury. According to a major Democratic donor close to Californian Governor Gavin Newsom, who is set to choose Feinstein's replacement, the possibility of the Duchess of Sussex running is not impossible. Although a long-shot replacement for the 90-year-old pioneer, there is speculation Meghan could serve out the remaining 13 months of Feinstein's term. The White House released a statement which read: 'On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the President signed into law: H.R. 5860, which provides fiscal year appropriations to Federal agencies through November 17, 2023 for continuing projects of the Federal Government and extends several expiring authorities.' The U.S. avoided a government shutdown after the Senate secured enough votes to pass a bill to keep the government funded for 45 days just hours before Saturday's midnight deadline.

This fraud is not running for anything. One might be forgiven for assuming the reason a presidential candidate is running for the nomination is to win the nomination and become president. This is not the case for nearly every candidate running currently in the GOP primary. They know they have no chance to win, and, furthermore, they are essentially doing nothing to change that fact, either out of cowardice or sleazy political calculus or both. There are two varieties of the current GOP crop of con-man: those who refuse to criticize Trump in any meaningful way so as not to upset the Big Guy

She's hoping the newly resurrected Clinton Global Initiative (the fake charity but real influence-peddling operation that temporarily closed its doors while being investigated for engaging in pay-to-play fraud) can make a financial killing off all the real killing going on in Ukraine. CGI is ready to help the widowed, orphaned, and suffering people of Ukraine by collecting large sums of money that will go a long way to supporting the Clintons' lavish lifestyles. What remains of their tax-free charitable "services" can then be distributed among their army of cronies desperate for an easy payday.
