Who is this guy sitting in the governor's office in California? His name is still Gavin Newsom, but lately, he hasn't been acting as the progressive zealot we're used to. Perhaps he's an AI version? On Saturday, he vetoed a bill that would have allowed workers on strike to become eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits. Wait, what? Newsom passed on a chance to take our hard-earned tax dollars and give them to someone else while pandering to unions? Can this actually be happening? Governor Hair Gel noted that the state's unemployment fund is just plain out of money:

He was correct to veto the bill. Which can only mean that he plans to run for the White House. He doesn't have to worry. The unit is won't endorse the Republican candidate.

Clearly he’s running. So California gets a brief respite from the worst of the worst leftist policies, until Newsom and his fellow crazies have a chance to inflict them on the entire nation from Washington.

You’d think dems would get a clue by the fact that they have to run to the right in order to get elected. This is amounts to an admission that the majority of voters are to the right. And yet, after they lie about who they are to get elected, they govern from the left of Chairman Mao, and then tell themselves and us that they have a mandate. No one ever calls them on it, and their voters swallow it hook, line and sinker. These two, vastly different worlds cannot co-exist. I’m only interested in candidates who not only acknowledge this, but are willing to address it.

Many years ago I had a friend who married a man who worked for an automobile company. He lived with his folks until he married so when they would go on strike every three years ago he wasn't concerned. (this was the mid 1970's) Living at home was a piece of cake. His wife was smarter than that. The first few years of her married life was spent prepping and saving a years salary so when the next strike was called they would be okay. She knew strike benefits were not much and there would be no unemployment. She was raised in her grandmother's home, a depression grandma who taught her that life was not fair so best be prepared incase in decided to bite you in the butt. Newsome is waiting for FJB to drop dead or just go away. Trying to kiss the conservative voter's butt. It is going to take a lot more than that.

The writers’ strike has resulted in the layoffs of thousands of people such as costumers, production staff , make up artists etc. These people would get nothing while the strikers get benefits that will encourage them to stay on strike longer thus further punishing the non striking skills who have been laid off. Newsome is right to veto this stupid law.

Last week Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump and his two sons (and several other entities and people) were liable for overstating the value of his holdings. Essentially this was the civil case equivalent of finding him guilty of fraud. In his 35-page ruling, Judge Arthur Engoron said Trump continually lied on his financial statements and was able to get favorable loan terms and lower insurance premiums as a result. Trump’s legal arguments defending the statements are based in “a fantasy world, not the real world,” Engoron wrote. The judge went on to say that the case was essentially a “documents case,” and “the documents here clearly contain fraudulent valuations

WASHINGTON — Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., the Donald Trump ally and conservative bomb-thrower who has been a nagging thorn in leadership’s side, filed a resolution on Monday to force a vote to overthrow his political nemesis, Kevin McCarthy, as speaker of the House. The House must now vote on whether to keep McCarthy on as speaker, but they have until Wednesday to do so. Speaking to reporters on the steps of the Capitol, a beaming Gaetz predicted he has the votes to oust McCarthy — as long as Democrats don’t move to save the speaker. “I have enough Republicans where, at this point next week, one of two things will happen:

Clarence Thomas recused himself Monday as the Supreme Court rejected an appeal from John Eastman, a former legal adviser to Donald Trump, who had asked the Court to reverse a previous ruling which held that his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election potentially constituted a crime. In March, a California federal judge ruled that Eastman’s advice to then-President Trump advocating overturning the 2020 election results “more likely than not” constituted a crime. Eastman, a Constitutional law professor, controversially advanced the argument that Vice-President Mike Pence could avoid certifying the election results.

California governor Gavin Newsom on Monday signed a bill repealing a law prohibiting physicians from sharing information with their patients that contradicts the prevailing scientific sentiment on Covid-19. The initial law, which Newsom signed in September 2022, violated doctors’ First Amendment rights to free speech and Fourteenth Amendment rights to due process of law, critics say. The text of the bill includes a clause explaining that “physicians who engage in the dissemination of COVID-19 vaccine misinformation or disinformation risk losing their medical license.”

WASHINGTON — Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., conceded on Monday that Speaker Kevin McCarthy “probably” can survive a conservative effort to oust him from power. But, Gaetz said, McCarthy would almost certainly need to rely on Democrats to do so, weakening the GOP speaker’s standing among House Republicans. "Kevin McCarthy’s true coalition partner on all things of substance has been the Democrats this Congress,” Gaetz told reporters on the steps of the Capitol Monday, pointing to how McCarthy relied on Democratic votes to pass a debt and budget deal earlier this year and a bill to avert a government shutdown on Saturday. “If Kevin McCarthy works for Democrats and utilizes Democrats

Washington —The Supreme Court said Monday that it will not take up a longshot challenge to Donald Trump’s eligibility to run for president because of his alleged role in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. The case was brought by John Anthony Castro, a little-known candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, who sued Trump earlier this year in an effort to disqualify him from running for president and holding the office “given his alleged provision of aid or comfort to the convicted criminals and insurrectionist that violently attacked our United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.” The case was denied without any comment or recorded vote.

NEW YORK (AP) — The fraud lawsuit that could cost former President Donald Trump control of some of his most prized properties went to trial Monday, with New York state lawyers vowing to hold him accountable while he denounced the case as a politically motivated “scam.” The civil case, brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accuses the business-mogul-turned-politician and his company of deceiving banks, insurers and others by habitually misstating his wealth in financial statements. “They were lying year after year after year,” Kevin Wallace, a lawyer in James’ office, said in an opening statement as Trump sat at the defense table. Apparently, there are an increasing number of kids, with no physical or cognitive disabilities whatsoever, who are entering kindergarten without being potty-trained. This is hard to fathom. In the past, the vast majority of children were fully potty trained around three years old, give or take a couple of months. However, today kindergarten teachers often report to We Are Teachers that 15-20% of their classroom is not potty-trained, and that even a few first-graders are still in Pull-Ups. (Again, this does not include kids with medical issues, or physical or cognitive disabilities.) Sadly, there is a growing trend of children reaching the age of five without being potty trained.
