Biden Admin Releases Most Restrictive
Offshore Oil And Gas Drilling Plan In
US History

Biden administration on Friday unveiled the most restrictive offshore oil and gas five-year leasing program in history. The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced the plan, which allows for three offshore oil and gas lease sales through 2029, with sales in 2025, 2027 and 2029. That schedule represents the lowest number of sales that the administration could have pursued while maintaining its ability to push offshore wind development under provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and it is the “smallest number of oil and gas lease sales in history,” according to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.

The ultimate hypocrisy of severely restricting oil and gas leases is that it justified by the inflation reduction act. By doing everything possible to reduce the supply of fossil fuels, it inflates the cost of this energy. Since wind and solar will take decades to develop enough infrastructure to replace fossil fuels, we need the fossil fuels until that infrastructure comes into existence decades from. And, since wind and solar unreliable sources (the sun does not always shine and the wind does not always blow) we will still need fossil fuels to provide backup energy when wind and solar cannot. Compounding the problem is forcing a switch from fossil fuels to electrical energy for cooking heating and transportation. The electrical power grid is already under stress resulting in power outages now. If cooking, heating and transportation (EVs) are switched to electrical energy, the demand for electrical will increase exceeding the capacity of the electrical grid. This will take decades to accomplish. Trying to do it in a few years will create hyperinflation trying to meet the rapidly increased demand.

For 50 years we have blamed us. The solution agreed upon has done more damage than the so called problem itself. If we are in danger, it is to late to do anything about it so let us enjoy a comfortable life in the few years we have left,

Tramp cargo ships of murky registration love it when the world’s attention is focused on land-based conflicts. One looks very much like the other – ubiquitous rust buckets of the sea – floating serenely, aimlessly on ill-defined missions between ports. They also, being in such rough condition, could be expected to break down a lot…and so they seem to. When no one’s looking, they’ll sometimes come to a stop over top of important things lying on the seabed beneath them. Like. for instance, the cables and pipelines that run communications, electricity, or natural gas between countries separated by seawater. In some cases, these are lifelines of one sort or another
